[Q] Full Flac support

Is there a way in the interim before Cyanogen is fully up and running that we can hack it to have flac support? Probably half of my music on my phone is Flac and any attempt to use apps like Poweramp, Songbird, or the like to "shuffle all" results in only shuffling tracks supported by the Android core (which sadly Flac is not yet apart of?!?!?)
I believe that CM7 has flac support built in, but I might be wrong. Just wish Google would add it to the core already!
I would love to be able to listen to my Triple.Fi 10's on this device, but am wary as past phones headphone outs have been horrible. How's the Tbolt? Is there a defacto standard media player app that caters to flac and doesn't cost $5.99?
Thanks!
CM 7 does play FLAC just fine for me. I use MortPlayer, which is free and has a lot of features (and works for flac just in case you were curious). I cant remember if it worked for FLAC on sense or not, but it might have. The developer for it has been working on it since the windows mobile days and ported it over to android.

Probably the best reason to have cm7 for audio is the fact you can use the volume keys to switch tracks and it's not dependent on the player to do so either. Having that to me is a must if you wish to use it for running or some other exercise that keeps you from seeing the screen.
Yeah, I tried it last night and found the stock music app plays flac just fine. Unfortunately, the sound quality from the Jack leaves something to be desired. Oh well, that's what the Zune HD's for. ;-)

Does the ZuneHD support FLAC? I have the Zune 120 and the lack of FLAC support makes me cry

If you really want FLAC, I would find a media player that supports rockbox http://www.rockbox.org/
I have a nano 1g and it's worked great on it for the past 6 years.

My old Sansa players were all rockboxed but they all supported FLAC anyway
The Zune was just given to me from a friend. I appreciate it (obviously) but I miss the FLAC support.
Thinking of grabbing a Clip+ and throwing in my 32GB MicroSD in it and reaching a decent size of 40GB in an mp3 player about the size of 1.5 quarters

Play flac files?

Is it possible to play flac files with stock sense but maybe using another music player?

I think the paid version of PowerAmp player does it, if I recall correctly.
I'd be interested, as well, just not interested enough to pay what I though was a little too much for that PowerAmp player, when I may not end up using it all that much.
Nearly all the music I have is in .FLAC format, but I have a separate player that has FLAC support built-in.

Poweramp does indeed play flac.

I sure hope they implement it someday. I think the some of the more recent Blackberry models (Torch) have native FLAC support.
Like I mentioned, I've got nearly 3 gigs of live music, much of which is in FLAC, and maintaining lossless format is important.
Having to temporarily convert downward to mp3 or some other lossy format just for listening is a PITA, and defeats the purpose of maintaining lossless format in the first place.

You could always stream them using audiogalaxy or another server if you don't mind consuming some serious data! Poweramp is worth the $5.....you will get much more enjoyment from it than the next gallon of gas you buy.

It's definitely a top rated app in terms of market reviews, and I may buy it someday, if I find myself using my phone to play music, which at this point I haven't, so it's not that big of deal for me personally, though the OP may want to bite the bullet...

I really recommend PowerAmp.. I am currently running the Trial version on my Samsung SGS2 combined with my Koss Porta Pro (Iphone edition) I can not see any cons with this music player for Android at all. It handles mp3, FLAC and all other popular music codecs. I was surprised when i noticed that the iphone controller on my headphones works flawlessly and there was even settings within the player for adjusting this etc.. I'm pretty sold on this player.. It just works!

Looks sweet. Downloading right now.
ty. ive been waiting to check this one out. reminds me of mass effect...loved that game.
Absolutely amazing. This is what I was expecting of tetra. Beautiful graphics and seems like a real game. Set the graphics to high and its still silky smooth, but I am overclocked to 1.6

How much can you play before having to pay 15 bucks to get the full game?

I get the feeling we are being drawn into it and then asked for cash. Looks like a nice game on the TF screen. I had assumed this was a multiplayer online game to start off with. Feels a bit like Dark Prophecy.

SPACE ADVENTURE WITHOUT RISK
The current reference title in the Sci-Fi genre is available free to download from the Tegra™ Zone app on the Android Market and can be played for unlimited time offering full functionality within the first solar system. To access the whole galaxy with over 20 solar systems and to complete the six to ten hours, fully voice acted storyline, you have to unlock the game via in-app purchase for $ 14.99 / € 11,99 / £ 8.99.
Edit: Updated OP post for "1 solar"
Is it me or does it run kinda bad? (medium details).
I'm running the game on the highest settings and it plays perfectly. Played for about an hour and really like it. Will consider getting the full game if it continues to be compelling.

Im getting huge framedrops on high , even on medium. 3.1 Stock
Everything stock and running it on High. Very smooth and I'm very impressed. It is rather pricey though.

+1 stock here and nice and smooth on high settings
Good looking game and like above running fine on high (I'm @ 1.6Ghz tho) - At work so haven't had a proper play but will do over the weekend.
Wow, thanks for posting. Maybe making a sticky/corner for quality apps that are free?
Hello,
I've installed it too on a stock "non-overclocked" TF.
It works very nice in full details.
I also tried it some weeks ago on an iPad.
Graphics were quite "old-fashioned" on the iPad.
I'm pretty impressed to see bumped textures, etc...
Great.
done ....was waiting for it
damn, what makes this worth $5 more than the ipad version?

I guess i am done with the free part. I play on all high on g2x. runs perfect. but how do i get back in the first solar system?
I think it's awesome, and I don't think the price is unfair considering I would pay a quid or 2 for games normally, whereas this has awesome graphics and a lot of gameplay and clearly would have taken a lot more time/money to develop than the average game. As such I'm gonna pay for it, it's my kind of game
Just to warn people though, if you want to try it out for a decent amount of time then just do freelance missions and stuff, it turns out that if you follow the story mode then you end up in another solar system pretty soon and you can't get back to the first (which you can play for free), then you can't do anything unless you pay.
anyone have trouble launching the game I finished downloading the assests on my eeepad and now i just get a black screen when i launch
EDIT: Uninstall and deleted SD Card game assets and reinstall fixed my problem.

FIFA 12 exclusive for Xperia Play until Feb 2012

Let's hope that the game is really better. Fifa 10, which came bundled with the phone, was a disappointment.

how to have this update?
Pro Evolution Soccer 2 (or even PES, ISS Pro EVO 2) on the Offical Emu - can't see anything beating that to be honest.
It's one of the best football games of all time.
Pes on play is gold. Playing it on touchpad makes me not want to play any games on cell.. Don't know why they even make games on other phones lol

Cant wait for this

Everyone keeps saying PES 2 on the PSX is the best football game available for the Xperia Play. I'm tempted to try it. The problem is I have no clue how to get "PSXPERIA" to work -.-
Fifa 12 out today 30/09/2011

I was looking for it too. It's written it's out on 30th September globally, but only on PC, PS3 and XBOX360.
The release date for Xperia PLAY is not specified, just says "Autumn 2011", which means it can be out any day.
FIFA 12 for iPhone has also been released as well. Where is the Xperia Play version?!?!
hope it's better than my free fifa 10 which came with the phone.
I might be wrong but I think I recall reading that FIFA 12 is an exclusive XP game for 3 months until Feb 2012. So that means a November release.

This is ****ing ridiculous. Why on earth should we wait one month before the iPhone owners? Did apple buy exclusive rights to the game too or something?
Logs, that's not a great argument! Why should everyone else wait for 3 months more than us?

To me exclusive rights means all mobile not just Android, exclusive is exclusive, but Iphone seems to be excluded from this, even getting the game earlier, money making preference I suppose!

I am not too happy with the whole exclusives thing either, but I can understand that it's because we know that Sony had forked out the cash. We don't know what Apple does inside its Reality Distortion Field...
