[Q] How to S-ON on Desire S - HTC Desire S

Hello, at first sorry for my very bad english.
I have to send my HTC Desire S to warranty repair. I have only 1 big problem. My HTC DS is S-off. I try everything, but without reason.
If I run RUU, my Android returns to stock, but S-Off remained unchanged. My phone is still S-Off.
If I copy PB88IMG.zip (PG88IMG.zip) to my SD-card, i push volume down + power button, it launch bootloader. But, this bootloader don´t load any zip, even don´t ask me for install or update some zip. It don´t detect any zip.
I want to ask you, how can I reset my bootloader (hboot) to stock - to S-ON.
Thank you very much and sorry for my very bad english again.

How you S-OFFed your hboot?
If via htcdev, then connect phone to pc on fastboot and via cmd enter this: fastboot oem lock
If you used revolutionary, someone answer you...

Hello, I have same problem after revolutionary s-off.

for this howto worked: (german) android-hilfe.de
Voraussetzungen: (requirements)
Android SDK*
hboot.img version 0.98.0000
RUU für Stock Wiederherstellung (for stock backup)
Root Rechte (root permissions)
"Nur laden" Modus (only charge mode)
Debugging Modus einschalten (debug mode on)
1. Lade das hboot.img runter und verschiebe es zur root der microSD card.
2. Rufe die Eingabeaufforderung auf und gebe folgende Befehle ein (nach jedem Befehl Enter drücken):
cd/
cd android-sdk-windows
cd platform-tools
adb devices
adb shell
su
dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p18 of=/sdcard/backup.img
dd if=/sdcard/hboot.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p18
3. Starte den Bootloader neu
4. Starte die heruntergeladene RUU und befolge die Anweisungen

Getting the chacha rooted after htcdev unlock

Dear Members,
A lot of people including my self succesfully unlocked the htc chacha bootloader with the HTCDEV methode. We are verry happy with this developement. Unfortunally every one is trying to get there device rooted now. I tryed manny methodes from this forum but didn't succeed.
Is there anyone who can guide us step by step how to root htc chacha ( s-on but with an unlocked bootloader with the htcdev methode )?
Thx!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
In this tread detailed guide to root htc chacha after unlocked you're chacha with the HTCDEV methode. THANKS TO Huff! Enjoy! Dont forget to install Superuser. Superuser will grant root permissions to apps.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
A. CWM Recovery:
1. Download PH06img.zip found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1164468
2. Open PH06img.zip and extract recovery.img
3. Copy recovery.img in the Android folder used earlier for HTCDEV unlock.
4. Open CMD and cd to that folder that folder
5. Run this in CMD: fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Now you should have CWM Recovery installed.
If there are no errors, power off (Fast boot disabled in Power options) and then enter bootloader mode with vol down + power and select Recovery to verify the install.
B. Root:
1. Download su-2.3.6.1-ef-signed.zip from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=682828
2. Copy it to the SD card
3. Enter in CWM Recovery (start the phone with vol down + power, Fast boot disabled in Power options, or battery removed first) and from bootloader select Recovery and press Power button.
3. With the arrow keys from the phone keyboard select Install from SD card and Choose zip from SD card then select su-2.3.6.1-ef-signed.zip and press enter.
4. Press backspace until you're on the main menu of CWM Recovery and select Reboot.
There's no guide that it's 100% correct for S-ON yet.
Just follow this and it will work: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1184118
The CWM Recovery won't install like it says, you have to extract the image and flash it with fastboot.
Read the last few pages from the other topics, there are others that succeeded (including me).
Good news you got it working! I did try that but i failed .
Could you explain how to do this in a few detailed steps and help us out here? This would be great!
SUCCES! I will post a detailed guide soon!
No time now so just a very quick guide, if I forget something please someone correct me.

You can check the Tweet screenshot on adlx's post where HTC stated that Status was included.
In theory and in practice ChaCha and Status are the same. There are a few hardware differences (the radio for example, since US uses a different GSM bandwidth).
i want to say thank you to all the respected members.
Thank! Working 100%
Thanks, already rooted!

That's normal. This procedure wont make it S-OFF. But now you have CWM recovery and root, and you can install any custom rom.

One S flashed to death-need help pls

Hi Gods of flashing,
I´m pretty clueless. I´ve a One S from T-Mobile Germany (so I´m a crazy german ). I was sick of all the T-Mobile stuff on my phone. So i unlocked my bootloader, installed TWPR and flashed a Viper OneS. I was pretty happy and wanted to try CM stable. There started my trouble. I copied the cm stuff on my phone. Viper One S (or Android I´m not sure anymore ) wanted to do an update, well I downloaded it and let the update install. During reboot the phone went into TWPR ! No start of Android anymore! In the meanwhile I´m sure I´ve done wrong what can be done wrong. OneS All-in-one-Toolkit by Hanson2000, Everything-Tool, trying to flash sideload blablabla...nothing helped.
My screen in booatloader shows:
***Tampered***
***Unlocked***
VLE PVT Ship S-on RL
HBOOT 1.14.0002
Radio 1.09es.50.05.07_2
OpenDSP-v29.1.0.45.0622
eMMC-boot
What is to do that I can use my phone again? I´ve read so many TUT´s, searched the forum but I´m
Could someone please explain step-by-step with easy explanations to me what to do?
I can only use the bootloader, TWPR isn working anymore.
If my phone is nobloe scrap please tell also!
If there are any german guys out there I would be glad to get an german explanation.
Thanks a lot in advance
OT
You most likely have not bricked your phone as you're still able to access bootloader. What i would try next would be:
1. Boot your phone into bootloader.
2. Select fastboot mode
3. From your PC run fastboot flash recovery yourrecoveryimagenamehere.img. This will reflash the recovery. I recommend TWRP version 2.3.x as it has worked great for me and newer versions seem to be having some problems.
4. Boot into TWRP.
5. Mount your phone's mass storage as an USB drive. This let's you access your phone's storage from your PC as a USB flash drive.
6. Copy CM stable zip (or any other ROM you might want) into your phone from your PC.
7. Unmount USB storage.
8. Wipe cache, dalvik and system and do a factory reset in TWRP.
9. Install rom zip in TWRP
10. Reboot your phone into bootloader.
11. Select fastboot mode.
12. On your PC open the rom zip. Inside is a file called boot.img. Extract this into same folder with fastboot.exe.
13. From your PC run fastboot flash boot boot.img.
14. Reboot your phone. You now should boot into the rom you just flashed.
Sent from my One S. Please hit thanks if I helped.
hey, i agree with zaak00,
your phone is unlocked, thats, in this case really good,
from bootloader you can flash a new recovery and from there an new rom.
be carefull with the different versions of the HTC one s (s4 cpu vs s3 cpu), you need different roms for that
you also could repair it with an RUU, than you would have the original Sense back (maybe with an higher hboot, actually i can't definitely say what that would mean in detail)
and yeah, german guy from Bremen here
if you don't know fastboot/adb
http://www.androidpit.de/de/android/forum/thread/470625/HOW-TO-ADB-Tutorial-Anfaengerfreundlich
(das du keine entwickleroptionen setzen kannst ist wurscht, wenn du im bootloader bist und dann mit dem power knopf in den fastboot modus gehst bekommst du damit zugriff)
but i think if you've back recovery you know what to do
just in case, if you are really stuck, write me and we could phone the next days
You can try running an RUU in FASTBOOT USB mode in the bootloader.
Sent from my One S using Tapatalk 2
Hi guys,
thanks so far. I tried your way zak00. I used an CM 10. Until point 11 everythings worked. I also found the boot.img. But then nothing worked. I put the boot.img to ne place where fastboot was. I had to copy the AdbWinApi also into this folder. Then I hit the fastboot, in the background a cmd window open, some text flew by and the window closed without i could read anything! Rebooting the phone leads to a boot loop.
I think that I have no "OS" on my phone...
A phone call with kr1st1an would be something really cool. Just write me an PM with your number and when you are so friendly to be available...thanks...

Updated my phone from Gingerbread to Kitkat now stuck on loading screen!?

Hi I had a struggle yesterday because I know nothing about phones so I followed a guide to updating your phone, so I did it through bootloader/recovery and after installing the custom RUU it actually worked, but after loading up on the screen it shows instructions and shows that it's loading the page/phone and i thought maybe it was but it's been like that overnight so is there anyway around this? (I can get on the power off menu with restart etc but thats about it I cant x off the instructions or anything telling me the updates to the phone)
We need more info.
What guide you follow?
Bootloader info?
Hboot?
HTCDev unlock S-ON or revolutionary S-OFF?
What recovery you use?
Did you wiped all except sd?or just installed zip from sd card?
And what RUU you used(post link)?

don't think i can post links as i'm new but i used a guide off this forum called [Guide] How to root, install EXT4 recovery and custom ROM on HBOOT 2.00.0002 and the custom ROM I used is off this site too the title of the thread is called [ROM] [02-06] Primo-S - v4.1 [HTC One V port] Android 4.0.3 [Kernel 3.0]
I just read about [ROM] [02-06] Primo-S - v4.1 [HTC One V port] Android 4.0.3 [Kernel 3.0] and it works fine on HTC Desire S.
First of all it's rom not RUU. if you want to know difference read tutorials and guides here.
You have HTCDev unlocked bootloader and installed 4ext recovery. My recommendation is to flash new 4ext recovery first(touch one) that I uploaded.

of that zip file.
To do this follow step 3. in [Guide] How to root, install EXT4 recovery and custom ROM on HBOOT 2.00.0002 just use recovery.img from attachment down here.
And now for your problem. From what I know this is common problem on S-ON HTCDev unlocked phones.
After flashing new rom you have to flash boot.img from fastboot.
First open your PrimoS-v4.1.zip then you will see file boot.img.Extract it to C:\android-tools.Get in boot by holding power button and volume down together.Connect USB and enter fastboot. (fastboot usb)
Go to start->run-> type cmd and press enter. A command prompt will now appear.
(just like step 4 in guide)
Type:
Code:
cd c:\android-tools [press enter]
fastboot devices [press enter]
this show if your phone is connected to computer
if you get nothing you are not connetced
if you get some info like ST9212IJKL then you type
fastboot flash boot boot.img [press enter]
you will see blue loading form in right upper corner of screen
very fast but that mean you flashed boot
When all this done reboot phone and you should get your rom started.Sometimes it takes up to 10min but no more then that.
If you don't get in like this then you have to go to recovery and wipe all except sd and flash rom again and follow step 4 in guide.
Try this then tell what you got.Good luck.

Hi thanks for the reply I did a few things earlier just messing about on recovery mode and it's sorted and it didn't even wipe my phone I still have all my contacts and stuff maybe they were saved on my sd card idk but yh works perfectly now cheers for your time and help.
Hi,
I had the same problem at the beginning as I was unlocked the bootloader with HTCDEV.
If you unlocked the bootloader with HTCDEV, you should flash the boot.img manually with fastboot to get it fixed.
1). Switch off the phone and trun it on to bootloader and go to the fastboot
2). Connect the device to the pc and connect it with fastboot (CMD)
3). extract the custom firmware (.zip) file and find the boot.img file
4). copy it to the location where your fastboot.exe located at (ex: C:\sdk\platform-tools\)
then flash it with
HTML:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
Hope this help you
Regards..

In my opinion the easiest way to fix your issue is doing a complete reflash of your device with the RUU.
Presuming you already got the S-OFF:
1) Backup your current data if you need it.
2) Download the 4.05.401.1 RUU (it already has HBOOT 2.16 and Radio 1.20);
3) Change your CID to HTC__001 (fastboot oem writecid HTC__001);
4) Lock your bootloader (fastboot oem lock);
5) Extract and run the RUU (It may take much time to start, so don't worry if it doesn't appear immediately);
6) Unlock the bootloader (fastboot flash unlocktoken Unlock_code.bin); - You may need to get from HTC a new Unlock code.
7) Download and flash the TWRP 2.7.1.2 Unofficial for HBOOT 2.16 via fastboot (fastboot flash recovery recoveryname.img);
8) Push via ADB (if it gives you read-only error on recovery try to do it with system started and USB debug enabled of course) your custom ROM and flash it via recovery (adb push yourrom.zip /sdcard/yourrom.zip).
I hope this helped you.
You have too flash the latest ruu

Okay, i also had the bootloop problem with the rooting tool. But now it is working again without root with the original rom from blackview. regards.
Now i got it. It works with the guide if you format data (not just wipe) before installing the noverty and magisk (Solution from here https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g5/help/please-help-boot-loop-device-corrupt-t3434411). Aand if the twrp asks to to be installed after the reboot confirm. Hi, I bought a Blackveiw A7 Pro. Is there an official site for this phone? I found some guides for rooting but don't know which is reliable. I trust most on XDA community, but there is not a section for this phone. Thank you!
Hello.
I unlocked the bootloader with fastboot but now i get the same message "Your device is unlocked and can`t be trusted. Your dev. is boot in 5 seconds" and nothing happens.
I even did not get into fastboot anymore to reflash or lock it again.
What can i do now?
I managed to reflash Stock with SP Flash Tool.
I used the correct guide, but i dont get rid of the Bootloader unlock warning and the phone is not booting to system, just to recovery.
So the "noverity.zip" seems not to work
