[Q] WiFi calling on EaglesBlood - seems to be stuck...? - T-Mobile LG G2x

I just fresh flashed to EaglesBlood
WiFi calling seems to be stuck. It says "enabling" but it's stuck on this forever.
I did a reset (just in case) - didn't fix it
any thoughts?
Thanks!!!

Wifi calling is notoriously bad. It will work fine for some and barely ever work for others. My completely stock 2.3.3 had the same problem time and time again, as does my phone in its current setup. I believe the problem is external.

Thank you. That's so odd, during the night (did you notice XDA was down for maintenance?) i switched to Weapon ROM and the WiFi issue persists. Yet my wife's phone, the Vibrant, stock rom of course, does the WiFi thing every time and right on the money. Damn it LG!

I think I remember reading that it was having trouble switching DNS servers when needed or something along those lines. I found plenty of feedback on these forums if you want to do a quick search and see if you can dig anything up.
(Yeah, I noticed the forums went down for a bit. I was in the middle of something at the time and really needed links!)

[Q] Can't download anything from the Market when on Wifi

I just got my Nexus S this Sunday, and it worked fine for the first day. Second day came along, and it started acting up. When I tried downloading stuff from the Market, it would "start" the download, so when you checked on the Notification Bar, it had the Arrow pointing down, but no Data was being transferred. It just stalled there, without any progress being made. I've tried rebooting, and once that worked, but it never seemed to work again after that. It works flawlessly if I'm 3G, though.
Just yesterday I rooted for the first time, and got CM7, didn't like the Home Screen Replacement, and switched to NS Collab. I haven't really done any fiddling besides that. It was actually already acting up being I ever even thought of rooting.
I've tried the GTalk solutions, signing on and off: nothing.
Help?
Anyone?
I just got this phone, this shouldn't be happening now...
no problem, i can download from Android Market in both WiFi or 3G

Do you think I should try installing anything on it?
Or is it a problem with my Network? I don't really have access to any other WiFi Connections right now, so I have no clue if the problem is with my WiFi.
Hmm, strange. I have never used 3G on my nexus...only wifi and never had a problem browsing, downloading or whatever.
I would say that your problem is with your wifi device.
I've tried opening Port 5228 on my Firewall, but still, nothing.
What pisses me off the most, is that, Samsung throws the blame at Google, Google doesn't know what to do about it, tells me to do random things, such as open Talk, instead of giving actual solutions. And the things they tell me to do don't work at all.
I can see why people prefer iOS over Android.
Simple: it just works! Android is flaky as heck.
Don't get me wrong, I really like my phone, but for it to not function properly within the first week of me using it is bull****. And then the company that's supposed to oversee this doesn't have a friggen clue about what to do. Incredible.
maybe you have a bugged phone...
one thing you should notice is that the wifi reception on this phone is weak, that´s a fact. But I manage to connect either open and wep/wpa wifi networks...
That's the thing though, WiFi works perfectly. I can connect and do anything on it, I'm even using the XDA apply over Wifi right now. The only thing I can't do is download anything from the market...
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
puuuutz, now I got it. hmm, on early days of nexus, I read a post that people coudn´t get in the market store or download. To fix, the suggestion was reinstall market, but don´t ask me how, cause I dont know, uahuahauh.
now, my nexus is stock, not rooted, and everything works fine. maybe if you try get back to stock, will work...
good luck
I've tried deleting all updates the Market installed on itself, getting it back to its stock version, nada.
Since yesterday, I've also reverted back to stock. The bootloader is still unlocked, though I might lock it up soon.
Much rather have a functioning phone, even if parts of it aren't perfect, than a pretty paperweight.
I'm almost giving up on trying to fix this. Google has no clue of what to do, Samsung much less. I guess I'll just stick with the apps I have, and wait until eventually Google fixes the issue.

There's definitely a major bug somewhere in OS

My phone no longer reboots itself or freezes. It hasn't now for over a week but what tends to happen is after about 2 days of use it starts to lag and slow down like crazy. After I reboot it, its again super fast and smooth.
Its almost like there's a memory leak somewhere that is causing this and maybe certain apps cause it more than others? All I know is this has happened twice now and a reboot makes a huge difference.
Also and not sure if this is related but my GPS stops working until I reboot too. I think it's some app I have on the phone that's hitting a bug in the OS and causing this.
Maybe if it gets bad enough it causes reboots like people have been having?

funny, i just realized this tonight as well. I had some probs w/ tmo service and had to do a reboot after talking to customer service. Yesterday was my last reboot. It was flying afterwards. Very noticeable.

I had the same thing happen last night...GPS would not start no matter what I tried until I rebooted the phone then it worked fine. I agree, there certainly gremlins in this software.
Here's hoping something is coming soon (see my post about the new software update message!).
I wonder if the bug is affecting phones differently. My only problem is my dam wifi. Will not connect under any setting. When it does connect little to no data can be sent. Some else posted this also.

Agreed.. I've been following that thread.. The first clue was "some apps came up missing". Then a confirmation, and then another... and then I bookmarked the thread and decided to have some patience.
Yes good idea me too!. You'll also notice a bunch of people saying it made no difference. So not even worth the risk IMHO!
This just happened again to me. Did you have anything installed that checks location frequently? Shopkick maybe? Have you uninstalled any T-Mobile apps? I'm wondering what causes this since I don't remember having this problem before.

The only thing I'm aware of is Weatherbug, but it's been installed almost since I got the phone (I have it set to track my location).
Um...that patch doesn't patch any kernel files therefore it won't do anything about crashing.
Yeah I noticed this yesterday, navigation refused to start, and things were being klunky, a nice reboot fixed it up!
I notice after a few hours/days things like the add widget menu start lagging pretty bad.
All the more reason to hope hope hope for CM7 with the quickness.
Do you still have Telenav installed? I removed it so not sure if maybe somehow it's related.
I have Shopkick installed, Weatherbug Elite, Beautiful Widgets which I all believe use network location services although none use GPS except Shopkick.
My guess is that the network location API has a bug and crashes so that's why GPS stops working because when it stops working, the GPS can still be turned off and on and apps report it's on but they don't get any response.
I don't use GPS often enough to know how long I've been having this problem. Apart from this, the slowness over time is the main thing I've noticed.
I think weatherbug might be causing weird issues. Ever since I updated a few days ago, when I reboot my g2x and my nexus, I'll get a little box stating it cannot update my location. Altough it does update my location, lol! My GPS will still turn on though!

I have not rooted as I didn't want the restoration hassle if I decided not to stick with this phone so yes, I do still have Telenav installed. My Weatherbug (free version) does turn GPS on to follow me.
After last nights GPS failure to start, the phone gave me fits late morning/early afternoon. I had no bars with an "x" and yet had a data connection (without 2G or 4G shown) at very slow speeds. Rebooted several times and had other similar odd behaviors.
At this point, I am giving serious consideration to ditching the phone before my 20 day trial is up and holding out for the SGS2. My TW Bionix running Vibrant works flawlessly with the single exception of flaky GPS. The big problem with SGS2 is the 4.3" screen...I really don't want a phone bigger than this so perhaps the MT4G might be a better choice.
Decisions...decisions...
OK, now the re-boots are starting. My GPS once again failed to start tonight so I tried to toggle it and it wouldn't turn off/on. I also normally leave bluetooth on all the time and I tried turning it off as well and it wouldn't turn off. It finally did turn off and when trying to turn GPS and bluetooth back on the phone slowed WAY down then re-booted.

GB baseband Canada??

Does anyone know of a fully working Gingerbread baseband for Canada?
I'm nervous about flashing new baseband and being unable to get signal/data on my device.
Thanks
Good Morning,
A couple of us have been discussing this in some other threads.
What I have found after flashing the GB Baseband is that it takes several minutes to register on the network. Once registered, voice and data work for a few minutes, sometimes only a few moments. Followed by a complete signal loss, that usually returns to follow the same cycle; sometimes only returns after a reboot.
I have gone back to FROYO for the time being. I heard rumours that updates for the Rogers Optimus 3D and the LG Thrill are expected by the end of the year.
I am not sure if the current baseband could be modified; or if the baseband from another GB device could be used or modified for use on our devices.
Thank you!
- Audi.
thanks for the information! Its too bad it wont really work. Froyo it is for me too then.
Good Evening,
Just an update. I reinstalled the GB KDZ for fun and it seems to have worked this time.
I have no explanation as to why.
Thanks, Audi.
Hi my friend.
Thanks for info again. Can you please let me know how you flashed baseband and kdz gingerbread ? Maybe ill try it.

Good Evening!
I followed the instructions found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1287236
When I had issues and had to go back to Froyo I followed the same process to flash an early version then used the LG Updater to return to the stock Rogers rom.
Let us know if it works for you too.
More than 24 hours now and no network issues for me to report!
Thanks, Audi.
Thanks Audi!
Was flashing baseband difficult? What instructions did you use for that?

Good Evening,
When you use the method of flashing the GB KDZ file the baseband is included in the KDZ.
The instructions for flashing the KDZ are outlined in the KDZ thread in the Android Development Section.
Please let me know if you if I can help in any other way.
Let us know how you make out!
Thanks, Audi.
Only edge
I don't know if it's because of this or because my 3G reception was already bad.. Will be sure tomorrow but since this update my phone is only catching edge and i've checked my APNs and they're ok so i don't know what it could be...

Good Morning,
When you run speedtest (available in the market) what are your results?
As I said earlier I am getting the same speeds I was on Froyo; so I have no complaints.
Once the GB update is released in this area we will see the full benefits of HSDPA+.
Thank you, Audi.
well, I did it! I got GB loaded and running well. Although, as you and others have said, I'm getting mixed connection results. Sometimes it says 3G, others H but usually its E. At least radio is always connected though.
Sucks for me because I notice big drop in internet speed. I will do that speed test when I can and let you know what happens.
Thanks
On Rogers here too. Hmm, I tried this and ended up with a boot loop. Still working on a way to fix it back up. The phone just plays the sound, displays the LG logo then restarts and repeats.
Whoops
EDIT: Nah I fixed it, I forgot to boot and wipe my old data/cache. BUT, no HPSA. Just E. My apn settings are correct so there almost surely is a baseband issue here.
EDIT2: Don't flash your phone on a retard day. I forgot to enter the password on my apn thing. BTW, King3D rom had all the rogers APN stuff already filled in. Its pretty nice! Cheers
OK, I've had a little more time to test this... And yeah, unfortunately, there are a few nasty issues with this base band. Signal quality is very strange, e-only in a lot of places. Stranger still, my wifi is broken and drops its connection after a second or so of usage. This is tested on both the stock gb and king 3d (which is really nice, btw).
Back to froyo ;(
Really sucks, it sounds like people will be getting ics by the time we Rogers customers get gb. And they are getting gb now that others are getting ics, LOL.

Good Morning!
I am sorry to hear about your network issues; I wish I had could tell you why mine works!?
I had not yet tested wifi; just tested it this morning and it is working.
Bluetooth works great too.
I wish I had the answers to help more!
- Audi.
I suspect it has to do with the towers around where you happen to be. Rogers in Saskatchewan is a bit strange, it might be that with the different baseband its only talking to certain towers. Thats a guess anyway. Can't think of what else it could be -- I live on the first floor of my apartment building, I get edge-only. I visit a friend on the fourth floor and its HPSA and fast as lightning. No idea about the wifi though.
Cheers!
hi guys,
Mine has actually improved lately. I no longer have issues with connection, maybe once a day for like a second or too, but then its fine.
I am getting 3G more often now and H at times as well. I am in the Toronto area so maybe thats why? More towers?
Anyways, I found that I had to manually enter my APN settings to get it to work.
Bluetooth and Wifi work perfectly for me too. Although my battery life sucks big time for some reason. I think, when the screen is on, it drains like 1% every 3 minutes even when idle!
Thats brutal! There must be some blood sucking LG apps that are eating my phone for breakfast, lunch and dinner!
I guess I have to do some digging to get this GB running super sweet!

[Q] Wifi Calling Issue...??

So I've had a problem that I've noticed a lot of people having: Receiving an error that says, "Unfortunately the process com.android.phone has suddenly stopped. Stopping the app and clearing data has only ever been a temporary fix for me.
Now, I've made a new discovery: The error stops when I turn off Wifi Calling. I pretty much NEED Wifi Calling when I'm at my house, so I was wondering if there might be a possible solution to this.
I am in the same situation where I need wifi calling in my place...GB ROMs are the most reliable you will find atm...
Sent from my LG-P999 using Tapatalk 2
I'm going to run through a couple of different roms to see what I can come up with.
That is a common issue with ICS at the moment. I have found that if it does this just do a hard boot (boot holding Power + Volume Up for 10 seconds while starting phone) and then turn on Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi calling and that has fixed it for me a few times.
This happens with every ICS rim out there.... Believe me I tried them all. I need it for work and unfortunately I had to resort to GB.... You will never get rid of that error. Sorry but I tried everything as well.. Good luck and God speed......

Yeah I've finally decided to break down and go to GB. I just finished downloading a few roms to test out to see which one I like best. I've loved having ICS on my phone. It's quite lovely, but just too many bugs right now. I will still be coming back to ICS (even if only temporarily) to scope out the HFS 1.8 when it arrives, but until then I'll have to do with out.

I just made the same determination. Really really like everything about HFS 1.8 except I get the same error when Wifi calling is enabled. I work in a dungeon basement office with zero cell reception, so I really need Wifi calling to work reliably.
Will definitely be back once the Wifi calling issues are fixed though.

[Q] WiFi not working on T959V after ICS update

First of all I would like to say I appreciate all the work that the XDA forums has been doing, and I am pleased to see that the community is as strong, if not, stronger since the last time that I have been here a couple years ago. The questions, answers, feedback and help, let alone for the Samsung Galaxy S 4G released by T-Mobile in February of 2011, is amazing. These forums have really helped people make the most out of their device, and had it not exist, this Galaxy S in my hand would have been long forgotten by Samsung, and the Gingerbread stock ROM that I was given with would be my home. It reminded me of how much I had missed messing with these android devices; nothing like jailbreaking and installing cydia on my iPhone. The experience is not the same. Anyways...
Pulling out my T959V from its box I decided it was time to finally install ICS on it after Samsung have let these great device fade away.
I installed ICS last night and stayed up searching for kernels and testing out different ROMS some slow and many faster than others and decided that Cyanogen 9 was the best looking and performance-wise ROM on the phone in my opinion. Considering that all other ROMS base it on the nightly builds extra stuff was just junk, considering this phone only has one processor. So I upgraded from Gingerbread 2.3.6 and I've tried many different kernels and everything works except WiFi. It can not even search for one network no matter how many times I press "Scan". I'd appreciate all the help I can get.
Thanks

I'd check the MD5 of the CM9 DL and make sure it's a match. I haven't heard of anyone else having that issue. Also make sure you DL the latest CM9. If the MD5 matches format system, wipe cache/dalvik and flash again. Reboot an let it sit for five minutes then try wifi.

Yeah I've checked the MD5 sums of the zip packages after download. This is so bizarre, and the CM9 is not the only ROM I've tried. I've tried about 4 or 5 of them and different kernels as well and all of them do not connect to WiFi. I have formatted system, and always wiped any trace of the prior ROM before installing. Plus, I have tried the method where I would boot to recovery and "fix permissions". No good.
I would use a heimdall one click go back to stock kj6 then flash up to cm9. Sounds like you have some bugs that will only get squashed by going back to stock. IMO I would flash bootloaders too. Just so it overwrites EVERYTHING.

Sounding more and more like a hardware issue. Wifi and bluetooth are on the same chip so if your still on stock try and turn on BT. If it turns on it might not be the chip. If it gives the same error I'd bet money on a bad chip.
This would be a good time for logcat and dmesg...

Bluetooth works fine, WiFi just wont turn on. Its not a hardware issue, and WiFi was working the same day before I flashed to ICS
Done use stock + blastoff that is a stepping stone one click for people to go back to stock then either flash another gb rom or ics rom. Wifi is broken because of the new wifi module used. I never meant for it to be used as a daily driver. Use the heimdall one click bhundven has posted in his one click thread.
@mkho30
I had the same exact Wi-Fi issue a few months ago. I tried everything you tried and what members are suggesting in this thread.
I also asked about this issue on irc (Team Acid) and was told by Bryan that ICS (if I remember correctly) doesn't support WPS button connection. I assumed it was "on my end" and not ROM related.
Bryan suggested that I reboot my router. I had done that several times before asking. I didn't even know you could log in to your router to reconfigure it so he suggested that I Google to learn.
Long story short. I googled and read allot. I reconfigured my router many different ways. I disabled my WPS button connection and reset my router many times. I changed the security every way possible. I even set up a guest network.. the ONLY way I was able to connect to my Wi-Fi network was if I disabled the security COMPLETELY.
That wasn't an option for me. I live in an apartment building and I have seen people in the halls with laptops using their neighbors Wi-Fi.
I tried everything for a couple of months and finally went back to Gingerbread last weekend.
Sorry I can't be of any help with this reply. I just wanted to share my experience and let you know that you aren't the only one that has this issue...man I miss ICS. I didn't have an issue with the battery after "I settled in" Hopefully we can find out what is going on with us.
Btw. I'm back on Gingerbread and I connect to Wi-Fi with no problems.

I tried that several times FB. During my searching I came across a thread (one of those answers sites) that gave your answer as a fix.
I REALLY did my do diligence in trying to get connected. I hadn't seen anyone else with this problem until today so I spent hours trying WPA2 and other configurations. I thought WPA2 would fix it for sure because that was what I had read so I kept trying it. It never worked for me. The only thing that did was having no encryption at all..I started to think that it was a "Black Ice Voodoo thing" lol. Remember how some users, no matter what they did, could never flash Black Ice Voodoo?
Btw the error I always got was an Authentication error.
Thanks for replying
If you're up for it and your router is supported, try OpenWRT. It really sounds like a router issue.
Posted from my SGS4G, thanks to Team Acid development
Sorry. I don't use a pc at work. I have to sneak on xda using my phone and they don't like seeing is on our phones for to long.
I forgot to mention in my reply to the OP that I DIDN'T have a problem scanning for Wi-Fi access. I could do that. I just couldn't connect without getting an Authentication Error. My phone would scan, connect, then discontent and give me the error.
I've had the exact same authentication error, scans, asks for password, tries to connect, then errors out, usually always after flashing CM9 and either a reinstall (recopying to my SDcard too) or a fix permissions have fixed it.
ALSO, this is very important. FORGET the connections in your wifi list after doing the fix permissions. IT WILL NOT connect to a saved connection. Reboot to recovery, fix permissions (don't use a tool within android), goto wifi, click on the connection and choose forget, then choose the connection again and try that.

If you're up for it and your router is supported, try OpenWRT. It really sounds like a router issue.

Thanks Jeff. I'll try it when I get home. I have a Motorola Surfboard that is less than a year old (It's a modem/router combo) so the unit is "up to date"

I will try this. I have done much of what you have stated here maybe even all of it before. But not in the order you describe.. I'd really like to go back to ICS. I had 4G on it (home) where I used to get 3G on Gingerbread. Also at home I needed Wi-Fi calling on Gingerbread but on ICS I had great reception.
@jeff. I just googled OpenWRT and I should have before I said I'll try it when I get home lol. OpenWRT might be to much for me right now.
Thank you for all your help people. I'll update you as soon as I can. I must go sailing now. It's Red Flag!
