Well, why don't you just test it? Try BLN overlooking and so on... If they work, you are using Glados!

[Q] [i9020-T] Trinity UV Kernel Flashing

Hey everyone I'm kinda new to the whole kernel flashing business and I'm trying to flash the UV Trinity kernel to my Nexus S. From what I've read I only need to flash the zip from recovery without having to do any sort of wiping. The main problem when I tried this is that the phone went into a boot loop and wouldn't go past the boot animation for the kernel. I'm not sure if it's because the kernel is based off of 2.3.4 and I'm currently running CM-7.0.3. Morfic's thread indicated that the kernel was made for CM7 so I don't know what's going wrong here.

You have a ROM based on 2.3.3, meaning it's not compatible with a kernel made for 2.3.4.
Try flashing the latest cm7 and then the kernel.

Would it work if I tried a CM7 variant that's based off of the 2.3.4 source? I'm going for a stable phone and unsure about the nightly builds at this point. If not I'll probably just wait CM to update and release the rom.

it should work on any 2.3.4 cm based roms.

[Q] Faux123 stock ov kernal & paul's patch

hey everyone,
does anybody know if these two are compatible to work together or is it something where it's either or? i've been looking through the threads but haven't manage to find any answer for it. i appreciate any answers.
THANKS!
All reports say there is no reason for Pauls patch on custom roms.
oh alright. thanks for responding

Faux kernel is not a ROM. He is using it on that ROM - so the question was not specifically answered.
I had Paul's patch on stock kernel when I first flashed faux kernel, but don't know for sure if it is needed (ie - is the patch of the kernel or something else?).

Let me be more specific in case the OP did not get it. No, you do not need Pauls patch for custom kernels or roms. It is strictly designed for the stock rom to fix a mistake by LG.

The patch was an updated services.jar messed up by lg in the stock ROM. Do kernels also include a services.jar?
If so, then no need when kernels are flashed either, as it would be overwritten. This would be the clarification he (and I) was looking for. If not ??
Note - when I look in a whole ROM zip file - I can find it. Cannot when I open a kernel zip file.

What does that mean.so is the kernel baked into the rom: when we install faux's rom, we automatically get the kernel .

Yes - if you flash faux ROM - you get his kernel as part of it.
But the OP was about using faux (with) stock kernel on the stock froyo ROM. The stock ROM had some messed-up up stuff by LG in the (I have read) services.jar file in the stock ROM.
He asked if he could (should) use the paul patch with this combination. Since the services.jar is (I also believe) not changed by the kernel only, it appears that it should be flashed on top of the stock ROM once (unless you wipe and it is then gone), and then flash the kernel (I did that).
For ALL CM ROMs - different services.jar - no problem. But for EB and other stock based froyp ROM's - I am not sure. If the Dev's built paul's fix into the services.jar -then they are OK. If not, they might be able to use the fix also.
Would REALLY like to hear from one of the Dev's on this. Been all over the forums, and with respect to the kernel only and other than stock froyo ROM's - it has not been clearly spelled out.
its for STOCK roms not custom kernels dont matter in this pauls patch fixes a problem with lg stock rom all custom roms should have this fixed

[Q] Darky Rom BLN

It seems that after flashing the latest build of darky rom that there is no BLN but theres the app for it already installed with the rom, I open it up and it tells me my phone currently doesn't have BLN installed. Bad flash? or am I not the only one.

the app is an interface to a kernel mod. the infuse doesn't have a gingerbread kernel with bln support. the defuse froyo kernel is the only one and it is a bit buggy so it was never built into gingerbread.

KERNEL???

what kernel do you recommend 'cause i just want the stock rom
im using GB 2.3.6
Baseband ver.: S5670XWKT6

you want to stay on stock rom with a better kernel eh?
yes! i want to stay on stock with a different kernel that support a stock rom
sorry mate here no one make universal rom kernel
kernels are developed only for specific roms
and also every kernel is firmware specific, means one kernel with not work with another firmware
what custom rom do you recommend?

kernel questions

are there any new kernels or older kernels that will work with the 4.2 bootlader and the latest .27 firmware? i just finally updated from 4.1 bootloader to 4.2 and latest firmware. did this so i could update cm10.1 from a old june version i had to the latest and greatest 10.2 . on my old setup i ran perf kernel. does anyone know of any kernels i can run on new setup?
Are you looking for a kernel for .27 firmware or a kernel for CM10.2?

more for cm10.2 does perf kenel still work?
No, perf kernel is not working anymore. Hasn't for a while.
I have been able to get some stock based kernels modified for CM10.1, one of them has overclocking abilities too. As for CM10.2, right now you are out of luck, as builds for it are still so new.
Sbdags has O/C kernels that work with CROMI, but those are all stock based.

Ya sucks I was happy with perfect and cm10.1 but of course cm force me to update as it wasn't supporting new 4.1 bootloader anymore. I figured if I was going to do it I'd go big. IL just wait it out. Cm 10.2 is running OK with exception of gas issue.

I got Hundsbuah's kernel working in CM10.1 with O/C
