I got a Chinese Motorola Xoom WIFI only, and it can't run Android Marketplace, I downloaded the apk, and installed it. It worked, but it crashes when I try to log in.
I only have this Chinese app store, which has very few apps.
What should I do to get the Android market?
Should I flash it with a US ROM?
Is it safe except from the usual risks?
Also please note I'm totally new to android, this is the first android device I'm handling I've only used symbian before.
Thanks in advance.

I have a Motorola Milestone on Telus running Cyanogen 6.1.2 for Milestone (Android 2.2, leaked Motorola kernel). My only issue is that the Android Market web site says that I have not opened the market recently on my device and to open it and try to download again. This is not true, and I am able to download and install both free and paid apps from my phone, however the web site will not work. Everything else on the phone functions as it should, with no problems (push, apps2sd, JIT, etc.)
I have tried clearing the market cache, and the download manager cache, as well as reflashing the market via openrecovery. So I was wondering How might I get the web site to be able to download apps to my phone?
Any help appreciated, thank you
*BUMP*, please. Oh I figure I should also mention that installing the stock version of the market wasn't working so I downloaded a blue version by Pendo and replaced the .apk in the update zip with the default 2.2.11 vending.apk and flashed via Androidiani.
Final *BUMP*, I promise. Hope somebody can help me
I was trying to install some apps from android market website, so that I can go back to my xoom after sometime.
I pressed install on new application's page & it gave me error about recognizing my device, after I refreshed the page it recognized my xoom, but it's name is now verizon motorola xoom, but mine is not verizon. & also what ever I do, I can't see the app that I installed with market website in my apps list.
is my xoom hacked or something?? that I it's name changed itself & I can't install anything from the web?????

Calm down. Something from Verizon Xoom is used in the framework for the custom rom, so as far as the market sees we all have Verizon Xooms. I think there may be a fix for this if it is causing you problems, or you could just revert back to stock or just a custom kernel which may not do the same thing. But no, you have not been hacked.
Hello,
I'm the owner of a Samsung GT-I8250 phone. This phone has been specially made for the chinese market. I found the phone on the streets I managed to get it on english language so I could use it.
Things like google play are not installed and i'm not able to use it (I can install it but it's not working). I am able to install apps using wondershare mobilego, however many apps are not working or behaving strange. My guess is that there are some chinese blockers or something on this phone.
Is it possible to re-install a fresh android installation on this phone? Guess I need to root the phone for this, I already found to do this with a program called ZhuoDashi, but I'm not sure if there's a android version available for this phone that I can use.
Anyone have some advice about this?

Okay this has been bugging me out for a week now, I can't seem to download the Chiltern Railway app on to my Vodafone Smart 858, (Huawei U8160) it says when I try to download it it just says my device is not compatible ???
I was running The smart Lucky rom with no problems and I used to have the app on my phone, but my mate thought it would be okay to find a better rom for the phone, he didn't back up any of my apps or files and just wiped the phone, he couldn't get any of the roms to work probably, So I went back to the smart lucky rom, and proceded to reinstall my apps from Google play,
I am now using the Custom Rom LegDroid CM7 U8160 which works really well, and says the os is now 2.3.7,
So I don't understand why I can't download this Chiltern railway App, it even says the minimum system needed is 2.1
Does anyone have any idea to why I can't download the App?
What if I just copied the apk file from a friends phone, would I be able to install the app then?
Any help would be great.
Thanks.

Good Morning,
i had flashed my Samsung Ace with cm10 because i want to use Threema.
But now if i go to the google store, i cant download threema. It shows the message that my Phone isnt compatible.
Threema requires a Android 4.0 or higher and cm10 is a a Vanilla Android.
It seems that the store doesnt look at the android version but the phone model. How can i install now Threema?
And my second question is: Up to now i used Xabber as chat client. After flashing cm and failing at the Threema installation i tried to
install Xabber again but the store means it is already installed. How can i use the app or deinstall/reinstall it?
No one can help me?
