I wanted my Sensation to connect to my wifi network with a static IP address instead of DHCP and did not find a setting for that. Is there a way to do this?
Thanks in advance

Hmm, Interesting question. I don't know what ROM you're on, I had a quick look in mine (CM7) and couldn't see a setting. I did have a look on the market, searched for "static" and a couple of "static IP" suggestions popped up. You could try them.
of course you can. menu -> setting -> wireless & network -> wifi settings, then press menu, click "advanced", and checked the Use static IP.

Does anyone know how to setup a static IP address on the ics rom. I have the silver03wrx collective rom installed on my phone. I have tried all setting and advanced setting and no where do i see or have an option to setup this info so i can access my wifi setup at home. I can set up my network name / security / and password, but i can not add my ip device ip- gateway- dns server etc...
any help is greatly appreciated
Thanks
Nevermind figured it out. it was a little sneeky devil. wooohooo
Here are the steps to set up static ip for anyone needing to do this.
1. go to system settings
2. click on wifi
3. click on add network
4. enter your network ssid
5. choose your security
6. enter your password for you network
7. click save
ok here is where you have to let it find the network, let it connect and aquire an ip address (even thou it is not the correct one) let it do its thing. do not skip this step otherwise you will not be able to configure the ip or save it.
once it says it is connected go back and do steps 1-2
you will see your network and it should say connected.
long press on your network name. it will bring up 2 options.
1 forget network
2 modify network config.
click on modify network config
it will bring up a bunch of settings. scroll down till you see a box that says :" Show advanced options"
click on the box. ( do not save or cancel the window)
scroll down a little bit and you will see 2 boxes
1 proxy settings
2 ip settings <<< click on the lower right hand coner and change this from dchp to static.
once you do this you will see settings under that box input all your info into these boxes *****( leave 3rd box that says " network prefix length" at 24 )******* once you have completed click save and your phone should be connected to you static ip network..
1 ip address
2 gateway
3 network prefix length (Leave this at 24)
4 dns 1
5 dns 2
6 ******* CLICK SAVE ********* not cancel or you will have to repeat the process. LOL Dont ask how i know this 3 times.. LOL
I hope this helps everyone. Sorry for putting up these instructions late, but unfortunatlly i got a little busy trying to fix a loss of root.
If this helped hit the Thanks button.
maybe you could edit your OP or second post and type in the exact solutions, for newer users who may be searching for the same thing? Heck, you may even get some thanks out of it.

This is my working solution after 4 hours of learn/search/try:
Since the main problem for us all was the disabled "save"-button I searched for a workaround.
I found an free App "Wifi Manager" by Kostya Vasilyev in the Google Market.
OK, mentioning this app may sound a little spammy but it isn't!
If you make a longclick on the questionable SSID (see 2nd screenshot in Google Market) you have the opportunity to set the static values. And this includes the good old subnet mask.
By the way: Nice info here: "www gadgetwiz com/network/netmask html" about the mystical 24 entry in the ICS static settings. The "Address Prefix Length" is a new subtitution for the old subnet mask.
Best regards,
fredo
Hi.
I'm on ROM remics 2.0. I can're ask this in the Dev forum because I've not enough posts for this.
My problem is that I don't have wifi settings in options menu. I can're search for wifi nets neither set a static IP or something else.
Can somebody help me?
Its working for me. Go to settings. You will have the wifi on/off toggle button. Instead of clicking the button click on the wifi icon. It will go to wifi settings menu and list all your networks. To set the static ip and all for a network, long press on a network => Modify network. check the advanced settings option and DHCP to static in the combobox. You can manually put all the settings in the section after the combobox....
oh man,
thanks! I've been too dumb trying click onto the icon.....

Go into Wi-Fi settings, long-press on the SSID you are using, select 'Advanced' and change it there.

Hello everyone,
So a few weeks ago my phone just wouldn't start. It would get to the point where you see the samsung logo on the screen and it would turn back off. I took it to the store I bought it from and they fixed it by formatting the phone back to the factory default operating system.
Since then, the phone has worked fine but my internet just doesn't work.
Any ideas? I'd rather fix it myself than have to deal with those people again.
Thanks
Ensure correct wifi config & try static IP address
I assume by internet you mean wifi connectivity. Have you setup your connectivity properly? you can also try setting up a static IP adress (go t wireless in settings, pres and hold the wifi name and from the popup menu select "modify network config" and select the check box for "show advanced config" there you can select static). You can search on net about setting static IP address on android as well.

I don't mean wi-fi. I'm referring to my carriers internet service that's within my contact.
