Hey there I picked up my nexus s today from T-Mobile. I love it ! I am wondering though, should I be downloading roms and doing stuff in the NS GSM forum or should I be doing that stuff from the NS4G? The Model is GT-I9020T , but i want to make sure whether it's 4G or not .. before I screw anthing up thanks !
You should be nexus s development section, the 4G is the CDMA version for sprint

I've recently purchased a mytouch 4G and i've been told to root my phone. I have no idea what the heck this means and I have know idea which software to choose as far as for rooting.
All that froyo yofro does not make any sense to me at all. Any mytouch 4G user other could tell me which software you are using right now as far as rooting your phone goes?

Its really a dumb question but i'm not really keen on mobile networking , but i'm excited about the ICS update for nexus s rolling out for GSM/UMTS devices.
And I was wondering if I have the GSM version. So my question is this:
GSM/UMTS version is the 3G one, and the other is the 4G right?
Feel free to call me a newbie but i don't want to die dumb

I'm currently on the Samsung Galaxy Indulge and want to upgrade my phone soon. I was looking at the Connect at Metro, but heard about flashing the Nexus S to MetroPCS. I'm really interested in doing this and just have some questions:
1. I'm having some difficulty understanding if 3g will work or not. I know 4G won't, but does 3g or is it just 1x?
2. I'm not dumb with phones and computers and likely could flash it myself with the instructions, but how difficult has it been for everyone?
3. What OS is it on?
4. So if flashed I'll get the whole shabang - talk, text, web (I believe the answers yes, just making sure )

So i got a verizon s3 from a friend since he updated to the s4 but im on tmobile and i was wondering if and how i could use it on the tmobile network. i have read that it is possible but i just dont know how to do it. any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Search the development section for a thread titled "Set up Verizon Galaxy S3 as World GSM Phone" or another thread titled "Fully Working Verizon S3 n T-Mobile." You should only receive Edge data once it's fully working so you'll want a T-Mobile device if you want higher data speeds.

i just got a s2 i727 and came from the lg motion i had no problems with 4g speeds in my town with the lg ..my s2 is unlocked and rooted with ucli3 modem,and aokp rom andriod version 4.0.4...i work in san jose and have 4g great speedswith the s2 but at home i get e on top bar...can someone poin me in the right direction..am i using a outdated modem?wrong rom?never had issues with my lg motion....
Yes your radio/modem file is old buy not a deal breaker. Try using UCMC1.(read up on it here on xda all your answers are here).
Another thing you'd wanna make sure you get right is APN settings for your carrier.
Go on GSMARENA.COM and find skyrocket, check out the frequencies I believe it has lte 4,17 so I don't know which one metro uses but you can find a wiki on that too so you know once you've taken care of modem and APN settings whether there is physical band incompatibility present.
