has anyone on at&t yet to see ICS update?
Looks like someone at Google said on Google plus that there work is done for the rest if this year & the other Nexus s version At&t & Sprint have to wait til next year I'm pissed my Nexus s4g gets no love & At&t gets no love unless they push it out next week they should of push it to all nexus s 's at the same time remember your motto Google. If you flash 2.3.6 for the I9020T you can flash the stock ICS ROM that was uploaded last night for the I9020T. All you need to do then is flash the radio for I9020A and you have fully functioning ICS .

I keep hearing people say that. It seems weird, though, doesn't it? If that's really all it takes, why wouldn't Google have just packaged them together and released it for the I9020A? I'll never understand corporate politics...
they may just have an ota schedule to keep from taxing the servers, or maybe they are working on a different radio for the at&t version. In any case there is a rooted version of the t version without the radio in the development section that works on the a version just fine. I have been using it all afternoon with no problems what so ever.

do you have to be rooted to do that, and if you apply the t-mobile version will at&t and google still send you the real ota?

I don't think you need to be rooted, but you'll need an unlocked bootloader. And no, if you install modified firmware, you won't get future OTAs.

My phone's currently rooted (running CM7 if that matters). Since the OTA update for Sprint is supposed to start rolling out this Monday, is there anything I need to do in order to receive the update?
Will I need to unroot?
Is there some manual way of checking for the update on custom ROMs?

I have raised this question on two threads. I used Mikeyinid's rom for awhile and now have Oxygen rom and I have asked in both threads what would be done. People have told me that an update.zip would be released or the rom itself would be upgraded. Just keep your eye on your respective rom's thread and the developer should get everyone taken care of. As soon as the first member of this site gets the OTA, you know it will be posted and then applied to all the roms/kernels lol. We wont have to do anything but reboot to recovery and flash knowing these guys. I give it a few hours after it starts rolling out before they have it locked in lol

That actually makes a lot of sense! Thanks for the answer!
Honestly most of the fixes are gonna be in the radio. Personally I don't even care about the 2.3.5 stuff or whatever else is included. I just want to flash the new radio the second its available and I will happily wait for ROMs to the be updated from that point on
yea, all i care about is the radio too....GB reminds me if vista, everytime they fix a problem, it changes...2.3 2.3.2 2.3.3 2.3.4 ..... 2.3.5? just fix my radio and send me 4.0 !

I think I am going to wait since the instructions in the other thread seem to be for i9023 and it seems to be giving signature error for i9020a.

Thanks.
I just found that the ROM was for T-MOBILE(TMO)
Hold on
Because of minor difference between two models, i9020a will need to go through some changes for it to function properly. I heard that if you manually update i9020a with i9020t ROM, you will either get an error or it will kill your reception

Thank you!
I just found that an i9023 can be flashed the i9020t's rom.
How many days we should wait for?
A week or a month?
This is ridiculous that i9020a users get left in the dust. -.-

Settle down. It's been one day since Google announced that ICS is rolling out. They said it will be happening over the next month.
Patience.
Just flash the Neapolitan rom and be happy besides with that rom you don't loose cwm and still have root.

Why the i9020a is the last one.(except ns4g)
Maybe because it was the last one to come out...or maybe it is a way to keep from overloading the server. Only other thing I can think is that maybe they are working on a new radio for the att version

Probably a mixture of all these. I have an i9020a and I'm running the neopolitan ROM for now. It's great. I was on stock 2.3.6 with cwm recovery. Just wiped all and flashed it. It kept the bootloader and the radio.
im running the tmo ota on my 9020a with gladosv2.0
I´m running the tmo ota on my 9020a with gladosv2.5
I haven't gotten it yet
No update for 9020a yet, -1 for google

The update should come sometime this month. Since thats when google said thats when i9020a will get the ota update. It also depends on where you are.
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA
who needs the ota now when there is so many good roms out there? I think the only advantage to the ota coming out is possibly a new radio that might be better.

It may be this month but Google never said it would be this month. They have never stated when/if the i9020a version is getting ICS. There's a difference between a French website posting false information and Google actually making an announcement. JBQ (from Google) has recently said 4.0.4 is not even finished yet. So I highly doubt 4.0.5 will be released this month before 4.0.4 is finished.
is there anyone out there who successfully took the ota ?????? please pm me..i really need someone who got the ota and is on it now. that has not flashed other modems or roms since taking the ota.......
I am using the stock rom as it came.

ota over the air
I recieved a message from ATT June 25th, about an update. Nothing happened as I'm running cyanowiz. Waiting for a developer to get his hands on ATT skyrocket and make cm9 available. I have no interest in flashing back to stock just to have the new icecream sandwich and the bloatware that comes with it. I like being able to wifi hotspot without changing my plan.
Hey silver, I have an official att I727UCLA3 modem in the phone and haven't gone flash crazy. Took the modem as part of an OTA update.

Umm, why did you bump this, has nothing to do with the OP.
Two, Skyrocket has had CM9 for ages, and is even official with CM9 now.
Does anyone who had a Nexus S which they use on Mobilicity get the OTA?

Has the 4.0.3 been rolled out in Mobilicity in the first place?
I didn't bother waiting. I just flashed over the stock deodexed 4.0.4 rom
my friend who has a nexus s from Mobilicity isn't so savvy about Android versions her phone is still on 2.3.6
I didn't bother waiting I just flashed 4.0.4 from the stock image google posted
My friend got ICS 4.0.4 OTA today on Mobilicity. He was originally on 2.3.6

Forgive my bluntness but why don't you just flash 4.04 since you did 4.03 without issue earlier?
The only reason I'm not is because I had a rather terrible experience last time I was flashing around and was lucky to get my phone back to stock.

Just got my 4.04 OTA update! installed and working! Finally ICS! (Update from 2.36GB)
So I have upgraded my Nexus S i9020a (AT&T) with ROM from the google dev site....
(I cannot post links yet)
developers.google.com -> android/nexus/images
I installed the JRO03E base OS from the T-Mobile / Global version (sojujro03e)
and just the radio from (sojuajro03e)
For the most part things are working fine but it does seem to crash on me while on calls a couple times a day (which is like and 1/4 of the time) so far.
I guessing this crashing is due to my mixing of roms but I figured I would ask if
1) Has anyone else tried this and what is their experience?
2) Is anyone seeing crashing with the sojuajro03e or sojujro03e as is?

You installed the T-Mobile/9023 version for AT&T? Maybe that's your problem. You need to flash sojua for AT&T as far as I know.
I have a 9020 on AT&T and I installed it a week or so ago... been running great.
Thanks for the info

Thanks for the info yes I can go back to that to a the pure AT&T rom. I am just saying there may or may not be some benefits to having a rom that does not call back to AT&T so they can double charge you for the same data you already pay them for.
4.1.1 performance on I9020a?

Just curious here.....what are you talking about?!?!? If you have the 9020A then you need the 9020A ROM. Plain and simple. Double data? Do explain....
