Can someone please post a link on how one goes about rooting their phone now that superoneclick does not work after GB update? I didn't root before the update, and just tried to go through the process but to no avail. I really want to start flashing roms and unlock the power of the phone now that I have seen GB.
correct me if im wrong but i think you need to flash a rom that has root already.
as of right now you cannot root GB.
Run nvflash from the Dev section. Follow the instructions closely. There is a video available. Then flash xboarders rom. Then you will have a rooted updated rom.

First, download the rooted GB 2.3.3 ROM and copy it onto your SD card
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1179748
You won't be able to root with Superoneclick or any other rooting app. The easiest and fastest way to go about this is to flash CWM via NV flash.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1056847
After flashing CWM reboot in recovery mode and flash the rooted ROM and voila!
You have the newest baseband and a rooted GB phone.
P.S. To be honest, I think the only reason that makes it worth going through all this trouble is being able to flash the new baseband on your phone.
Good Luck!

Thank you all! So I'll be able to flash CM7 after this?
Also, I would assume devs are working on a way to use superoneclick, am I wrong?

I keep seeing this same reply and wondering... Can't someone make the necessary root files a flashable zip and then we don't have to flash a whole ROM to attain root?
Actually, so far they can't. The way you get root on your phones is by finding a security exploit so you can write a few files, and busybox simlinks to the system. Then, it installs superuser. No roms are rooted on android by default (well, stock ones anyways.) Since all the current methods to root a gingerbread rom don't work on the new update, this is the only way to do it for now.
Hi all.
Recently used the LG software to update to the 2.3.3 GB release.
Like we all know, I lost my root.
I found a stock rooted 2.3.3 ROM that I want to use so that I can be rooted again.
Can I "Re-flash" the NVFlash on my non-rooted device?
Will it work to let me flash this new ROM? I've attempted to put NVFlash back onto my device, and it appears that it was successful. I'm nervous about trying to power-down and boot into CWM via NV. Can anyone confirm that this works?

That's how I rooted my G2x after ths update. Just make sure you can boot into recovery then backup, wipe data and install it normally. I was concerned about doing it too, but it worked perfectly normal. I used the 2.3.3 rooted rom. You can find it in the G2x development forum.
Let me know if you any questions.

Hey Donatello,
So, did you use the LG software first, and THEN NVFlash a new ROM?
Or did you just flash a 2.3.3 ROM in the first place?
I'm about to attempt the FIRST of those two. Am I understanding correct that is also what you did?
quick Q but nvflash now roots the device? but no SU is on it, i guess just download that from the market and we're done???
If this is the case I'm so happy cause superoneclick is very buggy to me!

You certainly can, in fact that's one of reccomended steps in getting root back is just reflashing cmw.

Phone: Verizon galaxy s3 I535 US version
(/i53.photobucket.com/albums/g71/JlSmall/Screenshot_2012-10-01-08-27-33.png[/url]
Sorry can't post full link yet
To make a long story short, I wanted to receive the Verizon ota update so it would go away. I found the firmware update for rooted galaxy s3 I535 and flashed it. After I rebooted it did the yellow triangle and said software not allowed by Verizon.
Assuming it was a soft brick, I downloaded the Verizon galaxy s3 stock Rom software ,flashed and cleared data sync cache.
It rebooted but still showed open lock and said custom ( not sure what that means) since I set it back to factory out the box format.
After it booted I placed in usb debuging and flashed the stock root software which included su and adb.
It restarted the phone normal with superuser.
As I was downloading the busybody, Rom manager, titanium backup, apps
Verizon downloaded the new ota update and went into there flashing mode. It finished update and restarted.
But now I can not gain root permission to flash cwr Rom to recover phone. This is where I need help please
I will try to update with file names when I get home tonight.
What is wrong?
And last question after I get permission, can I go back to recovery send use my last back up and recover all my apps, data and user files with out going back to before ota update.
it showed the custom unlock because your rooted. ota breaks root and yes you can restore your backup. although you will be prompted for the OTA again. I would advance restore data and not your full backup.

I believe I used the stock root I'll have to see when I get home. But that ringes a bell. I know I used the stock then flashed a stock root to regain root. It said su and adb was with it. It's the one in a YouTube video. But I stoped at min 3:30 bc I have Rom manager to flash cwm
Should I Just try another root or do you have unroot. First then flash another. Usually I run into issues like this.
The other question is should I upgrade to jelly bean

I received notice this morning that a firmware update was ready to install. I chose to install it and the tablet rebooted and start to apply the update. However, it gets to 32% on the update install, stalls, and then reboots and does the exact same thing.
Any thoughts on a solution?

i have the same problm :crying:
Need more info than that.
For example... Are you rooted or stock?
If rooted, there are a couple of reasons off hand I can think of you could be having a problem.
If you're stock, well... All I can think of is wave your hands in the air, and wave them like you just don't care. Pretty sure that won't fix the problem though, but if it does, report back! xD
I'm rooted.

I have the exact same problem.
GT-N8013, rooted, stock rom with root injected.
I called Samsung tech service and they said I should send my device to them.
The only way I can get out of this "update->reboot->update->reboot->..." infinite loop is to get into ODIN mode. (I can't turn off the device)
I decided to re-flash my rom (stock rom with root injected) in ODIN mode, but it does not have any effect and the device is still on this infinite loop. I'm worried if I messed up the device even more by doing that.

Try using Odin to flash the high on android cwm recovery. Once I did that I could restore a backup and boot to android.
Thank you! but I've been on stock recovery so I never flashed cwm or made a cwm backup. How can I restore to a backup after I flash the cwm recovery?

if you've never flash CWM, that means you never backed up via CWM, which means you can't restore to a back up. You have to use ODIN and flash a stock firmware on your note to recover it
Yes I'm trying to find a stock firmware for N8013 (UEALGB) but no luck. There is only "root injected" stock firmware, which is causing the problem right now...
Has anyone resolved this problem?

I have a N8013 and was running the stock, root injected firmware (UEALGB). Today I got the update notification. I tried to install and it kept looping. This is what I did:
1. Flashed the stock firmware with ODIN. You'll find the stock firmware here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1847706
2. When my tab rebooted, I got another update notification. I installed it and it worked. I'm now running UEALI3.
I didn't lose any data. I just lost root.
This worked for me as well. Thanks a lot, Vincent9756!:good:

Flash the recovery version for your firmware. If you have stock, flash the GB recovery. If you have LH2, flash that.
If you want to save root, use OTA RootKeeper before doing anything.

Im sorry but what do you mean GB Aaah that was the primary stock recovery before i updated to LH2 lol, now i get it.?The one that i have is the CWM HighonAndroid which was used for the Method 2 to obtain root, so then i jus tdownoad the stock LH2 Recovery, and use OTA rootkeeper before Odin LH2 Stock Recovery right? Will there also be a stock kernel and recovery for UEALI3 ? was thinking of possibly using the Triangle Away after this, possibly might be needed. Though maybe not.
Just want to make sure that everything is normal after this lol
ok... giving it a shot now, and using the OTA RootKeeper, lets see if this works
Everything Got updated !!! OTA seems to have worked which was awesome.
Testing everything to make sure that Root is fully funtional .
Used RootChecker, and things seems fully working!
Thank you loads for the help!

Yeah, there will most certainly be kernel and recovery uploads.
the only issue you might run into is CWM not sticking. If it doesn't reflash CWM in ODIN with reboot unchecked. Then after you flash it, boot into CWM. When you select reboot, it should offer to prevent stock recovery from replacing it.
and you're welcome, glad to help
Guys u might think this is a dumb question but how do i flash stock recovery with odin like were do insert the file i know how tp put in dl mode and get my comp to see my tab in odin and i did flash the prerooted injected stock uealgb recovery to get root i just dont know were to put the files in odin some help would be greatly appreciated, cause i need to flash this first before i do the ota update correct ?
