How does one add accounts to the "Me" profile? - Nexus S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Installed the official ICS release today and am loving it (though there are a few things I still need to get used to). So far I've only had one issue I haven't been able to find a solution to. The ICS People app includes an entry for "Me," a personal profile. I added my information to this, but I'm wondering if there's a way to also attach third-party accounts (Google+, Twitter, Skype, et cetera) to it, like I can do for my regular contacts. It doesn't seem to do so automatically, and there's no "Join" option in the Edit menu like there is for other contacts, so I can't imagine what the procedure would be.
Any thoughts on how to do this? Does such a feature even exist? It's not a big deal or anything, I'm just curious, and my obsessive side is bothered by not knowing.

Anyone? No one? Going once...

Twice.....

Yes u can ... go to just click edit and click Add another field and then select "IM" then in front of there it already says AIM but u can change that too Skype G+ or WinLive even Yahoo hope i helped somehow

That doesn't seem to actually add Connections, though.

Are there any updates?
I deleted the ME Card, and after that i can only enter all Data manually.
But as far as i remember, there where multiple accounts linked:
* google+
* google talk
* xing
* whatsapp
* skype
Hope someone can point me to the right direction

I don't think you can add them individually, but if you go to settings/applications/people you can limit it to just have facebook contacts for the people already in your contact list. It'll still show updates for all your facebook contacts tho.
Sorry if this doesn't make much sense....I'm not great at explaining these things!
Thanks, thats exactly what i wanted all done!
No probs, glad it worked!
Now, back to Zune backgrounds!
oh, ive just noticed that people who write their names differently on facebook wont appear on my phone. anyone else have this problem? for example, if you have a "john smith" in your contacts, and if on facebook hes called himself john "smyth" on facebook, then WP7 wont be able to add the FB contact "john smyth" to the WP7 contact. anyone else have this problem?
Yep, I had that as well. I've a friend in my contact list called Jim but his facebook name is James. What I did was link the contacts together before I switched to just having facebook contacts that were already in my contact list.
Again, sorry if this doesn't make much sense!
Yeah, I was going to say you can link them manually - probably the way to go!

Facebook app

Which app do you advise ? The Samsung integrated in the Social Hub or the official one from the market ?
I come from a TP where I really liked HTC's integration of facebook in Sense. Not too invasive and living quite well with my exchange account
Right now my contacts in my outlook (2011) on my PC are linked with their facebook profile, and so are they in Sense. With my Tab I worry a little bit about putting a mess in a system that has found its balance
Any risk to duplicate contacts if I use the Samsubg app ? Or the Android app ? Will they merge properly with my exchnage contacts ? Stay aside ?
I just dont wnat to make the step to find out after I messed up my contact list (More than 1200 people so clenaing that up would take me a few days....)
Hi I use Facebook from the market and also use one called boo

If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
The built-in one is pretty much for synching only, any actual facebook viewing would need to be done via the browser.
I switched from the built-in SNS client to the official Facebook client and didn't experience any problems.

I haven't installed anything yet Not tryig to fix anything just trying to be sure what I'll do wont create troubles to my contact list
The built-in app is just meant to sync your existing contacts on the phone and match them with facebook friends ? Or it adds all the facebook friends ?
The official app doesnt do this ?
Don't get the account permissions confused if you install the market app. Its annoying to find you gave the stock app permissions that arent on the market app.

Both versions sync contact pictures etc. The official app gives you the option to sync pictures+status updates with all friends, just those with existing contact entries, or none at all.

Anyone ? Maybe I am making too much fuss about this but I dont wnat to mes up my exchange contact list...
Not 100% sure about this, but I don't think it will mess up any of your existing contacts.
When logging in using the official Facebook app, it will create a sort of 'profile' for all existing contacts -- it won't merge info with the actual contact. You'll see this when you edit a contact, there will be 2 (or more) tabs when editing the contact.
It's like a 'Metacontact' in Trillian wherein it's only a merged 'View' of a contact, but in reality the data is in separate 'profiles'. The Facebook tab is uneditable and will only display info.
The only problem I have so far is that when creating a new SMS, it will display -ALL- contact numbers and e-mail address of contacts, even if the number is exactly the same:
i.e. I have a contact named Bob Smith in my Google, Exchange and Facebook accounts, and they are merged as one account. In the Dialer, all the info is merged into one contact when displaying, but when editing, they are editable in 3 separate tabs.
However when I create an SMS and scroll to find Bob Smith, it displays all contact infos of Bob Smith, even duplicate ones, like if I have his number +123456789 on Google and Exchange and Facebook, it displays 3 same numbers when selecting a recipient.
Edit:
Also, when you sign out or remove the Facebook app, it will delete the Facebook 'profile' of the contact on your contacts list, maintaining the state of the previous contact before you logged in / installed Facebook.
Thanks a lot, that's good to know
I already saw the mess it was having google contacts and exchnage contacts (I usually maintain both... for 1200 contacts!) The worst is for contacts for which I entered only the first name... they happen to be all merged together (Well done samsung... They could have defined a merge key a bit larger than just the name........)
What about when you use the Samsung app ?? Someone knows ?

Facebook for myTouch contact issue

I have the facebook app installed on my phone. When i went to upload a photo onto facebook it gave me the option to use the facebook app or facebook for mytouch. i went ahead and tried it through the mytouch option and i signed into my account which seemed to add my facebook account onto my phone as something it automatically syncs. it synced my facebook contacts to my normally contact...a cool feature and all BUT i dont want it...
i deleted the facebook account off my phone but my facebook contacts are still mixed with my normal ones. i cant delete them either, i tried long pressing and also tried going INTO the contact to maybe edit it and it wont let you do a thing.
any advice?
Were the contacts linked with facebook accounts?
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA App
You may want to sort you contacts, from the contacts > Menu> View and uncheck facebook. It won't delete them but you won't have to deal with them.
Also try clearing the data in the Facebook for MT app, not sure if it will do it but it should't hurt.

They were these were contacts that i've never had in my phone before then they appeared on my actual contacts. Some did/didn't have contact numbers depending if they had them in their actual facebook and what i'm noticing is they all have the little circle by their name greyed out meaning i can video chat with them. I deleted all my video chat programs and cleared all my data for contacts/facebook/video chat and they wont go away.
These people have never been on my phone before it happened right when i tried out the facebook for mytouch.
*i wouldnt mind this but i play a lot of farmville and "those" games and half the people on my friends list are "neighbors" only*

Sadly i'm not rooted and therefore can't post a screen shot...unless theres another route you can advice me on then definitely. Maybe ill just take a photo of it with my camera if there is no other way lol.
After clearing all my info again and uninstalling any qik updates it shows qik in the corner of all these contacts, none of them are linked, and about half have actual content info.
From the contact list - long press - call mobile, send contact as vcard, add a fave now!
From within the contact - clicked on the menu button - all, link, send contact, save to sim, set speed dial
From within the contact - tried pressing every item i could and i can only "Edit" the number to something else...i cant do much else with it.
thanks for the help =)

Sorry man, I tried everything I could to recreate this on my phone with no go.....
Make sure to check your contacts on the gmail site, make sure they are not listed there.
If that does not work it looks like you will need to do a factory reset. Sorry

I was afraid of that...
I went ahead and rooted my phone, deleted qik completely off my system. That took care of it. Hope this doesnt happen to anyone else =/
Thanks for your advice though, i'm surprised it didnt work. It was extremely "stuck" and quite stubborn.

It always takes some time before new twitter contacts show up in the people hub. Even forcing an update in the email and account settings won't make them show up.

Assuming that you've given it a bit of time to update (although mine tends to go pretty quickly), have you tried clicking on "Choose a Contact"? They will be listed under the name they have on Twitter which may or may not match their real name (it probably doesn't or it likely would have picked it up automatically).

hi thanks for the help. can't seem to find them with the choose a contact button. ie guy's name is andy s***, his google contact details show up fine, but can't find his twitter details at all. synchronizing twitter doesn't seem to help. i must be doing something wrong somewhere, just can't work out exactly what!
All I get from Twitter is the contact's picture on my Samsung Focus.
I don't see information from Twitter on my Samsung Focus.

Hmm, I'm not sure then. Try to unfollow them on twitter, give it just a bit of time and then refollow them. Also double-check their name on twitter and see if his tweets show up in your people hub.

[Completed] Android Contacts

Hi All,
Very new to XDA, first of all a grant thanks and appreciation for all the developers and management team of XDA, for creating such platform to share thoughts and each and everyone's questions.
My issue here is the contacts management in Android. I think Google hasn't given that much importance in that section while upgrading to Lollipop. And even in Marshmallow too, the same story. If you are using a stock android or a GPE version in any of your handset, you might have end up with your phone showing all the contacts from your gmail account, including the email account that you only use in gmail for your mails. Yes its ok in a regular basis for those who want to show all their contacts contents in one place, but will be too confusing rather annoying if one wants to have only their phone contacts to show up there.
I hope it was there in KitKat but somehow missed when we upgraded to Lollipop. I seriously would like to know from all of you is it there for all of you or just i am one of the few ended up with not knowing the correct settings somewhere hidden inside.
If anyone there can help or else need to wait fingers crossed to wait for any of the forthcoming updates from Google to have this option enabled.
Thanks & Regards

Hey,
There is an option to customize which contacts you want to show up.
Open the contacts app, click on the overflow menu button (3 dots) and select "Contacts to display".
From there you can choose which contacts you want to show up.
Hope it helps.
Cheers.
