Hi guys, I'm on a Google Nexus S i9023 working on Softbank Japan. I've downloaded the official ICS rom and tried to update but in vain. Can anybody tell me what does the thread mean by T-mobile version? Anything different between them and the AT&T ones? 9020? Or 9023? I really can't wait to bite my first ICS! BTW, I'm on CM7 latest nightly builds. Help! Thanks.

I don't know what the difference is besides the radios. Maybe someone else can elaborate on that. Either way, the T-Mobile version is the i9020T and the AT&T version is the i9020A.

So, 9023 cannot get the update yet?
I think I got it! It is because of the CM7, I went back to official 2.3.6, and bang, it worked!

It works great, but you have to flash it after you flash back to the stock rom 2.3.7. obviously the root is lost and there seems to be no solution to that at this moment.
Wooohoooooo
OMGOMGOMG
Works with my Dutch Nexus S ( I9023 )
I'm using a i9023 with no problems at all except I can't accept and deny root permission(the root it self works though)

i9023 error while searching for networks
Hi,
I updated to ICS 4.0.3 in i9023 Nexus S. Everything is fine but it is not able to find the mobile networks.
On 'Search for Networks' it is giving "Error while searching for networks".
Can someone help me solving this or reverting back to Gingerbread?
Thanks!!!
Me too. But whatever, we got ICS and root. What a good day!

You downgraded via rom manager using the stock images section? I believe that is a tmo image with a tmo radio so you'll probably need to flash an att radio for it to work or flash a stock ATT image.

Hope this helps. Good luck!
I flashed back to the other ICS ROM I was using before and no cell service. Everything else works but just no bars or internet via the towers. It reads theres a sim though. What do you think this is? I think the hardware gave
UPDATE: Im an idiot and it worked thanks a billion man
does anyone have the Telstra (Australian) OTA update.zip file for ICS?
Can't you find your model in here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1063664 ?
Even if it's another carrier, all the way in the outback , I find it very hard to believe that your NS is branded.
So, you should give one of those a try.

The terms for the Nexus S are that it shouldn't be branded by the carrier. It's meant to be the "real" Android experience.
does anyone know which development rom I should use in australia? I have a Nexus Phone and LOVE it, to make my XOOM the same would be epic I just don't wanna ruin my XOOM.
Since it's telstra it's probably an i9020A (850mhz compatible). You can root the phone, flash the OTA or full ROM (there is only one official ICS for Nexus S out atm, this is for i9020T and i9023). After this you won't be getting any reception, you'll need to flash the old i9020A radio. All files are easily found with a search or looking through stickies.
Did u buy it straight from telstra?
If not it is a i9023

Is there a way I can get ICS on the Nexus S i9020a model? This model didn't get the ICS update ever because there was some problem with it. So I was wondering if there was a way I can get official ICS on it, for it to run smooth and how its supposed to without bugs.

What is the source of this statement ?
I think AT&T has a hand in this issue for a reason or another... However in the general section , ICS was ported successfully to I9020A (without the ICS stock radio) ...
can you describe how this was achieved for us nobs, or point us to the right place to read up on it.
Thanks
hello
I am wondering if there is anyone here that still has a stock sensation from Bell.
I am just wondering which version of android are you running and has Bell even attempted to do over the air update yet?
well im sure it will take time for bell to upload their plethora of bloatware
hahaha yup I remember I purchased the phone the first day it came out.
They put so much garbage on its ridiculous ! I've rooted right away and flashed a clean rom.

Thanks lumin30
Both of you, bug Mobilicity for a stock image to restore your phone. lol. Wind won't give me one but maybe Mobilicity will.
I can get it to about 90% stock right now and I'm sure I'll get it almost there. The problem is this. To dump the stock phone, we need it rooted to gain access but the only way to get root on 2.3.6 with the latest patches, is to flash a rooted kernel, which is great but then prevents us from dumping the stock kernel. It's a catch 22. Need a hacked kernel to dump the kernel but flashing the hacked kernel erases the stock kernel. lol.
The package linked by lumin30 will get you rooted, and all the options from there are explained.
tnx

Hi,
I will check with mobilicity and see what i can do to get the files from there. I really doubt if they would do it for us.
Meanwhile i am trying to get the files from someone who has a official unlocked phone purchased which is carrier free.
He hasn't tampered with it yet.
let me see what he can do for us.
Thanks
