This is posted for info only. To those of you wishing to flash to the newest radio combo without flashing the new rom then you must (and must)
Flash the newest kernel that was released last night. This is directed mostly towards people still using sense roms with stock HTC kernels.
If you flash the new radio combo over some of the older HTC kernels you will get stuck at the white evo screen.
Also since this is being asked all over this forum...
There is nothing wrong with you HTC clock.
This is a issue on HTC side so don't wipe your phone expecting to fit it because it wont.
If you want that little animation then delete the widget. Add it back but this time do not select current location. Enter the name of your city I. Or the closest match and select it to solve the issue for now.
If you are running netarchys kernel then you may be OK but I would use the new kernel first.

and as it turns out, there is really no reason NOT to flash the newest rom, or some variant of it, since sprint re-integrated the numbering system for all evo HW versions as of this release
see www.goo.gl/grStG
I just updated without any issues. Booted perfectly fine. HW 0002
updated fine on cm6.1
To those that are successful post which kernel you are using so others will know.
The issue seems to be mostly on sense roms using some HTC kernels.
I personally flashed over netarchys kernel without issues.

Yeah this is a bit generalized. I had no issues with the actual flash, however my 4g is stuck in scanning after a profile update.
Ok with kings 11

ACTUALLY, if you flash the newer radios combo, just make sure your running a custom kernel (e.g., netarchys). It'll work just fine with no issue and no need to flash any newer ROMs. Just an fyi

Stuck on boot screen w/ HTC's #17 Kernel(Undervolted) from Caulkin's HD ROM. Used netarchy-toastmod-4.2.1-cfs-bfq-nohavs-smartass-universal (No HAVS) to get the phone to load up.

Apparently this is a Sprint or HTC service error has nothing to do with the update.

ok with 2.6.35.9-Cyanogenmod #2 (CM 6.1.0 stable stock kernel)
sorry if there is an exact thread just like this, imagine there is but i wasnt able to find it. i just got my inspire today im familiar with android phones but i know the phone just came out so im wondering if someone can walk me through this, from what i understand ill need to root, flash the cyanogen7 rom then flash a kernel that will allow me to have sound. i was wondering which kernel i would need and what is the easiest root method currently available. thanks for the help guys!!
edit: there is no modified version of this with a different kernel that will allow us to flash the inspire kernel and make sound work??
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=917271
There is not a CM7 for the Inspire yet. I can't wait until there is tho, I'm not a fan of Sense... but making due for right now.
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
i thought you could install any desire hd rom, there is a cyanogen7 rom for the hd right here. and just flash a kernel over it to get the audio working. or am i wrong?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=917271
cyanogenmod has its own kernel that's made specifically for AOSP. A normal sense kernel will definitely not work for it. It is cool though, I flashed it for a few minutes and it's wayyyy quick with the 1.51ghz kernel they have on there, too bad we don't have source to get sound yet
Yeah just played around with it. Superfast. Love all the gingerbread stuff too. Tried fladhing those kernels the phone wont boot
bump, i see people posting modified versions of cm7 for dhd do they have different kernels that would allow the sound to work on our inspires?

Yes, yes they do.
Check out the android development section. There is a working kernel for sound on CM7 and I'm using it right now.

You can't make such a bold statement, and not include info like what ROM you're running and other relevant info. There's also no need to start a new thread...there's already a thread on the Gingerbread kernel in the development section.
So, because you're having problems, you want to warn everyone on problems that no one else is having??..
Faux's kernels are working just fine for me.
Faux's Kernels are fine. Update and don't listen to this Guy.
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA App and a perfectly working Faux Kernel.
WOW. Really, Really ???
Running without a kernel...That's amazing...
Faux's kernels are rock solid...Running 2.5.1 since release and NO issues...
then why has my mytouch freezing alot when i get it out of sleep
Plus i am on RoyalGinger V1.6
OP is an idiot. Faux kernel works fantastic. If you have problem with the rom, ask in the rom thread. Don't try and talk about something you don't understand.

Had problems with it the other day. Running stock rom. Kept losing signal and data. Wifi stopped after about 10 minutes and had to restart the phone just to get it working again. Went back to what I was using before and problem went away.
Not sure what the real deal was as I have NEVER had a problem with his kernal.

The kernel being discussed here is faux's Gingerbread version.
Wouldn't it be great if there was a Mytouch 4G forum that was specifically for roms, kernals, and any other type of hacking? Oh wait there is one and this thread is in the wrong forum.

you're a retard.. the reason why your phone is freezing on lockscreen, is cause you either have setcpu installed & have your screen off settings too low! don't have Max set below 368, which 245 freezes your phone! set min& Max to 368 and you will not get any freeze ups and save a lot of battery also! try it!
just don't make a thread about smashing someone's kernal who works so hard to make it for us! faux has great kernals, & you should give him the credit.
Lol sorry. Was on latest cm when tried it. Long day forgot what all I went through with this. Went back to stock rom after it was screwing up. Prolly try again with cm and this kernal. Think maybe it was a bad download causing the problem for me. Although would think I would get some kind of error when installing it.

First check whatever Rom is fully downloaded. Then check to make sure you fully downloaded the kernel. Make sure you have the proper kernel for your rom. Make sure you wipe cache and wipe dalvik cache. Then install the proper kernel when it boots up let everything load for 4-5 minutes then reboot. If your using a low voltage version try stock version. Also use the cfs kernel and not bfs since your phone is lagging.

I just wanted to throw my 2 cents in for those who have had problems with their G2X rebooting or locking up and requiring a reboot. I update daily to the latest Cyanogenmod build and have already been going on strong for 6 days without a single reboot/lockup.
Before this, I was experiencing multiple lockups/reboots throughout the day.
Except for battery life, I'm happy with my G2X now.
Ditto.
CM7 is what brought sanity back to the phone for me.
Only reason I reboot is because I flash the dam thing every night.
Can't wait for the RC or stable release.
I guess I must be a lucky one. I haven't had any reboots or issues like that with my G2x. The only reason I rooted this phone was because I suspected the bloat was causing my Audio to studder. After rooting and installing then Ultimate G2x Rom with faux's stock kernel, I can say this g2x is now one of the best phones I have owned. I can't help but wonder how many issues with rebooting and what not would be solved by removing the Tmobile and LG crapware they put on this phone.

Same with me, stock with faux. I also applied paul's fix.
Are you using the pre-UVed kernel? Did you UV even more? Right now I'm undervolted -25mV in addition to the -50mV in the kernel
The only rom that gave me trouble was the unofficial GB leak. Every few hours the phone would be off in my pocket.
All other roms ran like a champ. Been running CM7 since #0, only straying to try other roms for a day. No complaints.
To OP, CM has always been rough on battery life. Try using another kernel and you should get more life.

yea u would def have to restore your stock nandroid backup, because no one has just the stock kernel from lg u can flash, so yes u would restore the backup, then if u wanted to flash the kernel wipe cache and dalvik then install fauxs kernel and your good.......also and if u dont like it which u probably will, just restore the backup again, and u should really try ebfroyo 1.0.5 it looks just like gingerbread and u have the stock camera app and its so quick, awesome rom
Im def going to give ebfroyo a try! Thanks for the help bro!

well the rom comes with fauxs ext4 kernel on it.... but supposedly people are having problems with ext 4 and recovery so what i did was threw on fauxs ext3 kernel on over it, use the 1.5 one, just wiped cache and dalvik then got the rom how i wanted it then made my backup, this way i know i wont have problems with the ext3 kernel
I've been searching for gapps froyo with no luck...I'm on my phone and dont have a computer available at the moment, can someone help please? Sorry, thanks!

Hey guys!
I had to uninstall my Android Revolution ROM because of reboot issues :x and well i also gave CM7 a try but since its in alpha i had alot of issues with the battery draining way too fast (cleared the stats and everything).
After CM7 failing i tried Android Rev again since there was an update and i had 3.0.4 and never really bothered to check the thread to see if there were updates so i installed 3.6.1 and then put the No Sense mod over it (lets face it. Sensation cant run Sense 3.0 as well as the EVO 3d, insufficient RAM?) and battery was draining way fast and random lock ups -> reboots. Uninstalled that ROM and tried Android Revolution WITH sense 3.6.1 and again... lock ups and reboots.
Yes i installed all the kernels and Radios suggested with each ROM
ANYWAYS the questions i wanted to ask before derailing my own thread:
1) When i loaded up my first backup before any of the ROMS i had installed, did the original kernels and radios flash back and everything went back to how i had it? (read: laggy sense UI and poor efficient use of the phones resources, hurry up stable CM7 D
2) how can i OC stock Sensation to 1.5ghz? Its rooted and it has the original everything (IM ASSUMING) also i have SetCpu which i downloaded.
i have tried some methods via command prompt through the computer but lets face it, im a retard, kept saying something about access being denied so i couldnt install some kernel to flash it. Im used to just going to the CWM and installing from ZIP and presto kernel installed.
PS: if its of any use... Kernel Version is 2.6.35.13 - g3422292 [email protected] #1
PSS: really i heard that 1.5ghz OC and Undervolted was the most efficient for battery life, temperature and performance so this is what im looking for but open to suggestions. yes ive looked everywhere and i couldnt get to install it
Anyone? :x
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using XDA App
1. When you restore a nandroid everything goes back to default including the kernal. The only thing stays the same is the radio and s off.
2. The reason you can't overclock is because you have the stock kernal, I don't think it is overclockable.
So if you want to OC it try a new kernal.
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using XDA App
Thank you so much lol. But do i have to look for kernels compatible for stock? My battery has lasted a long time since stock.
What about returning to the original radio?
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using XDA App
Most if not all work well with stock. Try fauxs123's or bricked.
But I'm not sure about the radio be really careful with radios too. I heard if you get a bad download it can brick pretty easy. So I haven't messed with those.
I'll look for a guide for you.
