[Q] Model number on TF101 is TF101G - some apps incompatible - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Well, updated my pirme rom to 2.1 last night... (maybe should write in the prime thread, but i don't have 10 posts yet so I can't) Discovered when I tried to install GTA 3 this morning that I couldn't find it on the market app. went to the online version, but when i tried to install it there, nothing happened. I soon discovered why, because of the update of Prime, the Model Number on the settings screen had changed to "TF101 G" from previoslu only "TF101". I have tried editing the build.prop and sending the apk from my phone to the TF, but no luck on getting it running yet? Any way of changing the Model Number without ****ing something up? Also tried wiping cache btw...

I posted same issue this morning for the same reason.

Looks like it's the same in revolver too.

sorry, didn't see that thread. Well, let's just hope a solution will be available soon...

[Q] Android New Market

Few days ago I updated my Motorola Defy to Froyo.
After I updated I noticed the market had the old version, I found a zip file of the new version and flashed it, everything seemed to be fine, the market was working well, but then I tried to update an application and it suddenly gave me a FC...
I even tried reflashing a different zip but it still gave me the error.
Since then I can't access the market..
Anyone knows what's the problem/how can I fix it?
Thanks.
Does it occur when you try to update one particular application or any appliation?
I don't know, because The first application I wanted to update already caused it, and if it matters, and I don't think it does, it was Basketball Shot
did you give it a chance to automatically update the market for you? When I flashed to a new rom on my Captivate, it was still on the old market for a few minutes until it installed to the new version.
Yeah.. I waited for 2 days and it didn't update it.

GTablet Experiences

I originally purchased a GTablet from the original Woot! sale based on reviews during that sale that this was a wonderful tablet once a new rom was installed. The first tablet I purchased as a gift for my wife. I received it on a Friday after I got off work. Within about an hour, I was up and running with TNT Lite, a fully functional app market and Adobe Flash Player.
I primarily followed this guide from these forums. I had zero problems and everything worked flawlessly following the guide.
I was so impressed with the tablet, when it came up on Woot! again, I decided to purchase another one. This tablet arrived quickly, and by all appearances was the same as the tablet for my wife. I checked the stock OS, installed the OTA update and verified I was on 1.1 3588. I proceeded to follow the guide again and ran into problems immediately with the app market.
I used the basic app market fix listed and no matter how many times I did it, I couldn't see the majority of apps. I then began looking around the forums and found this guide for the titanium backup method. I followed this exactly and still the market wouldn't work.
I found one more guide (can't find the link now) that instructed me to edit files on the tablet to known working configurations. I grabbed the files and they already had exactly what the guide was telling me to change to. So no luck there.
I then remembered reading that some Roms had a working app market out of the box. I figured I'd try VEGAn or Cyanogen Rom instead of TNT Lite to see if this fixed this problem. This is when I ran into another brick wall. I was completely unable to load these Roms on my tablet. After performing the install in ClockWork Mod and rebooting, the tablet would get the ViewSonic screen with Birds and never complete the boot. I left it on that screen for as long as an hour and still nothing worked.
I came back to the forums looking for more information. Buried deep in the VEGAn 7.0 thread I found a gem from someone who had a similar boot problem (they made no mention of market problems). This person said they were able to fix the boot problems by using NVFlash to restore the tablet to original settings and pointed towards this thread as a possible fix.
I followed the steps in there directly. I was hung up for about 20 minutes trying to figure out how to use NVFlash and ClockWork mod until it dawned on me that accessing for NVFlash was used with the Volume Minus button instead of the Volume Plus button. So if you are confused in that section, keep in mind they use different power up methods and don't conflict.
After using NVFlash and restoring back to the original settings I was able to get into the stock rom. I tried the OTA update immediately and it failed after the download. Restarting the tablet fixed the problem. After you are able to boot back into the stock rom, I recommend a restart just in case. Then do the OTA 1.1 3588 update.
I then followed the original guide again. This time, everything worked as expected. Using TNTLite and the Market Fix worked the first time. I formatted and installed VEGAn and it worked on the first time too.
I decided to make this post as a thank you to everyone out there who works on these ROMs and everyone who has posted fixes to their problems. Hopefully this will help anyone else that is having problems.
My wife and I absolutely love our tablets and this wouldn't be possible without the fine people here.
TLDR;
Market was broken and known Market Fix didn't work. Used NVFlash and it fixed it.
NVFlash uses Volume Minus not Volume Plus
Restart Stock OS after first boot before installing OTA update
Thanks for posting this. I plan on switching to vegan from tnt lite soon. This is good info to know ahead of time.
Thanks for the info from someone who is waiting to theirs in the mail.

[Q] Galaxy Tab P1010 "Out of space"

Hi everyone, this is my first post and I recently bought my first Android device (yes, yes, I'm a 100% noob). BTW, I also did the search (google and xda) for this problem, without results.
This is the story:
- I few weeks ago I bought my new Samsung Galaxy Tab wifi (p1010), with Android 2.2 Froyo, and it is not rooted or flashed with some rom.
- Search on the market for an official version of Skype, but no, at this time there was no one.
- Then, I find one on getjar, works ok, but only audio.
- A few days ago I uninstalled the getjar version an install another one, version 2.0.0.45-signed, from villanrom, announced with video support, but at the moment of accepted a video-call the application always fails and closed.
- After that, I uninstalled it, and wait for a new and better one.
- Here is the problem: I have tried with another versions (villanrom 2.0.0.47sig, xda-Froyo-droidrx, the first one from getjar, and others, even the "official one" 2.0.0.47 from the market) but always I got the same error "Out of space: Skype could not be installed. Free up space and try again"
- I can instal other apps (apk and market) without any problem.
- My Summary is: Program 438MB/1.87GB, Personal data 10.00MB/69.77MB, Internal memory 4.38GB/12.74GB", with NO External SD card.
Please, I need some help to resolve this problem, before doing anything drastic, like an hard-reset
Best regards and thanks
Jerome
[note. sorry for my regular english... ]
Please. I need some expert help with this problem.
Best regards
Jerome
You can try to run Titanium Backup, to see whether there still is some kind of skype installation on your tablet. If Titanium Backup can find something, then try to uninstall/wipe data/force remove app (all in Titanium Backup).
Another thing u could try is to use Root Explorer, and browse to data/app/ and see if there is still some skype in there (com.skype.raider-1.apk?). If there is, delete it. Also go to data/data/ and see if there is still something from skype there (perhaps com.skype.raider?). If there is, delete it.
Finally you could try to clear your dalvik cache. Usually that's done in clockworkmod, but as I'm not sure if you have that on your tablet, check here.
If none of that helps, I would backup some important stuff and then do a factory reset. Or better yet, put a nice new rom on there (either official or unofficial, no idea what's out there for the galaxy tab). At least go to gingerbread (android 2.3.x), or honeycomb (android 3.x) if that's available for your tab.
good luck!
PS; as for skype, i would recommend to use droidrx's mod. He's making great progress and most likely very soon there will be some kind of "final" and bug-free version.
Many many thanks.
My tab it´s not rooted yet (I think if I do that then lose guaranty)... I will try to do a factory reset or firmware update first... Only if that fail, then I will apply the root solution... BTW, wich one it is the better method/app for root a g-tab (with the un-root option included)??
Best regards
Jerome
Just did a 5 minute research, and apparently for some people there is already an official gingerbread update available. I would rather do that then a factory reset at this point. Gingerbread is a much better version of android than you have at the moment.
Rooting your galaxy tab is dead easy apparently, read here.
If you're thinking about installing a custom rom, see the Galaxy tab android development section.
Yep, but the update it's not available for everyone... I got installed the lastest version of Kies (2.0.1.11053_99), and it's shows "Current fw version = Latest = PDA:KB4 / CSC:KB4 (CHO)".. May be because my country (Chile).
SuperOnceClick looks fine, but with this issue
Note:
I have tried unrooting the device and rooting it again and this is not working. so this is to let you know that you will have to reflash the firmware to root the device if you unroot it again using this software and try to root until some one finds a solution

Yea, that means that you can still get your tablet back to the factory state (including root), in case you wanna bring it back for warranty. Which is probably never going to happen anyway.
So my advice would be just to flash a gingerbread 2.3.4 rom, as i've noticed you don't even need to have root to do this. Who knows how long chile will wait with distributing a new android version?
no te preocupes!
EDIT: just be careful with one thing, i've noticed not all customs roms will work on your tablet since you have a wifi only tablet. keep that in mind when looking for a rom and make sure that the rom will be compatible.
Apparently I'm not the only one with this specific problem... It's look like some bad install/uninstall process with the "VillainRom" version on the GTab.
Google search:
villainrom Skype with Video Support for Various Devices... #55
(Sorry, but the system says that I'm too noob to publish external links.. )
Sadly, they have not released a solution yet
Best regards
Jerome
EDIT: Searching a little bit more, find this:

OK, I´m not the first one with this specific problem, but some says even with root they can´t delete skype directory from system.
Jerome
Solution:
Run terminal and type:
"rm_-R_/data/data/ com.skype.raider" _ = space
i failed the oparation a few times until i got it..
After that i'v downloaded Skype again, but this time it installed successfully,
Im very disappointed with Skype team failing to fix the problem and having there paying customers to Root there devices !
Jerome,
I guess you are in the same boat i am.
I went to Chile in June and bought a P1010 at Falabella store. My FW is the same as yours and there's no ROM to upgrade (official or custom).
There's no development for it here. Also the video skype is for the GB not froyo.
The only tweaks i could do was the root (z4root) and the OCLF.
Sorry for this bad news... But at least i loved to visit your country. The Piscosawer, the "CONGRO" fish and the "Cafe con Piernas" 8))

[Q] 4.1.1 S Note Crashing (New APK!?)

Hey all,
I updated my UK N8010 to the German release of 4.1.1, but since then S Note has been crashing constantly. I tried a full factory reset of the device, as well as a couple of backups of the app, and have tried fully uninstalling it and re-installing it from an APK I found online, none of these have managed to get it working sadly.
Some searching shows people having issues with S Note, but none like this, and none with any fix. So, has anyone else had this problem? And if so, what did you do to for it? Also if anybody has the APK file for the version of S Note that ships with the 4.1.1 release that would be great if you could share it please?
Ta!
I could use this too, in my case it doesn't crash but does have a blank UI.
EDIT: Had same issue after installing new Redemption ROM which I thought was weird, so removed all Pimp My Rom tweaks and now S-Note works fine. So in my case it was something I did (possibly the Sony Bravia tweak, who knows), whoops.
Oops

firmwhere?

Hi, very new here. I am very glad this place is here too.
I recently could not contain myself and rooted my SM-G935A. The experience was new to me but I figured out what Odin is all about and got to it. I used the Max Lee method and followed along via video because this is my first android and I just wanted to be sure I did it right. Everything worked flawless.
A week passes then "unfortunately (insert app name) has stopped" errors everywhere and it all starts with google play store. I tried clearing cache and data for them but it makes no difference because and once I reboot that phone I am done for and the only recovery option that works in erasing the phone. Once a week or so passes the same thing happens.
My question is simple. Does anyone know what I can do to resolve it? Part of me wants to just go back to stock firmware and re-root but I cant find stock firmware for baseband (G935AUCU2APG1) which I am using. Someone asked me to try sammobile but searching for my model brings no results. I read that I can use the unlocked firmware and I have downloaded it but I dont want to use it because of fear that I might go further into this rabbit hole and possibly have issues rooting again or even bricking my phone.
Any suggestions would rock my socks off. If I jumped the gun and posted this wrong or if I can provide any other helpful info let me know. It's been a while since I last looked for help but last time I searched this was all I could come up with. Came here from reddit. Thank-you all in advance.
EDIT: Found the right firmware in the following link. I danced around what I was looking for by searching "install g935u firmware on g935a" or something along those lines. I am still interested in what people think about the "unfortunately google play store has stopped working issue" that i described causing a cascade of other versions of the same issue. Also If anyone knows how easy it is to get back from say "G935UUEU2APEH" to "G935AUCU2APG1" if anything went wrong. If there is a better version of the unlocked firmware I am all ears. I am just pleased to know I can get back to normal and have.
This is the link to the stock firmware and the att unlocked firmware
