[Q] Bought a 32Gb MicroSD and it does not work on eeepad transformer tf101 - General Questions and Answers

I bought a 32 GB microSD card from Trascendent. When I install apps that are supposed to be installed on the external SD card it does not do that. It goes to the internal SD card. When I sync it with my PC it shows both devices. I browse and all teh stuff is in the internal SD card. The external SD card is completely empty except for a folder that reads LostDir. How can I get the external SD working?

you have to root your phone and make a partition for the apps

I rooted the phone already using razorclaw
I can not partition it us using rom manager because it tells me I need clockworkmod recovery installed. I can't flash clockworkmod because when I tried to go into recovery boot by pressing power volume down and then volume up, the android icon ends upbwith a warning sign in his belly and it stops there. Thanks for your help

[Q] micro sd not reading in my vibrant help

heres the deal i am using a 32gb micro sd card in my samsung vibrant flashed a backup image onto sd using rom manager now i deleted recovery image but my laptop still reads it as 8gb instead of 32 and no device can mount, read, or format it how do i fix it
in recovery, wipe the SD card, it should work

Phone is asking for SD Card

I flashed my friends G2x Gingerbread with Clockworkmod via NVFlash. After that, I rooted the phone with jboxer's zip. I was going to install EaglesBlood rom but when I booted into recovery and tried making a backup, it said "Can't mount SD Card" and it didn't create the backup.
I had to go into ROM Manager and create the back up and install the rom through there.
Now that the ROM is flashed, I can't use the camera because it says "Please insert an SD card before using the camera."
Also, in the notification bar there is an SD card symbol with a "!" on it and it says "SD card removed. Insert a new one"
What made the phone ask for the SD Card? Was it CWM?

Which card? The internal one that comes with the phone? Because I have an SD card and I put it into my friends G2x and then I was able to use the camera and everything.
The problem is that it's asking for the SD card and without it, the camera doesn't work.
Is an SD card needed to create a backup and flash a new rom? Is there anyway to use the External SD that's in the phone?

The memory in the phone is the internal "sdcard" not the external one. Making backups requires a physical sd card. What good would be making backups to your phone memory and then your phone gets hosed and you cannot access that memeory anymore and poof, backups are gone. Without an sd card the camera should be able to use the internal memory. Check the settings in the camera and make sure it is set to use internal memory. Also, some roms switch the internal "sdcard" and physical sd card around, which can get real confusing. But in recovery the physical sd card is always where the backups go (at least as far as I understand it).
Yeah I got it now. Cm7 does switch the internal SD with the microsd that's why the camera wasn't working, but there's an option to switch them around

CM7 assumes you have a physical sd card and that you want it to be the main memory the phone uses for "sdcard". I personally prefer to leave it as is to avoid confusion. It is just that if you use internal memory and your phone gets borked, you lose everything in the internal memory (a common problem with Galaxy S devices).
Is there an option for this in the Miui (latest) rom? I am having the same problem.

Very quick question

When you install from SDCARD to flash whatever (Custom Rom, Kernel, etc.) does it have to be an actual SDCARD on the dock or is it in reference to the "Sdcard" internal memory (16gb, 32gb) that is built-in storage for the Transformer?
EDIT: i mean micro sdcard.
that depends on what you whant to do.
some installs need files on an micro-SD-card.
what do you want to do?
CWM recovery only read from the removable micro sd card.
Thanks guys, yeah it was to flash things thru ClockworkMod. I ended up just pulling the microSD out of my phone to install stuff. Kind of annoying but it works.
It's because /mnt/sdcard -> /sdcard is provided by the internal memory on the ASUS TF101, and CWM expects the tablets card slot, AFAIK.
From my own past "Crap, that didn't work" experiences with nvflash, I can tell you that the docks SD card slot will NOT work, you need the MicroSD card slot on the actual tablet.

[Q] 1 or 2 sd

my tablet has an internal and external memory, on my external i have CWM and other files i need but everytime i boot it goes to CWM cause my tablet reads off the sd, so i bought a 2nd sd card, will it be safe to use it and just swap back to the old one if i need to update cyan? or will it confuse the device?
If your tablet boots off of your external SD card I don't think you can remove it without causing some kind of error.
I would recommend moving whatever it needs to boot to your internal memory so you can freely switch out SD cards for media or whatever purpose you'd like.

SD Card isssue

So I got the 32Gb samsung Sd card. Had a 16Gb in my phone. Wife had 8Gb in her skyrocket. Took my 16Gb card, copied all data to PC, then put 32Gb in my phone. Copied all data from pc to new 32Gb card on my phone. All good. Then took wifes phone, copied all data to pc. Installed my 16Gb in her phone, erased all data. Installed all her data off pc to 16Gb card. All seems good. We both have the Skyrocket SGIII R4 on phones with CWM recovery. HER phone will recognized SD card in CWM. MY phone cant mount SD card in CWM. Why wont my phone with new SD see it in CWM? Do I need to format it through windows?
SD card works in all other aspects...connects to windows, restores from mybackup pro....Put the 16Gb back in my phone with all her data, and CWM will let me install fron SD card.
What format is the sdcard on, fat32?

Yes. I took it out of package and put in phone, says FAT32 on pc
Tried formatting thru phone and copy data back on, but same thing. CWM says cant moun E sd card...
Tried reinstalling CWM. Wont mount sd card
What CWM are you using?
Try using this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1566613
And make sure the microsd clicks with the spring when you insert it on your phone.
Flashed that in odin, booted into recovery, chose install zip from sd, select. Then it just flash the clockword screen over and over every 3 seconds....
Went back to CWM i think 5.0.2.6. And sd card "clicks" in place.
BUT....I went to mounts and storage in CWM, and chose mount sd card. Went back to install zip from sd....and boom, theres all my zips!

Haha nice, I had a problem with the later CWM not detecting my sdcard so I went and flashed back to the old one and it worked just fine, didnt really have to remount but I guess that was needed on your end. :good:
