[App] MiLocker MIUI Locker Screen App - Verizon Droid Charge

Downloaded this today off the market and it is awesome. For those who dont stray from the Charge forum check it out.
Its great since we do not have MIUI running on the Charge.
Best of all it is free.

Great suggestion! However, I keep getting Chinese as the default language in the themes. Did you have this problem? If so, how did you fix it? If not wth am I doing wrong?

You can do it, but it's kind of a bear to do... What you need to do is to copy the MTZ files from the MIUI folder of your SD card to your computer. Next, extract the MTZ's with 7Zip and scan all of the XML files for Chinese. Next, go to Google Translate and translate the text, then replace the Chinese with English. Once you've got all the Chinese translated, use 7Zip to repack everything as an MTZ again. DO NOT alter the naming of any of the files!!
Place the repacked MTZ files back into the MIUI folder of your phone's SD card, overwriting the existing files.
Boom. English.
---------- Post added at 07:11 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:09 PM ----------
Now the real question... can you get this to work with NoLED? If so, how?
---------- Post added at 07:15 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:11 PM ----------
P.S. You can install a ton of themes that are English from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1134657

Wow. Thats a lot of work. I just used the ones from the lockscreen thread and just manually put in sd card folder. Some didnt work. Others worked perfectly.

This is an awesome, "must have" app. I have a small annoyance though and maybe you can help. Upon restart, the default lockscreen is the one used until I open milocker. Anyway around this?
I am using infinityROM 12/11 w/TSM

thanks for the info KarateExplosion6...well, might as well try it once and see what happens...

Hi!
I've downloaded a few themes from the link above and they don't seem to work for me... I've downloaded, extracted (if zipped) and moved the into the /MIUI/themes folder. Application shows them properly but, after aplying them, I just see my screen background instead of the lockscreen. What could I be doing wrong?

There were a handful that unfortunately didn't work for me but about 75% of them worked fine.
However I also just did the google translate to a few downloaded from the app and it was actually quite simple.

Just an fyi I think the screen size effects the lock screens you can use on your phone. I think that might be the problem.

I just had the same problem with my Droid 3 (thought it was just my phone/rom).
So did a bit of comparison between the themes from the Miui thread and the themes downloaded with MiLocker.
It seems that there is a folder in the Miui themes called 'lockscreen' which shouldn't be a folder...but instead should be a zip file without the zip extension for it to work with MiLocker.
So what I did was take the folder called 'advance' inside the 'lockscreen' folder and made it into a zip file (lockscreen.zip). Then I renamed it to remove the '.zip' extension. I deleted the 'lockscreen' folder from the .mtz file, dragged this file into the .mtz theme file and voila! The theme works!
Hopefully this will bring joy to some people.

Thanks for posting this since I'm sure people where confused as to why some themes worked and some didn't. For people that want to know why this is done, here's why:
Afaik, there are two reasons that the lockscreen folder is left as a folder and not already zipped with the extension removed. First, and mainly why, it is because the actual MIUI theme engine (which MiLocker is based on but not the same) will actually do all the work for you and convert the lockscreen folder to the correct format. The MIUI lockscreen thread was meant for people using MIUI and don't take into consideration people that just use MiLocker. Second, by leaving lockscreen as a folder it makes things a bit easier and faster for people to do their own customizations to the theme/lockscreen by just having to unzip one file rather than two.
Man I miss MIUI, so easy to theme .

I do like MiLocker but man it's been frustrating for me on my UK T Mobile stock 2.3.3 SGS2.
At first I wanted 1) a decent looking theme 2) with a camera shortcut and 3) music widget/player thing.
You don't know how hard it is to find these! Well from the official in app availible themes anyways.
*Even then with the music player, it's weird, as to activate it you have to click on a certain part of the lock (varies for each one).
When I finally found several I discovered 2 major major flaws. Can you guys try this and not/say it's just me?!
Play some music then lock the screen and now try to raise the volume.
For me using the physical volume buttons,
1) the screen turns on.
2) it only changes the volume by one (higher or lower).
How annoying is that?! Is this a problem with my phone or settings?
---------- Post added at 04:39 AM ---------- Previous post was at 04:13 AM ----------
^Try tried some of the pretty themes from the other thread and oh man they are so nice but I still have the same problem!

So anyone got time to help me out here or confirm they get the same results as me?
Thanks if you can help!

Trying to follow your guide but confused...
1. If you zip 'advance' surely it becomes 'advance.zip' and not 'lockscreen.zip'?
2. What did you rename it to and with what extension?
3. The theme I have is zipped - do I change this to .mtz and is this then where you deleted the 'lockscreen' folder from?
Update: this is the theme which has me stumped http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=642540&d=1309491017
I have extracted it but there's no .mtz in there...?

How's everybody's battery react to using this app? Does your phone enter sleep the same frequency as the stock lock screen?
I always feel like I am getting a little bit of an extra drain, but after doing comparisons I think it is just in my head....battery drain paranoia.
Sent from my SCH-I510 using XDA App

i'd hate to beat a dead horse and spam but can you guys look at my problem too?
regarding battery drain i don't notice that much of an issue. i think there may be some but not really something that should be major.

^Hey cheers for the reply but no need now!
In 1.3 they've fixed and acknowledged it was a problem.
"What's in this version:
(Feb.10, 2012,Version 1.3)
Support Android 4.0.
Support pattern password unlocking(need to enable "lock home key" in setting).
Support media keys.
Support volume key adjusting while playing music.
Fix some one-key lock related bugs on certain device models."
The screen still turns on though but that's something I guess I can live with. Cheers!

dead after reboot
I shutdown my phone over night with MIUI Locker installed and working. Started my phone this morning... no lockscreen. Enabled/disabled Miui Locker and it worked. had to kill the app properly between enable/disable but it worked.
Fix to make it work after reboot? I'm on CM7.2

A new "Water" live wallpaper?

you know... the one with the leaves?
i heard there was some live wallpaper made by someone with that water effect but improved a bit and on a different background and no leaves if i recall...
so my question is this...
could one perhaps get the leaves back, but maybe change them to some... different type of 5 fingered leaf? or even a "Pick your "leaf or something"" setting available would be nice too...
background while youre at it...
the small personal wars you could have with peoples faces with your fingers besides the obvious is astounding. this could be worth something...
i have no idea how to even approach the idea.
so i give it to you, and hope you will do well with it... peace.
You seem to be asking quite a lot. I think personally people develop Live wallpapers to their own tastes, not to others'. Maybe you should look into making your own...

Try this
Code:
adb remount
adb pull /system/app/LiveWallpapers.apk LiveWallpapers.apk
That will pull your old Live wallpapers. Put those where you can find them later and put the new LiveWallpaper.apk in your <sdk>/tools folder (because you can't have two files with the same name in the same directory).
Then proceed as directed in the first post.

No settings. Just the option to save it. You can probably change the back ground though by pulling apart the .apk
** EDIT **
Okay, so I tried opening the apk and replacing the droid_bg.jpg only to find out whatever I replace it with comes up as a blank white screen (I even sized it to the odd 1025x1025 size the old one was even though both of them had large white areas in the .jpg). If anybody else wants to give it a try, I am attaching the wallpaper I was trying to use. It is the default regular wallpaper from the Droid X

I'm a total newbie, so I haven't rooted yet. I don't think I'm considered a "power user" yet, so I didn't want to accidentally brick my phone. I came over from blackberry, so I'm still getting used to this new system. Soon enough I'll be getting my hands dirty with this rooting business.
Anyways, I don't have the ability to pull the original Live Wallpapers... would it be possible for someone else to pull theirs, and post the APK online for me? I've been using "AppInstaller" to implement all of the APK's I've downloaded. Just been playing around with the Galaxy S LWPs. If it's a hassle, don't worry about it. I'll figure root soon enough.
Thanks for the quick reply, by the way!!

standalone version
Credit to ccunningham83 for posting this.
Standalone version
This is what I did:
decompiled,
changed the package and app name,
removed LWPs that install by default,
rebuilt,
signed
updates:
1)removed unnecessary images too, file size now 1.1MB
2)added Blue, Cyan, Green and Golden eyes!
3)added a blue eye version with alternate background.
4) 7/15/10, added grey version by request.
5) 8/30/10, by request added a red version with black background. No smoke.
6) 9/15/2010, by request added a new red version with the smoked grey background
7) 1/20/2011, green eye with colored smoke
Screenshots:
To uninstall:
Code:
adb uninstall com.android.wallpaperx
APK attached, install as normal.
MediaFire Links:
[blue] [cyan] [gold] [green] [red] [blue-alternate bg]
[grey]
[red-greybg]
[green-colored smoke bg]
Here is a video by myghtymouse19 showing all versions on an EVO:
I had issues trying to remount so copied the file to the root of SD then used Root Explorer to copy and paste as R/W into /system/apps/ then click on the the apk and install it... then youll have it. Also even though you overwrite the default wallpapers, this file is the default wallpapers file with one file added the droid x eye lwp, thats all... so your not loosing anything.
Thanks Britoso! Works great!
Brilliant work guys, especially britoso.
Just adding that this also works fine on the Desire. I just used Astro to install britoso's .apk and it worked fine. It even kept all my current Live Wallpapers and just added DROID X to them.
Hope no-one minds but I made a post in the Desire forum pointing to this thread to share the love!

Simple Black Theme

Just copy and paste the apks contained in the zip into /system/framework using root explorer and reboot phone manually if you have to. Yes the files are taken from older captivate themes. Blackfroyo for twframework and some basic perception theme template for framework, so credit to them.
And the notification colors are actually blue...not orange. The screenshot program messed up the colors.
http://www.multiupload.com/VS4FBH54UW
Also If you post some links to some awesome themes, I'll port them over for you. As I'm too lazy to dig through all of xda. Just make sure they are Froyo themes to make it easier...Or else there may be difficulty on porting as easily.
I'm already working on porting MattedBlues over, in case anyone asks.
Sorry for the noob-like question, but both framework-res.apk and twframework-res.apk already exist in the /system/framework/ folder. Am I supposed to overwrite them?
I'm new to the Android world and am still figuring my way around.
Thanks.

Glad to hear your anticipation. Jabbawalkee (the guy who made it) and I take MattedBlues very seriously. As a matter of fact, the Theme Chooser version is just about done in case you run CM on any other devices. Anyway, back to the topic at hand.
One issue. When using the stock music player lock screen controls the playback control buttons are not shown. instead it's the number 1(previous track). 2 (play/pause). 3 (next track) . they controls still function but the images are not the proper ones.
I tried to paste these after doing a backup of original files and it says there is not enough memory to paste the files?
Nevermind, I am an idiot.
I was not looking at how much free space I have and I was out of free space.
I moved angry birds .apk to sdcard and copy paste worked great. I also copied the stock .apk files from framework to sdcard just in case
Working now.

I had the exact same problem as you did trying to get that wallpaper back...
I really do like it a lot & I think it's the best of the entire bunch that is included in that ROM.
The long answer to your question is in this thread, second post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1480248, which states,
How i can get the blue eye (or any other) wallpaper again?
Which ROM was it in? Do you still have the .zip?
- Pull the system/app/Launcher.apk
- Unzip it. Yes, apk is a zip file.
- Look in res/drawable-hdpi folder.
Although I did manage to open the apk file mentioned above, I did not see that particular image at all. I even tried a bunch of other files, and of course, it wasn't there, either.
Needless to say, I managed to find the wallpaper I was looking for on another of lumin30's posts and I saved it to my harddrive.
*************************************************************************************************************************
I stand corrected. If you follow lumin30's instructions, (written directly below this post), then you will indeed find that exact file. It is called, "default_wallpaper.jpg". From what I can tell, it's the only wallpaper that is in that file.
*************************************************************************************************************************
I know that some images need to be resized depending on the launcher that you're using. I kept having problems with my wallpapers fitting correctly when I was using Go Launcher EX.
I read around on the Internet & found a post suggesting an app called Wallpaper Wizard ii. It's available on Google Play Store for free. The good thing about that app is that you can use it on whatever image you want.
Before you give up, perhaps you should give that a try.
The default wallpaper is found in the \system\framework\framework-res.apk.
Then in framework-res.apk --> \res\drawable
I tried the picture you posted but when I try to use it as my background, it's a blurry and not the whole picture
Sent from my SGH-T959V using XDA
I pulled it straight from the ROM for you.
I use this one...

Got any more backgrounds? I'm looking for brighter ones since all icons in VB are kind of dark. Thanks!
does anyone know how to put the whole background in?? because it forces me to crop it and i dont want that
Whenever I used Wallpaper Wizard ii, I just set it to "scale" & it looked good to me.
I can't tell you for sure what all that did, but I was satisfied with the results.
Good luck & don't forget to let us know if you find something that works better for you.
Put the wallpaper in framework-res.apk in the res/drawable-hdpi folder then reflash the rom
i found it, do i just post it anywhere in the folder??

Couldnt he just push the .apk to /system/framework and boot to recovery and fix permissions? That would avoid having to reflash and download apps right?

Did you ever figure this out... I know we can change the icons but only built in one's show up
If your rooted, you could use a file explorer app like root explorer to go into data/app and find your themes appicon folder. Inside you will see a base.apk. You can copy that base.apk onto your phone and extract it, or pull it onto your pc and extract it. Inside you will see a res/drawable-sw360dp-xxxhdpi-v13 folder. The icons are in there. Save them in a folder on your phone and manually edit your icons in Nova on your homescreens and /or folders to replace icon.
I know it sounds like a bunch of work, but it really doesn't take that long. It's about the only way you can do it.

I've been trying to make a similar change. I'm using the Sense 7 Launcher and the only icon I have left is the "Apps" icon. I'd like to change it out with this icon.
I have looked in data/app/com.htc.launcher-1 and copy that base.apk to a different location on my phone. Opened the base.apk. Found res/drawable/all_apps_button_icon.xml
My question is what is the best way to convert my image to an .xml and replace the one in the base .apk so I can paste it back into the original location?
Ugg. I sure hope that made sense?

Yes, as long as all those steps are done in that order. It's okay, but yours are way better than I've seen in the HTC Themes store
Google+ in the blink feed is the only thing that isn't working yet for our phone

Thanks. My AnaKonda theme got released in the Sense themes about 3 weeks ago. I think it's in the others section. But those themes are pretty simple and don't really get into deep theming.
Sweet. I hope it gets lots of hits. Can you see how many downloads it has?

If your rooted, you could use a file explorer app like root explorer to go into data/app and find your themes appicon folder. Inside you will see a base.apk. You can copy that base.apk onto your phone and extract it, or pull it onto your pc and extract it. Inside you will see a res/drawable-sw360dp-xxxhdpi-v13 folder. The icons are in there. Save them in a folder on your phone and manually edit your icons in Nova on your homescreens and /or folders to replace icon.
I know it sounds like a bunch of work, but it really doesn't take that long. It's about the only way you can do it.
