Hi, how do I make it so my g2x turns on it's light to let me know whenever I have a new text? I had this feature on before but it stopped working a couple of days ago and I can't seem to find the setting for it again. It currently works for missed calls but not when I have a text message I didn't read.
I am on CM7

The app I use is LG 2X/Black/3D Notification. Works great for me. You may need root before it will work.
But before I didn't need to use an external app. I don't know why but it stopped working for me all of a sudden.
Go to settings>CyanogenMod settings>interface>led notifications, then assign to whatever you want. But I also use the LG g2x/ black/ notification app. It works best.

Thank you! It works now It's weird though, I didn't have to do that before.

After installing 2.1, blink no longer seems to function.
Does anybody know why or have any solutions?
Thanks
Yeah i noticed this myself but I thought cause I hadn't went through to do the setup again for it, I'll see how it goes since I change some colors up.
I have found blink is working, but only when the phone is locked
For me it is not working only for incoming SMS

Have you tried handcent SMS? I've used it on every android phone I've ever had (with exception the samsung captivate). It's highly customizable & has a free version. If you are determined to have the stock messaging app... I came along this post:

The posted black backgroud MMS.Apk seems buggy.

I have Infin1ty rom on right now, before that was stock, then oxygen, then zulu and opensoju.
All these roms had one thing in common----BLN wouldnt work for me.
I tried reflashing, wiping, doing EVERYTHING that i can think of! and BLN just wont work. I have NO clue why, i reflashed roms, bought the pro app and still didnt work.
The test notification works fine. Im running the stock messaging app and GO SMS, and for some reason nothing works.... im getting annoyed it works for everyone else accept a dozen or so of us xda members.
BLN works fine for me using Opensoju. Make sure to download BLN from market.

It's not the Rom which is important but the kernel.

I have always had Netarchy kernal! in every rom i put that kernal on! its the newest one as well. I might be switching to trinity however.....but im so confused why this doesnt work for me!!
i have all the correct kernal and everything, im so confused
I use a Trinity kernel with NSCollab, and it's ok.
Sorry, i can't help you :-(
So i just flashed the trinity kernal (one in the first post) and it still doesnt work with BLN.
all that happens is phone vibrates, i see my widgetlocker theme, then phone shuts off and the bottom keys arent lighting up. Whats going on?
I followed what this guy did here:

and it works for me.
It's not a perfect replacement for LED indicator. It only works on new messages, i.e. it won't stay until you clear your notifications.

There is an app in the Market called LG 2X/Black/3D Notifications that works with the G2X. It worked without root with 2.2 but apparently it requires root with 2.3.3 due to some changes LG made to the phone.
Yup I use the one phburks suggested works very nice, the developers of the app fixed the root issue with 2.3.3, works flawless
thx
just got it, works perfectly thanks!

I wouldn't call it fixing the root issue. I just downloaded and installed the app and it required root permission to make the file writable and has to do so at every boot. So if you are not rooted it will not work on 2.3.3 on our device.
Does not work for me.

No it is not possible. LG changed the permissions on the file that controls the soft key lights in Gingerbread. It is now a read only file. In order to write to it and turn on the lights you must be rooted so the app can change the permissions.
Their always the no led app

I think this one sucks compared to the CM7 one. CM7 one has slightly better options and less annoying. That is, unless someone can tell me how to not get this one to "pulse" the lights and give the option to cler with touch of home key.

No. it basically turns your screen on when you get a notification and shows icons depending on what you have...mail..txt..etc. It keeps the screen on until you check it (i think you can set it on a timer tho). But yeah..its a battery drain.

On the new stock 2.3.4 that was just released, there are 2 features I miss greatly.. one is the dimming of the led lights.. and the other is using them as a notification. Has anyone found an app that works? I did find 1 notification app but from what I read, it sucks the battery down cuz it flashes.. can't do a steady light.
Thanks !
Did you try LG Touch LED Notification? It has steady light option.

ha, i'm getting all kinds of help on this thread. thanks dude! Ok, I'll try another shot to get help on this thread. On the new 2.3.4.. every time I get a txt, my screen turns on for just a sec or 2... I can't find a way to keep the screen off on received txts. Kinda stupid if i'm in a txt conversation w/ someone.. screen keeps coming on.

There's a link in the thread I started about the application for notification toggles in this sub-forum. As to your question about the text things. Your phone lights up while you're texting? That's kind of normal don't you think. The screen coming on when the text comes in is a stock messaging thing. Nothing that can be done except installing a custom messaging application, as far as I know, I like that it lights up.

ha, not while i'm texting... duh, the screen would need to be on for that, haha. When I receive a text, the screen turns on. The other day I was txting with a friend then I got into the middle of something and she sent another 5txts.. and the screen kept turning on. Pretty wasteful on the battery..
