Videoplayer with zoom and pan? - General Questions and Answers

Anyone know of an mp4 player that will allow you to both zoom and thrn pan around the screen? I use mx player, which has a nice pinch zoom, but the view is centered only...no panning around.

I don't get it... As I said, I use mx video player, which does allow pinch zoom. But it doesn't seem to allow you to pan around after zooming, unless I'm missing something?

Bump. Any mp4 video players support the ability to both zoom AND pan? Or at least the option to zoom in on a specific area (like the left or right side of the screen) rather than simply zooming toward center?

asti has a option called move+zoom but i never tried it.

BS Player (even Pro) doesn't allow to drag or pan (move) video while zoomed. It's just centered.
Picturen Lite is the way to go. You can zoom and pan a video like if it were a picture, except that the video keeps playing.
MX Player doesn't allow either to pan, only to zoom on the center of the video.

Yo people...it is available in MXplayer since v1.7.24. TO do that first u need to activate it. Go to settings>player>controls check Zoom and pan
Now u can pinch to zoom and after pinching(without removing ur finger) swipe to pan
Enjoy responsibly
Press the Like button if u have the time/care

It's better to have things sorted out in a single thread that create a new one each day you want to comment on something. Unless you want to spam the forums of course. The recent answer, even to old problems, always is good to help out new players.

This is to edit a video. We are talking about zooming and panning a video at the very moment you are playing it, without having to edit anything.

Here's what you're looking for.
It's now 2017, just in case someone still needs an app that can zoom and pan...

Hmmm if you want also to watch youtube you need profeasional version but for me it is enough without youtube. I was amazed that it can show full hd video without laggs even if i surf the net and etc. Tried also stickup but didnt like it, laggy, not free
Agreed, the app is just fine as it is. It works super smooth on Note as well as my Asus transformer tablet. Might buy the app if price is reasonable to support the developer, very professional quality app.
Thanks man, downloading now to give it a try.

hmmm, seems that we need to wait for more available formats, as i can see this app not so long time ago apeared, so we need to wait
but i have tried .avi and for me it works. Maybe try to install mx video player and it will install codecs in your phone or you have custom rom, because im using lpy stock
ive had a good play with the free version and there are a couple of minor issues.
cant select multiple audio tracks 720p/1080p mkv
with subtitle checked still doesnt show subs 1080p mkv
crashes too
but apart from that this app is fecking awesome. i think it has single handedly restored my faith in android. i was browsing imdb while watching hd tv shows with no lag what so ever

floating video player?

Just got my note a few days ago...in many YouTube videos I see people showing off a floating video player but I can't find it anywhere
You can make the stock video player float. But the ultimate floating media player app is "StickIt". Made by the same people who created "Overskreen" floating browser. They also make air calc. The floating calculator. They were the first on Android with floating apps, resizeable screens just like on a pc. You can have several different websites and videos playing at once on same screen. Add that to stock note multiscreen/multitasking and you have a multitaskking beast. The stickit and overskreen browser are well worth the price. Nothing compares to them.

The only thing I see with stickit is that you can't play video files from the network streaming them can you? With the stock player I can. How can I make the stock player float?
Actually some streaming stuff does work through stickit. Like YouTube and other sites
But to make stock video player float, there should be little icon up top. Like a square with a little arrow on its corner or something. Its one of those little icons on the top. Once you press it, screen gets small and goes into floating mode. Same thing if you open up browser, then press multiscreen and choose video player. Then on video player side, youcan press the icon to make it float instead of split screen.
I'm pretty sure the stock floating apps on the original galaxy tab 10.1 were first but stick it is nice. But the nice thing about the stock app is that you can go back and forth between full screen and floating, I wish stick it could do that.

I use supervideo from the market which can float any video, to stream from external sites such as you tube, you need to get the in app purchase to enable it. This app also allows you to maximise the video when needed to full screen.
I've added a screen shot for the native player that shows what you need to click to float the video.

Figured it out. The button to float isn't there when playing back network videos. I I do have the button when playing videos from the note. No idea why they exclude networked content from floating really dumb.
Thanks. At least there's an explanation. Does suck.

these features makes mx player unique...bleu8888 bro plz note down in ur diary

Enable Video Pan or Zoom and pan from Settings 》Player 》Touch Controls.
If you have enabled Video Pan than you can Move to any part of video after zooming by swiping with two fingers.
If you have enabled Zoom and pan, then you can pinch to zoom & leave only one finger and swipe with the other finger. It will move the video screen. Else you can move to any part by swiping with two fingers as said before.

Why is there no native Chromecast support for this app...the best video player app for Android.
Many other video player apps have it, but I cant stand to use them.
So you can cast with the built in Screen Cast/Mirroring on the phone, but that is not good for video at all, as it is laggy and of poor quality.
Edit: "DLNA/Casting/Chromecast - IN PROGRESS"
that is in the sticky post from a post in 2014!!!!

Sorry for keeping you waiting. Our development team is currently working on it. Hope it will be released to the public in the near future. Meanwhile, Stay tuned with us for further updates.

Option to hide video zoom button, API for sending title+year for opensubtitles search

Can you please give us an option to hide the video zoom button in the lower right corner, as I never use it, since you should watch the video at the resolution it's supposed to be in.
Also can you create an API for when you press search subtitles it will take that title/year and search for it in opensubtitles.org to give you the best results. Instead of just going off filename. Give us the api option for our app to send you the title/year info to then send to open subtitles.
On another note, give us an option for subtitle preferred "Forced"
Thanks alot! The player would be perfect after these options are added.

Thanks for your valuable suggestions. MXPlayer already provides an option to enter your own keywords while searching for subtitles. Have you tried the same?
With regards to your request on forced subtitles, would you mind elaborating more so that we can share your concerns with our relevant team for further review?

I know you can enter your own, but it would be nice if you had an API for developers to send the movie/year to that field so it automatically search for that instead of depending on the filename.
Forced subtitles are mainly for English films or tv that contain a few forced subtitles that can be like some small Spanish parts or elvish from Lord of the rings for example. They are mainly called Forced or English Forced. Right now you give us the option to choose our subtitles that automatically are picked, but there is no option for Forced, just English. I don't want to have subtitles for the whole movie I just want them for the portion where the language they are speaking isn't English.
But can you please give us an option in settings to hide the zoom button on the bottom right of the player. It would make the player perfect for me and others..
Also can you give us an option to disable the up and down function on the player. Like the volume or brightness. I don't use either of those as I use the app on my TV, I accidently turn down the volume all the time.
Thanks!

Yeah! For me it is only two small things before it’s perfect:
1. The video scaling button should be removable to prevent accidents (we always want it on”scale to fit” and won’t ever use that button).
2. https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/mx-player/bug-feature-request-menu-selection-t3939427

Yeah those are both good suggestions.
I'd like the ability to turn off the up and down function, since I don't even need to change brightness and I change the volume from my remote volume buttons . So having the option to disable that would be great.
Oh yes I agree. I constantly change mx volume by accident. Disabling the up/down action would give me peace of mind.

That's for touch devices only. We are strictly talking about remote navigation. Theirs no setting to disable volume/brightness up and down with remote.
