yes u can use cwm to root phones but cwm reads only zip files. and we dont have zip file for rooting. Only .tar so far. hence odin.
but now since we have mobile odin also, no need of pc to root the phone.
but since u say ur new to this stuff, its best that u do it via pc

I recently bought an I9003 and flashed it with XXKPE then XXKPQ. But when I searched for a solution to root XXKPQ, it returned me root for XXKPM. So I hope someone can help me by posting a guide on rooting XXKPQ and how to install CWM.
I'm pretty sure a good Google search or a search within this site will solve your problems.

Perhaps you must've been searching the wrong terms.

Flash cf root which is universal to all gb release.
Flash this as pda in odin.
send from gt-i9003 using android keyboard
Will this wipe user data? Will it add CWM? And is this version of CF root compatitable with XXKPQ? Is there any bugs or a feature less in this CF root?

Do I just flash the file in odin through PDA, then the phone auto reboots, no need to go recovery and choose update.zip right?

Hi,
Please help me.
I tried to install CWM in my galaxy ace using "Odin".
I followed correct steps and odin showed "pass" at last.
but now my phone is not booting.
It will load upto "GALAXY Ace GT-S5830....." scree and nothing is happening after that.
I am not able to boot into recovery also now.
How I can recover my phone back?
Please help me.
Flash everything back to stock with Odin. You should make sure repartition is checked before flashing. When you try to flash cwm through Odin, redownload the files and try again.

Thanks for replying, but sorry to ask you one more doubt (may be too n00b qn.)
what do you mean by "flash everything"?
where I can get all those files for Ace?
Sorry took soo long to reply, was at work. Can you post a link to the method you used to flash cwm? Just want to make sure I point you to the correct firmware.
I have used the method at
acetips.wordpress.com/2011/10/01/install-cwm-ace-froyo
As it didn't worked, I used some other "ops" file, which brick my phone.
Can I use any samsung upgrade method ( as I have done earlier in my sonyericsson w8 using SEUS) ?
Or how can I fully flash and make it alive?
Try this...!
Hey no phone dies so easily, so, follow the process mentioned in the given link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1034145
You know how to use odin get you ops file and further download the stock rom on
http://www.sammobile.com/firmware/
thanks friends.
But now I am not able to get into the recovery mode. will it get fixed after flashing the latest firmware?
What is the really working method to get CWM recovery for ACE?
It should work again if u flashed the stock because the stock recovery is included in the stock rom =)
please help me.
my phone is still not turning on, even after flashing stock firmware using odin.
How can i get it back?
my ace is now alive
Thank god!!! at last, my phone is alive.
Now dear friends, do u know any guaranteed to work -cwm flashing methods for ace?
Since you have flashed stock, are you able to get into stock recovery?

Before you flash CWM Recovery, you need to ROOT ur phone, download upd_1.zip file from the link that I provided in the previous post and flash it from Stock recovery.

Kies won't work unless you are on stock firmware. You'll need to go back to stock firmware/kernel and then unroot.
Just unrooting won't since the issue. You'd have to refer to the stock firmware as well as kernel as told earlier.
you'd have a custom cf kernel with cwm, goto stock by flashing xxkpe starting from pit.
Press thanks if helped

Go for your region specific firmware. Then unroot. I think there are unroot instructions on cfroot thread.

im in europe can anyone help me which firmware i must have... ?
Install your region csc if you are using multi csc
To check your csc type following code
*#272*[yourIMEI]#
Take backup before typing this code
This will erase all your data

Hi,
I have rooted DDLF2 (using CF-ROOT). Now that I no more need root (stopped using an app that needed root), I need to get back to stock DDLF2.
I have already unrooted it using recovery mode > unroot.zip method.
All I need is 100% samsung stock DDLF2 on the phone now, without the cf-kernel, cf-recovery and apps that the rooting process brought in.
Please advise...
Thanks
Dude thats simple...
Just flash ddlf2 using odin and u are good to go !!

take the CR-ROOT zp file, open up with winrar, replace the file with DDLF2 normalboot.img, than flash with odin PDA. you will get back the stock kernel or maybe you will have boot looping, if not bootlooping, reboot the phone once, than factory reset.
try at your own risk.

Maybe this happened because you didn't clean install so here are the steps:
Download XXKPE from here.
Flash XXKPE by following the XXKPE install instructions (the archive should contain odin3 v1.83 or v1.85 if not here is odin3 v1.85)
Download DDLF2 from here (DDMF1 is the latest value pack so it's smoother and with better battery life)
Install DDFL2 or DDMF1( recommended) by following the value pack instructions (use only odin3 v3.04)
that's it, enjoy your stock rom
if this helped you ...hit the thanks button pls
since i cant access to my odin someone had a flash-able clockworkmod works with stock recovery?? so i can install a custom rom thanks !!
for p3100
You can't flash anything with the samsung recovery. Only updates. Odin is the only way.
do one simple thing! install kies from samsung website. then attach your device with your pc. it will install adb for your device! now your device will be recognised by odin!!! flash as many things u want then! be sure to close kies before flashing with odin

If you are rooted, you can download ROM manager, it will install cwm without the need of a PC, but again that's if you are already rooted.
