I have a galaxy S3 phone (AT&T i747) and I've rooted it. Also I've backed up the factory rom using clockworkmod and get several files in one folder named "1970-04-15.10.19.58", and then I install "rom manager" and tried several different roms. Then I want the factory rom back, but when I went into the clockworkmod recovery mode, I can't find the backup! I tried to back up the phone again to see if they are stored in the same place, but very weirdly, I couldn't find the back-up folder anywhere while I still can see the back up folder when I want to restore in clockworkmod recovery mode. I do remember the version of clockworkmod changes (probably) because of the rom manager (which asks to flash a recovery before install roms), and I wonder if it's the difference in version that cause this problem.
Could anyone tell me why this happens and how I can get the back-uped version in the clockworkmod recovery mode? Thank you very much!
question update
It seems the clockworkmod messes up the folders. Now I get a folder with name 0, and other folders with "legacy" and "obb", does anybody how to fix the folder problem in clockworkmod? Thank you!

Summary
Rooting is easy, installing ROM is easy, as long as you do according to the online articles, but keep everything correct is not!
Flash original factory firmware using Odin is very powerful. (It even works when phone can't boot)
I first use Odin to root my galaxy s3, then backup the rom, and then use rom manager to install different roms, however those roms aren't as good as in introduction. And worsemore, when I want to switch back using restore, the restore function goes wrong.
I then did a lot of stupid things, try the functions on recovery and try to move the backup to "right" places, the result is I totally messed up the phone and it can't boot.
Luckily I still can go to the download mode by pressing "volumn down"+"home"+"power" -> "volumn up". I use Android 4.1.1 AT&T Samsung i747 firmware and Odin v3 3.07 to get everything back to normal. (thank goodness I back up the data before I play this game).
All in all, new version Odin + original factory firmware is powerful! :good:
Hi there, I seem to have messed up my mounting partitions while trying to deodex Stock JB Central Europe. I basically used xultimate to pull the files and deodex then tried using adb shell to mount the system partition and copy them over. After I rebooted the phone, it would get stuck on unlocked bootloader warning or on the motorola logo. I hard reset into recovery and restored a nandroid backup and once booted into android found so many folders under the Storage folder such as "asec", "obb", rfs0" and so on. Now, when I try to wipe dalvik-cache in recovery, i get the following error: "E: unknown volume for path [/sd-ext]". Also, when i try flashing custom rom's and reboot, it gets stuck on the unlocked bootloader warning and wont load - while in recovery after flashing, i also get another error something like this: "E: cant load /cache/recovery.log" or similar. I also sometimes have issues mounting system, cache partitions, data and internal storage, all depending on which custom recovery i am using. I read on another site that downgrading to ics might solve mounting problems so I forced a downgrade to ics but that didnt work either and am still on ics.
Is there a way to restore the partitions correctly or are they stuck this way? Would mounting and remounting solve this problem? Any help would be much appreciated and would very much appreciate it if someone could upload their mount point info so i could use to try and fix it.
Many thanks in advance.
EDIT: Managed to flash Slim Bean 4.3 Official using OUDHS recovery without wiping cache and dalvik-cache at first. After reboot, it would bootloop so went to recovery and wiped cache and dalvik-cache then it worked. Still no sd-ext and some apps can't write or backup to external memory such as Go Backup & Restore Pro so what remains is to mount/unmount the partitions correctly.
I am not new to ROM's I have dabbled here and there with my phones and the xoom. I followed the directions to a t for the Omni 4.4.2. I did the first part for putting bigPart TWRP on my xoom. I have the recovery on there and I can find my SD card with the rom and other files on there needed but it will not load after I install everything. The internal storage still shows at 0. I get the Omni bootloader and then a message from google pops up saying encryption unsuccessful and I need to perform a factory reset. When I try that it just brings me back to recovery. I don't know what I did wrong but the only thing that works is recovery. It's like nothing at all is on the internal storage of the xoom. I have tried to copy the files from my sd card over to internal and install, same thing. When I go back to check the files I copied to internal they are gone. The files I have on the sd card are there but it won't load the files on the internal storage to set up android on there. I can't even go back to an old restore cause I was using cwm recovery and the those restore files aren't recognized. I'm at a loss, any help would be greatly appreciated. I can't even get my computer to see so I can push the files over to it and I am pretty rusty with ADB to try and set that up.
I just tried to push the original twrp 2630 through adb and it flashed, I tried to reboot into recovery and it just staid at the twrp screen. Ughhh I'm getting so frustrated cause I had the xoom working perfectly on JB before I started messing around. Any help would be great, Even getting me back to stock and I can take it from there.

trying to give as much info as I can. I got the original twrp 2630 running, flash twrp big part, followed next step to to wipe everything except sdcard, this is what I got:
Updating partition details...
E:unable to mount '/system'
E:unable to mount '/cache'
E:failed to wipe dalvik
updating partition details...
E:unable to mount '/system'
E:unable to mount '/cache'
So, I wanted to install a custom ROM, but somewhere along the way something went wrong and I got stuck in a bootloop, I've been reading up on some threads and I followed some steps that were supposed to fix it, but I feel like I'm in even more trouble now (Well, my phone is still alive so I still have hope but yeah..)
Anyways, I'm using Philz custom recovery now, I tried to do a wipe to install a new or stock ROM, at first it said the wipe was succesful, so I tried installing the ROM, but during the install I kept getting:
E: Error mounting /data
It did say the installation was succesful, but after I rebooted it kept trying to wipe eventhough I did not ask for this.
Got another mount error and said Wipe Failed.
Now when I try to sideload stock ROM I get errors like:
Formatting Cache
Formatting /sd-exxt
E: Uknown volume for path /sd-ex
(I also don't know why it's doing that since this phone has no SD card) I got the Falcon edition with the internal storage. Also when my computer recognizes my phone and I want to open the phone folder, there is no longer an Internal Storage folder.
Anyways after those errors it says Data Wipe Complete, Wiping System, Now flash new ROM
But nothing flashes properly it seems due to the mounting error. I've looked for solution, but I can only seem to find threads that involve Samsung
and when I find a solution video it has something to do with either taking your battery out of your phone (which you can't do with this phone) or something
with your SD card (which this phone doesn't have).
So yeah, I'm running out of ideas here and any help would be greatly appreciated!
Cheers.

The phone has a virtual SD card.
I had a similar issue. Try flashing TWRP recovery and go to wipe > format data (THIS WILL DELETE ALL DATA) then reboot recovery. Worth a shot if you're not able to use your phone. You can copy over SD card contents to a computer first via TWRP by mounting MTP, or use USB OTG..
I tried upgrading my old phone,a S1 i9000 to cm10 which resulted in a bunch of errors. I than tried to flash back to stock, however i was still getting:
E:failed to mount /sdcard (File exists)
E:copy_dbdata_media:Can't mount /sdcard
your storage not prepared yet. please use UI menu
for format and reboot actions.
Meida files copy failed.
system unable to Format /data...Internal SD card cannot be mounted and such.
I first tried flashing dbdata.rfs, didn't help
Then i tried doing this http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...8#post30415128 (Flash a JVU+Root with a 512 Pit (repartition ticked) ...)
I also tried flashing just pit with rep,and then JVU, ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=817186 )
Then i found this- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=31017954&postcount=5335
And tried to flash a speedmod kernel (fixed JVU kernel) in order to get the "universal lag fix menu" on cwm. However after i flash it i don't have cwm anymore.
I've been working on this for hours...please help.. What do i do?
EDIT: Flahsed very old version stock jp something, got same message on recovery but then booted.. into...cm10 . I just got the boot and then black screen.
Edit:Fixed everything with this lifesaving manual http://androidspin.com/2009/11/06/m...rd-wpartedgoto-ext34-from-adb-no-livecd-reqd/ I got my phone back!
