4EXT recovery more features

All repliers favor EXT4 so so far. What are the key features above CWM?
Can EXT4 be flashed over CWM?

Flash 4EXT recovery through fastboot, or download the free application from the development thread, or from the website.
No problems flashing over Clockwork Recovery.
I'd highly recommend using the 4EXT Recovery solution, its a fantastic recovery option with both classic style recovery, as well as the option for a new and improved touch version.
But basically it is built similar to Clockwork Recovery, just with a lot more functionality beneath the hood, making it a swiss army knife.

4EXT for sure. More functional and more informative.

4EXT, it offers more features than clockworkmod.

i think 4ext it better has more options and its touch recovery that is more easy

That's right. I tried it and it's work charming. It helped me a lot. +1 for 4EXT!

Yhey are both great. Cw has less features and its simplier than ext4. But ext4 has touch alternative

4EXTRecovery and Rom Manager

Hi
I installed 4EXTRecovery and now the Rom Manager.. Rom Manager tells me that I need to install ClockworkMod.. isn't 4EXTRecovery doing the same as ClockworkMod? Can I just choose "Flash ClockworkMod Recovery" or does that destory 4EXTRecovery?
Cheers
Michael
4EXT is based on cwm recovery but it have more function than cwm recovery.if you choose flahs CWM recovery,it will replace 4EXTRecovery
ok.. thats exactly what I understood.. but than I cannot use rom manager?! (if I want to keep ext4recovery?)
That is because Rom Manager is made by the same person/people that made CWM.
They will want you tu use their recovery software for better compatibly.
You can use it, press menu and then manual flash override

I only use rom manager premium and I can use ext4 recovery, maybe this is why? Although rom manager is of the few programs that I'll never mind paying for as it pays for all of our recoverys, ext4 included

I have to disagree with you. I bought it and it is not working for me. I can not see ANY premium ROM, I cannot use update feature, nothing... I'm not the only one with this issue and people, including me, reported it and there is no progress... no one is trying to help us.

4Ext Recovery

Hi, I am trying to install the Revolution HD ROM...it says to install 4EXT recovery. I downloaded the updater and installed the program on the phone. However, when I boot into recovery (volume down/power), it stills boot into clockwork recovery.
Can I flash that ROM from that? or should it show 4EXT recovery? Do I have to uninstall Clockwork or something?
Sounds like you forgot to flash the recovery.

It's smooth as butter, I love the fact that you have more control over what you are backing up, ie not backing up Davik or cache, saves room and time, faster backup and restore than CWM and it has themes. Stability. I've been using it since it's first release, it was the first Touch Recovery.
Oh...sorry for being dumb...but how would you flash the 4EXT recovery? I couldn't really find a clear guide to install it...I just downloaded the apk file as instructed and then install the program from the app....I haven't seen anywhere about flashing the 4EXT.
Appreciate your help!

Easy, just open up the 4ext app that you downloaded and click online install, make sure you have internet and just follow the on screen directions.

Open the app, there should be an option for installing recovery. I am on paid app so I am not certain where it's located in the free version. Should be up at the top I would think.
You can flash without 4Ext but with 4Ext it's better and have more options, like instaling diferent kernels and Sony Bravia engines. You will like 4Ext better once you have it.

An APK of 4EXT free can be downloaded at their website at 4ext.net or you can follow the link in my sig
Flash the ROM, it includes 4Ext Recovery in it.

Recovers

Hey, is it possible to get 4ext recovery while using cwm recovery? And how do I get touch recovery got cwm, they have it for free on their website
www.clockworkmod.com/rommanager
Thanks
Sent from my Desire S using XDA
You can only have one recovery installed, so you need to pick
You just need to flash 4ext over cwm
Easiest was is to download the 4ext recovery control app from the market (worth paying for IMO) which will flash the recovery while your booted
Swyped from my DesireS
+1 to what Ben said.
4Ext knocks the socks of CWM and the control app just makes life so much easier - auto notification of updates and everything. Money well spent in my opinion.

Which recovery to use

Should I use TWRP or clockwork?

I went with twrp, it was the recommended recovery for my rom.
Was a clockwork user and I must say twrp is very nice, and no charge bug.

Another vote for TWRP
TWRP here as well. Maybe when clockwork is official for us I"ll switch back but I like what the twrp guys have done.
TWRP all the way.

i used clockwork before and now twrp. i never had a problem with clockwork.
i actually like clockwork better faster and simple look. twrp seems kinda slower.
TWRP for me.

Yet another vote for TWRP. I like the touch interface and have used the install, backup, and restore with no issues.

[Q] Changing recovery

Hi all
I currently have CWM recovery on my HTC Sensation and want to change to 4EXT
If I flash the 4EXT recovery image to my device, will it overide/delete CWM? If not, what do I need to do (please, no complicated terminology, I'm something of an amateur!)
Many thanks in advance

do only step 2 from this guide
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1631861
and it will overwrite the cwm recovery
It will definitely overwrite cwm but I think it still keeps a cwm folder on your sd card.
Use this tool it is very useful. It will install custom recovery for you.
