I have a Niki100 with WM6.1.
All I am looking to do is update it to WM6.5.
I have been searching this forum for hours and am just getting lost and buried in posts but still can seem to find what I am looking for.
I do not use it as a phone ... I really only need the Storage card, Bluetooth, ActiveSync and the OS to function. I run a small app that I have developed that collects data via Bluetooth then dumps it to a PC later.
Can someone please point me in the right direction.
From what I have learned so far I need an RUU and a ROM. Are there such beasts for the Niki100 to get it to WM6.5 ?
Thanks in advance

Hey guys!
I've got the i-mate Jam... can I install the S100's ROM on it?
What's the difference between these two device's ROM?
There are quite a number of threads discussing this. Basically they are almost the same. It's more on what additional software is in the Extended ROM. I've used both I-mate and Qtek ROMs in many instances but see no big difference. I immediately make the BigStorage ROM and install Extended ROM software that I like.
How can I make the BigStorage ROM? What is this?
Sorry boys, I'm new to PDA I tyry to gain more infos as possible
Thank you
The standard configuration of a Jam/S100/Mini is that a certain amount of storage memory is reserved for carrier/brand configurations and is totally inaccessible to the user. The BigStorage ROM is a hack which gives the user access to this storage for installing software to this memory area keeping the main memory area more free for running programs. It also becomes more flexible since the user can decide which carrier/brand configuration apps to install. There are many threads about this topic, or checkout the topic "Upgrade to 1.13 WWE in 10 easy steps".
As always suggested, please search more on this topic and before you decide to jump into the band wagon, be sure to make a backup of your data and current ROM.
Thank you zerimar, you're very polite to explain me the way.
The point is that here all the users knows a lot about the PDA, how is its internal structure and what kind of tricks we can do to take it @ best.
I'm novice and I'd like to read a very small and concise guide that can explain me the basic things like how much amount of ROM we have instaled and if it is simply flashable (as "storage") or only during flash-upgrade, how it is divided and what tasks any section has, where stores WM and where the other custom software from carriers ("third part").
If it it possible to update olny some parts of the ROM a time.
Thank you for support and answers (could be very short)
Search!
Excuse me, search for what (which search key?)?
May I've to read all the forum?
All Your questions are already answered across this forum
All you have to do is to use the SEARCH option because everything is already answered across this forum. If you dont like to read, imagine if You need to write!... LOL
Seriously: Please how You ask somebody to write if You are not willing to read...
Hi,
For the rom-layout go to the wiki, it contains a complete description. & yes you can update eg. the splash-screen & radio separately.
You must use sd-flash method or shippedlrom method to apply BS.
Howto's are available in other threads, like the one suggested earlier.
Cheers, M

thanks for the link, it looks all very confusing, which 1 do i install?
At the moment i have wm2003 2nd edition ver 4.21.1088 (build 15045.2.6.0)
Thanks
Alan
If it looks confusing, it's probably best that you don't mess with it until it stops looking confusing.
Everything you need to know is there, I suggest you spend more time in understanding what you need to do before you jump in and mess up your device.
thats exactly what i was thinking, thanks, could you tell me what advantages i would get by upgrading?
Thanks
Alan
The ability to run WM5, persistent storage, and access to WM5 only applications.
There are a whole host of reasons why WM5 is better than 2003se, and many older posts that answer that very question.
Take a look on the blueangel forum and go back a year or so. There's many posts tha go into lots of detail about the pros and cons.
Hello my friends,
I picked up my HTC Wizard (T-Mobile MDA) yesterday, and I want to modernize it with the latest software. I've spent all day (since 9AM, it's not about 9PM) reading these forums, and I'm insanely confused, probably due to the fact that I'm reading stuff from different times.
I need my wizard to have the following:
-WM6
-Reliable Wi-Fi (i.e. no wifi bugs in the rom)
-Super Reliable phone, working with Rogers Canada (i.e. REALLY no bugs in the phone functionality)
-Bluetooth with A2DP
-TouchFlo capability
-Mobile Office (2007 would be cool, but I'll settle for 2003)
-Preferably free of all t-mobile junk
-MP3 and video player
-Ability to install other software
I am currently using a t-mobile ROM, version 2.26.10.2 WWE and Windows Mobile 5.1.195 Build 14955.2.3.0. I would like to back up this ROM before starting. I read something about putting in on an SD card, but that was I'll need to keep a mini-SD card just for the backup. In there any way to dump the data into a file that can be stored on the PC (even to the point of dumping it to an SD card and using linux's dd function to create a file on the hard drive)?
My device is SIM unlicked (I'm using a t-mobile device with Canada's Rogers), not sure about a CID unlock.
I ask for links to most recent ROMs that would fit what I'm looking for as well as most recent tutorials. I'm nowhere near the point of trying to create my own ROM, so a kitchen is out of the question. Maybe later.
Help appreciated. Thanks.
This is where you should start:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=310831
Follow that and Dr. P's thread. If you can't follow those guides, don't attempt to install a custom ROM on your phone.
Read it already. It doesn't make suggestions as to which ROM to use though.
There are already tons of "which ROM should I use?" threads, and the consensus from all of them is: read about each ROM and then try the one you like the best.
There are no "more recent" upgrading threads. The link I posted and Dr. P's guide are the best. Those guides are meant to explain how to unlock a phone, not which ROM to use.
Follow those guides, unlock your phone, and then experiment with the different ROMs. Oh, and one other thing: before you even attempt to mess with your phone, spend a few days looking around and reading. Trying to read, absorb, and understand all of the posted wisdom on these boards in 12 hours just isn't possible. I spent 4 to 5 days reading and taking notes before I did anything to my phone.
Alright, I see where you're going with this. I'll take a look around, if anything, I'll post back here. Thanks.

It is a big question, but all your questions are answered in this huge forum already, so you have to go and do some reading and searching for yourself and you will find all your answers, plus more and you will learn a lot. You will see what people said about 6.1 and you will see waht people said about BT just by reading other threads.

When it comes to "what You can do with You device" the limit is the limit of Your imagination. The people at xda-developer is doing magic, but please use the wiki's and the search function like:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/
From this wiki You select the device of Your interest (Kaiser) http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Kaiser
Now You have the world in front of You: Reviews, Discussions, Hacks and tweaks, ROM upgarding etc.

1. the vibrate function can provide you hours of enjoyment, with proper placement (external or internal, your choice)
2. install as many programs as possible, filling up both main memory and storage card, using them once or twice then never use them again. after flashing a new rom, install a new assortment of software you probably don't need.
3. re-encode your favourite pr0n to ppc scaling and impress your friends with today's pocket pr0n.
4. port over wm5 from the wizard (blinding speeds, you won't be sorry)
5. read ALL the stickies in Kaiser upgrading area of forum (this isn't near as fun as the other suggestions, but you'll be able to answer your own questions, and be comfortable in the knowledge that you can hack your phone "without any help")
1 and 3 make a nice combo too!
Yes there is a WM6.1 upgrade, i am using Shaps at the moment and it seems to work fine for me.
WM6.1 doesnt give you a huge amount new, Shaps 6.1 rom for me has been stable and quick, i dont tend to install much on my phones though other than the included stuff. I do a few bits and install TomTom. 6.1 has threaded sms which is nice but has some annoying little issues, like i cant seem to find a way to forward sms messages any more. bit annoying.
Flicking through some of the other forums people seemed to be muttering about not being able to sync there 6.1 phones with ex2003, i use ex2007 though so i cant comment, mine works fine.
Havent noticed any bad sound quality over bluetooth. Be more specific though, do you mean stereo bluetooth or just normal.
I use the htc home plugin looks nice and works well.
Hope i have helped.
Rob
ps. Remember before you rush out and start flashing roms, read the wiki and things. You have to do stuff like hard spl and things first.
If i were you i would do it in this order.
1. hard spl
2. sim unlock (if needed)
3. wm 6.1 rom
4. radio rom

You are one sick and twisted individual and I like it.
Start with the beginning of the internet at www.www.com and read through the entire thing.
I like to turn on wifi, 3g, gps, and bluetooth and use my kaiser to keep my coffee warm.
Hello Guys,
im new to this forum and i like to read some threads here from timt 2 time.
And since i got my own pocket pc, i wondered if anybody could help me with a question.
The Windows Mobile Version of mine is a spanish one. And i would lik to have an english version of it. Is it somehow possible to install a language packet or to get another version of WM?
I hope you guys can help me with this. I know this isnt exactly a pocket-pc-forum, but maybe you know something.
Ill tried to search the web, but i got no result
Please help me, any answer would be very kind
Best regards
Just like Windows desktop OS's, you must reinstall the OS to change the language.
It's not an easy process if you are not familiar with your device. Scroll down to the bottom of the page, there is a forum devoted to your device. You should find a lot of information there.
Hey N1c0_ds,
i thought i have to reinstall or flash a new rom/OS.
I can read as much as possible and i dont fear the work
And because im not very familiar with my pda, i think it will be some work to me....
