The CFW has approximately 50,000 users worldwide. In addition, he developed other CFW's based on Android 2.2 Froyo & Android 2.3 Gingerbread plus the contribution to the development of HoneyComb custom kernel. His latest contribution is the Tsunami CFW, which is based on Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread, for the Herotab C8 & compatibles tablets.

. Support BlueTooth, NTFS, 3G (Huawei E180, E251, E220, E1750, E156G. More testing is required).
. Support Flash Player 11.
. Support Camera
. Support YouTube
. Support popular video formats (mostly depend on user apps)

Review:
Tsunami Website http://www.slatedroid.com/topic/25076-rom-tsunami-gingerbread-v17-120411-herotab-c8/
We tested the firmware on a couple of C8's and a C8M.
After downloading the firmware from the original posting at Slatedroid, we extracted the content of the firmware onto an micro sdcard (which was previously formatted in FAT 32), then inserted it into a TF slot of the tablet and booted up with Menu + Power buttons. The first boot took over a minute. Regular boot up time afterward was exceptional quick, in under a minute.
Our first impression was WOW. App window flied across the screen beautifully and smoothly unlike anything that we have seen on other firmwares.
After wifi setting and google account setup, which was a snap, we connected to market. All our apps were there for downloading. We also tried to search and install a few free apps & games. No problem whatsoever.
We love Plants vs Zombies, Fieldrunners HD and Asphalt 6.0. After restoring the apps & there games' data, the games played effortlessly. Some users reported issue with certain 3D games and requested a lower CPU setting. The Tsunami development team agreed to consider that option in a future release. See our list of tested games below.
We tested google earth and google maps with street view option. No surprise there. Everything displayed smoothly and effortlessly.
We tested Aldiko reader, BBC News, CNN news, Opera web browser, youtube, mail and a few others. Everything worked well.
Video streaming is important to us, so we downloaded UPnPlay and Rockplayer. UPnPlay connected to our HP MediaSmart Server quickly and Rocplayer kicked in to stream. Our collection of videos is mostly in 720P and in mkv, mp4, avi, flv. All streamed well without lagging with our D-Link DGL4500 and Netgear WNDR 3800.
We tested NTFS and BlueTooth. All worked well. We did not test 3G as we have no equipment. Some users reported that 3G function needs more fine tune. The development team mentioned that future release will address that, plus a few other features that users requested.
In summary, we found the Tsunami CFW to be most pleasant and useful to use. Perhaps we could summed up it up in three words, Funtional + Stable + Speedy. We highly recommended this CFW over any others that are currently available.

Dave,

Looks like you had fun play too many games on it..
Please add netflx in the working list. it works very well on tsunami rom.
Thanks for the effort Dave.

works in Coby Kyros MID8024 this rom?

Can this ROM play youtube 720p flash IN THE BROWSER in full screen (NOT youtube app which is not real HD)
I always thought the Samsung PV210 chip in the C8 is similar to the PC110 of the original Galaxy Tab. My GT has no problem playing youtube 720p full screen in the browser, but the stock ROM of the C8 cant even play 480p.

[Q] psx4droid tested yet?

Anyone tested psx4droid yet?
it works ok for me, however wiimote will not work on tnt. it will work on zpad however.
Plays a ton of games at full speed, but the v-pad sucks for most games. Gtablet plays the following games smoothly with sound. Please note that 1.5 and 1.6 are a LOT faster than 1.7 (current version in market).
Sound is fairly rough for a lot of games though: Some are ok.
Sample of more cpu killing games for other Android devices:
Dead or Alive
Bloody Roar 2
Crash Racing
Tekken 3
NFL Blitz 2001
NBA Live 2001
March Madness 2000
NBA Showtime
Tobal 2 (when in game)
Rival Schools
There are others, but Tegra 2 handles these very well. Of course, no current way to play the games decently, since no control options other then the virtual pad.
Games play rather well with the v-pad on the Incredible and Droid X, but smaller design (closer controls & lighter) and actual touch response & multi touch is better on those devices. Catch is those devices plays all the games noted above slow, except Crash Racing.

Nice. You say 1.5 and 1.6 run smoother. Do you have .APK for one of the older versions?

Yes (from older Titanium BU), but it is apparently linked to my gmail account (would not work until I set my account up on Gtablet). It is a paid app, but the irony is the one on the market (1.7) absolutely sucks compared to 1.5 & 1.6.
Not sure why the dev takes backsteps.
You should have no problem finding the apk. In this situation, can not blame you since the current version is a lost cause.
so is 1.6 better than 1.5
ok so i got it but not sure which version, any way to find the version #.
the bios it came with, i also know nothing about. are there better bios than others?
do you know anywhere i can get a good pack of roms already packed
My Titanium backup showed 1.5, but a way to tell if you have 1.7 is they added some graphics options which are not in the older versions. There should only be scaling mode and framerate adjustment in 1.6 and lower. If you see extra settings for graphics in the menu (can not remember what they are), you have the new 1.7 version.
uh oh, 1.7 i guess haha. i'll look for some alternate .apk's
if anyone else has trouble finding apps for free i just google this...
".apk" "index of /" "NAMEOFAPPHERE"
works well for me!! thanks for all the info though!
searching for roms. is there a certain type that work?
i found listed as NTSC. not sure if there are other types but will these play probably ?
The version number is in the top right hand corner in application info (application manager). Mine says "1.5".
Best bet is eboot files, since they are smaller compressed versions of the iso files. I use eboots, since you can fir almost 2X the roms in the same space (on average).
Eboots are PSX games formatted to work on the PSP. They work here too.

Yes, but 1.1 is best for speed, but has some graphics issues (example is special weapon boxes missing in Crash Racing). This is rare though.
1.1 is easy to find by doing a search for 1.1 and psx4droid.
Worth buying though- assuming the dev fixes the 1.7 fiasco. The dev should at least offer 1.5 or 1.6 as a separate market download for paid users.
I was told v1.61 is the best one available.
I mean v1.7 has the most/best features but sufferes from a lag.
v1.1 has the best speed which is equal in v1.6, but v1.6 is slightly faster for those weaker devices (eg Milestone).
v1.6 has some new features not present in v1.1
I'm guessing a v1.8 may be released later on which is simply v1.7 minus the lag
After that (v1.8) I believe it would remain quite stagnant as zodtt wants to focus on his other projects; vlc4droid and n64droid and not to mention his apps for iOS.
Yep, 1.5 & 1.6 are best for combination of speed and all graphics visible. 1.1 is fast, but gets away with it since some graphics are missing Example is Crash Racing. 1.5 seems as fast as 1.1, but has all the graphics.
1.6 begins the step to the dark side of lag (works for a few games well, most not so much). 1.7 is even more niche and a big step backwards for the app.

T-Mobile G2x, stock android?

so i was reading this article
http://newsroom.t-mobile.com/articles/T-Mobile-G2x-with-Google
and it says "Powered by a stock version of the Android™ 2.2 operating system", does that mean there's no bloatware and it's just like the Nexus? if so, there seems to be no greater phone than this one.
The G2 is stock android and it still has some bloatware not a lot but its still there. This will probably be near stock experience just like the G2!!
Seems like a great phone tho!!! But im sticking with my Nexus, there is nothing like a google supported phone!
Edit:
These are all the apps that will be preloaded on the device
* Need for Speed™ SHIFT HD, developed by Electronic Arts (EA), is an award-winning, authentic racing game that combines the true driver's experience with real-world physics, pixel-perfect car models, and a wide range of authentic race tracks.

When listening to music or playing games on the T-Mobile G2x, customers will enjoy rich, enhanced sound that adds depth, dimension and volume levels that are robust without distortion.
* A demo of Near Orbit Vanguard Alliance - N.O.V.A., developed by Gameloft, is a fast-paced sci-fi action game in which players operate as Kal Wardin, an elite soldier established to protect humanity from alien threats.
* T-Mobile TV, offering live and on-demand TV including news, sports and full-length entertainment, plus full episodes of your favorite shows.

Stock Android but I prefer by updates being handled and maintained by Google especially with open sourcing kernels etc.
Although, LG does look really good in the Android game. If they live up to updating their phones in a timely matter. They're definitely going to gain the respect from the Android modding community.

I owned a G2 and it looked like stock android but it totally wasn't. Cyanogen actually commented on this issue when porting CM6 to the device, he said it was not stock android and had lots of htc elements in the build. You will only find stock on the n1 or the ns natively

[Q] Chainfire 3d Not working on galaxy S2

Ive got a rooted Galaxy S2 running android 2.3.3.
I Installed Chainfire 3D pro 2.8 and the three plug-ins. No games are showing up in the store when I hit fix market settings so I tried installing games from the SD card. Riptide just closes at startup, bang bang racing is stuck at the white startup screen.
Wasnt able to find the answer via the search option.
Anyone knows how to fix this?
Luuk
Riptide - Special Shaders are needed, i suggest you search for the official chainfire thread on here (easily searchable through google)
Bang Bang Racing - 1. Its Rubbish (poor controls, you pretty much cover your car with your finger) 2. 99% Guarantee it won't work with this app. Game uses Nvidia Physx so it cannot be mimicked with any app
i had some of the games showing up on the market but not the ones i was searching for, anyway, on my phone it worked out of the box from the custom rom...
Seems a little buggy i think but i did not read the chainfire thread ;-)

Humble Indie Bundle for Android now available!

Just a heads up. For those that don't know, the HIB is usually a collection of DRM-free, multiplatform games sold for a limited period of time with a pay-what-you-want scheme (of which a fraction goes to various charities), and for the latest one they added a new platform: Android! Here's a more descriptive video:
I've already tested all of the apps on my KF (running CM7 and CM9) and they work perfectly, and I can't recommend any of the games enough (my favorite being Anomaly, although the stylish Edge games are pretty close).
So you can pay around $6 and get 4 (or 3 if you pay any less than that) absolutely amazing games for PC, Mac, Linux and Android (you get all of them), along with their soundtracks on drm-free formats. There's no good reason to pass up on this deal.
Here's the list of games:
Anomaly: Warzone Earth
EDGE (And EDGE Extended)
Osmos
World of Goo (beat-the-average bonus)

Enjoy!
As of yesterday, Toki Tori has been added to the Humble Bundle! Works perfectly with my Kindle Fire (Running latest CM9).
