[Q] psx4droid tested yet? - G Tablet General

Anyone tested psx4droid yet?

it works ok for me, however wiimote will not work on tnt. it will work on zpad however.

Plays a ton of games at full speed, but the v-pad sucks for most games. Gtablet plays the following games smoothly with sound. Please note that 1.5 and 1.6 are a LOT faster than 1.7 (current version in market).
Sound is fairly rough for a lot of games though: Some are ok.
Sample of more cpu killing games for other Android devices:
Dead or Alive
Bloody Roar 2
Crash Racing
Tekken 3
NFL Blitz 2001
NBA Live 2001
March Madness 2000
NBA Showtime
Tobal 2 (when in game)
Rival Schools
There are others, but Tegra 2 handles these very well. Of course, no current way to play the games decently, since no control options other then the virtual pad.
Games play rather well with the v-pad on the Incredible and Droid X, but smaller design (closer controls & lighter) and actual touch response & multi touch is better on those devices. Catch is those devices plays all the games noted above slow, except Crash Racing.

Nice. You say 1.5 and 1.6 run smoother. Do you have .APK for one of the older versions?

Yes (from older Titanium BU), but it is apparently linked to my gmail account (would not work until I set my account up on Gtablet). It is a paid app, but the irony is the one on the market (1.7) absolutely sucks compared to 1.5 & 1.6.
Not sure why the dev takes backsteps.
You should have no problem finding the apk. In this situation, can not blame you since the current version is a lost cause.

so is 1.6 better than 1.5

ok so i got it but not sure which version, any way to find the version #.
the bios it came with, i also know nothing about. are there better bios than others?
do you know anywhere i can get a good pack of roms already packed

My Titanium backup showed 1.5, but a way to tell if you have 1.7 is they added some graphics options which are not in the older versions. There should only be scaling mode and framerate adjustment in 1.6 and lower. If you see extra settings for graphics in the menu (can not remember what they are), you have the new 1.7 version.

uh oh, 1.7 i guess haha. i'll look for some alternate .apk's
if anyone else has trouble finding apps for free i just google this...
".apk" "index of /" "NAMEOFAPPHERE"
works well for me!! thanks for all the info though!

searching for roms. is there a certain type that work?
i found listed as NTSC. not sure if there are other types but will these play probably ?

The version number is in the top right hand corner in application info (application manager). Mine says "1.5".
Best bet is eboot files, since they are smaller compressed versions of the iso files. I use eboots, since you can fir almost 2X the roms in the same space (on average).
Eboots are PSX games formatted to work on the PSP. They work here too.

Yes, but 1.1 is best for speed, but has some graphics issues (example is special weapon boxes missing in Crash Racing). This is rare though.
1.1 is easy to find by doing a search for 1.1 and psx4droid.
Worth buying though- assuming the dev fixes the 1.7 fiasco. The dev should at least offer 1.5 or 1.6 as a separate market download for paid users.

I was told v1.61 is the best one available.
I mean v1.7 has the most/best features but sufferes from a lag.
v1.1 has the best speed which is equal in v1.6, but v1.6 is slightly faster for those weaker devices (eg Milestone).
v1.6 has some new features not present in v1.1
I'm guessing a v1.8 may be released later on which is simply v1.7 minus the lag
After that (v1.8) I believe it would remain quite stagnant as zodtt wants to focus on his other projects; vlc4droid and n64droid and not to mention his apps for iOS.

Yep, 1.5 & 1.6 are best for combination of speed and all graphics visible. 1.1 is fast, but gets away with it since some graphics are missing Example is Crash Racing. 1.5 seems as fast as 1.1, but has all the graphics.
1.6 begins the step to the dark side of lag (works for a few games well, most not so much). 1.7 is even more niche and a big step backwards for the app.

3d Games on jbed

Hello all,
I was playing asphalt 4 on a 201 mhz processor device, it was extremely smooth but not was the same case with graphics they werent smooth. So i thought since java games can be played on wm with full smoothness i got a asphalt4 java version (jar) and installed but as soon as the game is about to begin it closes. So this may be because of no 3d support by jbed but then installed a 3d supported version of jbed it also closed.
So anyone can tell me which is the best and working midilet manager to play that game.?

Don't expect much of current WinMo midlet managers when it comes to 3D. Should you really want to play 3D Java games, get a second-hand Nokia N95. Or, forget the entire thing and get, say, a second-generation, used iPod Touch - the 8GB version can be had for around $150. It runs (native) 3D games very-very fast - much faster than, say, the iPhone 3G (or, for that matter, any Java game on even the Nokia N95).
Too bad there's no native WM version of that game, it's a great title.

There are some native Asphalt titles for WinMo, but they don't use 3d acceleration hardware at alll and are, visually, way inferior to the iDevice versions.
(Nevertheless, they're still better than the much less detailed Java versions.)
@all thanks but its true there is a native game asphalt 4 but on a slow processor devices it has some graphics glitches still enjoyable, so i though how about running a java version of that game, i tried when i click start it just closes the game thats why asked.
@Menneisyss: Lol why would i buy those crap phones for just game, i always dont play games only sometimes, i know it is possible there is java midilet manager supports 3d games, but i dont know why this particular game not running or may be i have downloaded the java version which is corrupt, just wanted to knw if anyone played the java version on wm.

games and fullscreen issue

I know my Vegan rom has issues playing some games like live holdem where the game only uses some of the gtabs screen. Do any of the newer roms still have this issue?
I think this is more of a game issue than a ROM issue, as there are a lot of games out there that are not programmed to scale to the appropriate screen size.

I agree but I swear, I'm not sure which early TnT lite version it was...all my games scaled to the appropriate size. It must have been earlier than tnt 2.3 but live holdem, plants vs zombies, etc all played full screen with no problem.

Definetly the way games are written.
Wait...what....plants vs zombies?
I've used TNT Lite, Vegan 5.1, and Cyanogen 7 beta's and the only time I've had problems with games not scaling right was when I was playing around with LCD Density. If I had that set to a weird number (anything besides 120 or 160) some games would only use 2/3 or 3/4 of the screen space.
You can try turning off compatibility mode in the Spare Parts app.

FAQ
Questions: I can't set up my controls in the game settings, even though I have a qwerty keyboard? How do I fix this?
Answer: Try enabling caps lock. Also try disabling caps lock. If you can't toggle within the game, try it on a text box and then switch back to the game.
Questions: Why doesn't flash work on my phone?
Answer: You need to install Flash Player 10.1 or higher
Questions: Flash is installed, why isn't any games working?
Answer: You need to enable the plug-in via your browser settings.
Tips on playing your flash game while offline
An SWF File is a flash file. You can save the SWF file of your flash game to play on your phone while disconnected from the internet. I think it's annoying to download the flash game every time I want to play it. So I would download the SWF, and copy it into my smartphone.
How to save SWF files:
1) Make sure you have a Mozilla FireFox browser
2) Using FireFox, open the link that brings you to your favorite flash game
3) Go to Tools > Page Info > Media
4) Look at the address collumn, and search for the address that ends with .swf
5) If you suspect that the .swf is the game file, click on "save as"
6) Move the SWF file into your smartphone's memory card
How to play SWF files offline:
1) Go to the market
2) Download SWF Player (Available) or SWF Viewer (No Longer Available)
3) Install it, and use it to find the local SWF file
4) Enjoy your flash game, video, program
I have not tested if you can customize controls using these apps.

Thank you for this amazing post, I've been trying to get Robot Unicorn Attack to work smoothly for a while now but it's still not smooth enough to play on my Epic 4G.
Does it play very well on your G2 phone? I'm wondering if the weaker FPU performance of the Samsung Hummingbird is affecting its flash performance compared to the Snapdragon's on HTC phones.

Have you installed the recently available Flash 10.2 (I don't have a link on hand, but it is in one of the Epic sections.) After installing 10.2 and starting flash games, long press on the game and a full screen button will appear at the top left of the flash window. After making the flash full screen, performance / responsiveness is very good.

I did not overclock my phone. My G2 is not rooted and running stock T-Mobile Froyo ROM. It is clocked at 800 MHz. It runs about 2/3 TO 3/4 as smooth as a PC would run unicorn attack. It's still playable, but could be better.
Yes, there is some lag. My 1.2 Gigahertz over-clocking is just speculation.

Thanks, I'm going to try this very soon. (Although I can load flash in full screen...I haven't checked if I have 10.2 already installed or not...)
Thank you for the suggestion to update flash. I switched to 10.2 and saw a noticeable performance boost in that the game is actually a lot more playable now. Unfortunately a lot more playable != playable....the game starts to lag a lot more after you hit over 1000 points and the flash app breaks.
The sad part is I've noticed the performance drain that RUA takes on Windows machines. My laptop Core 2 Duo P8400 @ 2.26 GHz was running it noticeably slower than my Desktop i7 920 @ 2.66 GHz (and a slight boost @ 3.2 GHz). A Phenom 9600 BE @ 2.2 GHz was pretty bad as well.
The things I do to play RUA are astounding. <3 my Unicorns. I need to overclock my Epic...

[Solved] FPSe - Graphics very pixelated

The emulator work great but the graphic not good as it should be
I changed all the setting to the highest but steel no change
I tried psx4droid but its cruse when i load rom
The solution:
Update to the last Fpse version, then download this plugin:
http://perso.numericable.fr/schtruck/libopenglplugin.so
To load opengl plugin, just run FPse into softmode, then go to MISC menu and into the bottom choose Load OpenGL plugin,
Quit Fpse and restart to Apply change.

Its PlayStation one. Its pixelated. Some PC emulators add a blurring effect but the game should be the same.
LTE EX Galaxy Nexus CM9
Asus Transformer Revolver
Try update fpse. Version 0.11.1 support opengl plugin and graphic is much better.

Thank you!!
i updated and now the graphic are perfect , just like on the computer
Thanks again!
what did you change besides updating from the market? I updated to the 1/9/12 (Version 11.9) and its still pixelated.
has anyone else notice a slight lag in most games?
I have a lower powered single core device (xperia play) and it runs 100% perfect on everything I throw at it, no lag, zero frameskip just absolutely perfect.
playing the same games on my dual core tegra2 device and it's laggy as hell sometimes. (final fantasy games)
I notice that if I remove the "frame limiter" it flys... like 100fps almost unplayably fast... tried several different custom roms + stock... nothing helps
Anyone have a fix for this? Can someone post their settings for system & video etc if they have theirs running good? is there a magic plug-in I'm missing or something?
I know this device is capable of running this 100% 60+fps zero frame skip... it's either a setting I'm missing or a bug somewhere.

i've experienced the slowdowns from when I got my transformer shortly after it came out... From what I'm reading what I'm seeing is normal for the transformer. I was running the version before this and also running the newest verison in the market, small change but the issue is still there.
people seem pleased to see 50-60 fps on games like FF7, I guess I'm a little too picky... especially when I know it can do better... and I've *seen* it do better.
That video plug-in gives that buttery smoothness I am expecting to see but is very glitchy in the games I tried. Graphical errors and anomolies everywhere. Looks nice though when it's not messing up.
I might hit up the author of the program to see if he can look at it.
remove the frame limiter on fpse and load up FF7 and print framecount and play a bit, very smooth but way too fast i'm seeing 100-120fps, put the frame limit back on and it drops to "60fps" but stutters and lags like it's dropping below 30fps. specifically in fights etc and parts with high polygon count.
I'm sure it's a glitch somewhere.
I use both an Xperia Play and a Motorolla Razr, and when playing any of the three games I'm going for (Grandia, Xenogears, Suikoden II) the sides are corrupted with part of the onscreen art, but more importantly many of the video screens are completely whited out. Not necessarily FMV, but nonplayable story elements.
Anyway, if anyone has any ideas, I'd really like to try the openGL routine.
also having issues with FF7. tried a bunch of different settings but cant get it to my liking. Its perfect when your running around the 1st reactor but when you get in a random fight everything slows. The music, frame rate; everything. OR its faster than normal on the map then when getting in a random fight its STUPID fast. so fast that the white hand cursor that selects things is solid ( should be blinking) lol. I kinda gave up on it, too annoying to play either way.
I played xenogears for several hours. it's playable. the graphics are smooth. some cut scenes are laggy, but overall is fine. hope they fix it for ff7 battle menu.
Does anyone know what version of opengl the plugin for fpse is??
I heard someone say its 1.1 or something but for most phones running emulators wouldnt they have opengl es 2.0 natively like our tf's ?? Would make sense to have the most used and native version as the plugin wouldnt it?
I dont know all i know is its pretty as hell!! but crap fps atm Hope an update to the emu or plugin will help
Sent from my tf running krakd warped an twisted 1544mhz Blades kernel
I have version 0.11.14 and lastest opengl plugin. But when I use opengl plugin after quit and open FPSE again it crash. I wondering how to run FPSE in "softmode"?
I use FPSE in my Samsung Galaxy S2 run in ICS 4.0.3 leak XXLPH.
OpenGL plugin is amazing graphic improvement but I have no more fps, now I have fpm (frames per minut)
New version is out: FPse 0.11.40
here are the changes:
- Fixed sound! really perfect now! especially if you set SPUSYNC from audio menu
- Added OpenGL-ES 2.0 blitter mode as default software. Very fast and smooth, and bilinear filtered!
if you want old software mode, just go to MISC menu and select Old Software drawing then restart FPse.
- Updated openGL plugin with fixes and support for Rockchip GPU.
- Fixed Start menu of GT1 in soft mode

Legend Of Legaia
Hi..
i dunno if this thread is still alive or active, but, i just want to know what is the best settings for FPSE to obtain he best graphics without suffering lagginess. i am playing Legend Of Legaia on my stock Nexus 7 2012 and when i use the OpenGL plugin, yes, there is a graphics improvement. Vahn's hair is not soo messed up and pixellated..but when i get into fight scenes the game stutters and lags esp when using arts (attacks) with my characters and kinda framerate drops..but when i don't use openGL, framerate is alright but graphics are cappy..legend of legaia does still look cool on PS1..but i never imagined it still has a low quality graphics when used in emulators. haha

[GAME] Trainz simulator for android! Working on adreno200!

n3wgames released a port for android which works very well!
This game is availaible on android market for a very fair price, though originally intended for tablets running honeycomb with tegra chip.
I have bought this game for my tablet and works wonderfully. I have thought of trying this on older hardware to see how this game demanding is.
AND IT WORKS!
I am successfully running this game on typhoon ROM HD2 with chainfire 3D(NVIDIA plugin) There are few problems, but it's nothing hard to fix. Current issue is with S3TC texture compression and rather slow emulation of NVIDIA Tegra part. Looking a way to overcome this.
I'm trying to fine tune graphic settings to:
-get most of detail on my tablet
-reduce quality on HD2 to improve gameplay experience
For example you can tweak some options under
/sdcard/android/data/com.n3vgames.android/trainz/files/userdata/settings
#globalmodule.txt
for example draw-distance can be set higher to increase viewing distance with cost of few FPS, also good/bad-weather-fog can have dramatic impact on game speed. In game options are quite lacking and doesn't have all tweaks needed.
I'm still looking for some settings to add in this file.
Thanks for adreno 200 support
Trainz is adreno200 compatible BUT you must use NVIDIA plugin or you'll get white textures. I'm looking atm for a way to disable S3TC texture compression, it's major performance hogger.

Link!!
So on a dhd it will work OK then if it works on a hd2
