[Q] Looking for Vodafone Australia stock rom! - HTC Sensation

Hello,
Wondering if anyone has got an Australian Vodafone stock rom (RUU) for my Sensation in case something goes wrong, and I need to un-root, un-flash etc.
I didn't backup my rom, when i initially flashed a custom rom -.-
Thanks in advance!
AND yes, I have used the search function and Googled.

Me too! Keen to root and explore the goodies available but would like the stock rom just in case....
Any suggestions for an alternative rom which I might subsitutue (perhaps UK Vodafone?) would be appreciated. BTW my phone: Build 1.45.862.3 CL157335 Radio 10.56.9035.00U_10.14.9035.01

OMG EPIC SAUCE! Please could you make a backup of your current ROM! Your my only hope of getting a stock rom, you'll need to follow the guide in this link until it tells you to make a backup of your current ROM using CWM (ClockWorkMod)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1192300
This is your mission, if you choose to accept it. Backing up is crucial, you might end up in the same boat as me!
If you have ANY questions ask me or Google it, do not continue unless you know exactly what your doing.
It may seem a bit daunting but just follow the steps, word for word, and you'll get there easily. Thank you!
Don't let me down

Jitkstah, the ease of backing up my current rom is not my concern, its being able to put things back the way they are if I have a warranty issue. Backing up my current rom after s-off and installing a custom recovery looks like a walk in the park compared to the process I went through rooting my last phone - a Legend...
AFAIK I'm not able to get back to s-on without the stock RUU for Vodafone Australia (or a rom which is similar). So I'll keep looking and asking for a bit longer... I may just bite the bullet and root, in which case I'll be happy to share my backed up stock rom but I don't think this will help you if you are trying to get back to s-on.
Cheers

Hmm, I didn't realize we needed the actual RUU to get back to S-ON. Thanks for pointing that out! Although I have been approached by one person, who shall not be named, who has offered me an official Vodafone RUU in exchange for the IMEI number the phone shipped with and a price of 11 Euros, I had to turn it down as I am not able to pay through PayPal. Perhaps you are able to do this? And hopefully be generous one day, to maybe, hand it on to me?
IF you are interested contact me via PM and i'll get you in contact with the "dealer".

You don't need the RUU at all. Once you've restored your backup you just run the command for S-ON via fastboot.
The reason an RUU is helpful is it flashes the complete ROM to the phone so the bootloader and recovery are also replaced with stock versions. Without an RUU you have to do it all manually and then S-ON again

Beautiful, thanks Eddy! So I just have to find the stock boot loader and recovery. Any ideas where? And EpicSauce are you able to backup your ROM or do you still want to continue finding an RUU, which is impossible

Thanks EddyOS, I didn't realise you could S-ON after restoring a nandroid backup... but that makes sense. As you say, after restoring the stock ROM you would be left with a different bootloader and custom recovery. How difficult (and risky) is it to restore the stock bootloader and recovery manually?
If I needed to return the phone for warranty I would want to remove all evidence the phone had been rooted. Jikstah - if I go this route I'm happy to share my backed up ROM.

[Q] T-Mobile UK - Sensation Rom Dump?

Hi folks,
I've got a T-Mobile branded Sensation, no idea how long they will take to get the 2.3.4 update out, probably months.
I want to S-OFF, Super CID etc and flash something else or just use a Euro RUU.
Problem is, for warranty purposes, I need to back up my current rom or obtain the T-Mobile RUU.
Is there anyway I can dump this rom first?
I've checked the big list of roms for the Sensation, lots of US ones there but nothing for T-Mobile Uk.
Thanks
Backup stock ROM:
1. S-OFF
2. Install CWM
3. Backup with CWM
Job Done!
Restore stock ROM:
1. Restore backup
2. Flash stock recovery
3. Flash stock HBOOT
4. Run S-ON command via adb
Obviously the ROM you restore will have all your personal data so a hard reset after making sure it boots up would be wise to go back to a 100% 'out the box' state
i,m uploading the official TMO uk 1.34 RUU now link to follow

link in my first post, dont forget thank
Thanks dude.
If this is the real deal, legit one, then we're onto a winner.
I got a "communications were interrupted" error when using Revolutionary.
Rebooted with vol down, it's showing me as SHIP S-OFF
Ok to assume that it's all ok anyway?
I had this too, run it 3 times and eventually it will say it's done. I did report this on their feedback on the website as well
When I boot up with vol down, it is showing Revolutionary at the top and S-OFF.
Copied the PG58IMG 4.0.1.4 updated over, went into HBoot and it flashed.
Reboot, deleted the PG58IMG off the SD card.
Reboot, back into the bootloader screen and it's allowed me to run clockwork, so now done a full back up which has just finished.
All I want to do next is install the stock European 2.3.4 rom (RUU_Pyramid_HTC_Europe_1.45.401.2), so I assume the next step is to change CID?
Thing is, I want to be able to use future OTA updates with this rom. Am I right in saying that whatever ID I set it to is what updates I will get?
Cheers
Yeah, change CID to HTC__001 and then you're completely unbranded. OTA's should also go through without issue too
Awesome. Job done. CiD change, installed the european rom and i'm now 2.3.4
Bootloader is showing ***locked*** but I aint worried about that.
That's the new HBOOT, you can still use Revolutionary to S-OFF it again if need be (I personally re-flashed the 1.17.0011 HBOOT back as I didn't like the LOCKED message)

I don't understand why it still says S-OFF at the top. lol
Because it does, but it's not technically S-OFF - I tried to flash a different HBOOT and it didn't work until I re-ran Revo

[Q] Need to unroot and s-on

Need to do a warranty exchange for my phone - it's rooted and s-off'ed. Can anyone point me to a thread that I missed in my search that would direct me how to do this? Thanks!
Also, is it possible to do a nandroid backup from one phone and restore it to the new one?
1) S-off is permanent, but you should have no problem returning the phone. Just look for the unrooting guide in development.
2) No, you can't restore from another phone's Nandroid. Just use Titanium to restore your apps.

It's not hard. Here is a thread that gives a step-by-step:
How to: S-ON from S-OFF
Basically, you take your phone, relock the bootloader, flash the stock image that matches your bootloader, and you are back to factory state. S-ON, unrooted.

I am not sure either statement is correct. The guide by Blue6IX above shows how to go from S-OFF to S-ON. I have done it with two warranty replacement phones. The first I got S-OFF via Revolutionary and the second I got S-OFF via Juounotbear. I was able to S-ON both of them by flashing the correct PG59IMG in the bootloader.
On both of my replacement phones, I simply used the nandroid backup from the original phone. Since I was going back to the same bootloader and kernel, it worked fine.
Yep, I've restored my original nandroid from my first doubleshot to all of the ones I've had.
The big issue there is making sure the clockworkmod version you use matches the nandroid you are restoring from.
A cwm 4.0.0.9 nandroid won't work on the cwm 5.0.2.7 and so on. But a cwm 4.0.0.9 backup will work for any doubleshot with that version cwm on it.
S-ON was a leap of faith and prayer to figure out, considering we didn't (and still don't) have an RUU, but we win and it works anyway. Just follow the instructions and don't skip any steps, you'll be fine.

Glad it worked for you. I did the same thing for my warranty replacement number one (vibrate stopped working) and number two (camera never worked on the replacement phone, even when straight out of the box).
My understanding is that since the warranty is direct to and from HTC, no one really cares if the phone is rooted or s-off, but why risk it? Plus, I find it very fun and interesting to perform hacks on the phone.
ehh
Had to return do a warranty exchange not long, my new device came and i shipped my defective device rooted with an ICS rom and s off. I only payed 5 bucks for the shipping. they never said anything about how jacked my phone was. So i would worry much about having s off

[Q] Reinstalling stock ICS

I Dev_unlocked my sensation and installed the 1010 nightly of CM10 using 4ext. Worked swimmingly (with the exception of BT volume). Did the the OTA for the 1024 nightly. Killed my camera. I have wiped, formatted, flashed other JBs and ICSs, even the 1010 CM10, flashed 4.2 camera. I give up on trying to get the camera working. So I want to install the stock ICS that was on my phone. No, I did not do a Nandroid backup. (Lesson learned)
I know some of you are laughing about the Nandroid, I understand. But I think I have something almost as good, another Sensation! Is there an easy way to flash it over, or do I need to unlock (which I would hope to avoid doing), do a Nandroid from that , and then flash that in? In the end, all I want to do is put the phone the way it was for warranty repair.
Thank you in advance for any and all help.
Also, since I am on Cincinnati Bell, is a CID or RUU needed?
You could try Android revolution HD. That's the nearest to a stock rom. Or if you really want to go back to complete stock, then you need to relock your bootloader, then flash the appropriate ruu. For that, see HERE

Yes I have. It's got a different skin because of it being with Cincinnati Bell Wireless, well, at least it has a Cincinnati Bell logo during the boot. The CID is HTC__017, which isn't on any list I have seen. That is also why I was asking about a RUU from my wife's phone if it was needed.

Glacier Troubles

Hello, I'm a bit new here so pardon me if this is in the wrong place.
About three weeks ago I've acquired a Glacier to replace an old Sidekick 4G. I've been trying to install custom ROMs for a while now, but they've all ended in failure. I've gone through several upon several post from various sites, most of them here in XDA. Ive done everything I've seen to get this phone a custom ROM. I've made a goldcard to downgrade which failed, I've installed CWM version 5.something, I've got permaroot on my device and I've unlocked the bootloader through HTCdevs' site. I cannot get a custom ROM to install without the package being signed, and even if I install a signed ROM, my device bricks and refuses to load past initial bootscreen. I've even left my device on entire night after flashing a signed ROM to see if it would load past the bootscreen, but it won't. I'm also still a bit new to the custom tom community as a whole, as the o ly device I've had experience customizing and flashing was the SK4G.
Can anyone here please help me? I've gone through almost every single thread on XDA regarding this phone and achieving S=Off, but nothing has worked. I honestly don't even know how I managed permaroot on here since it seems to.be difficult to do from what I've read.

I think if you unlocked your bootloader (s-off) with HTC dev you have to flash the boot.img separately. The boot.img
Is the kernel. Don't worry bro I'm a noob too can I still remember how frustrated I was while rooting. Expecially cause I have the bad emmc and I have the Canadian version of the mytouch which you have to root a different way
What rom do you want? If you open the open there will be the boot.img and extract it and flash it separately

HI There,
I too had a few hiccups when trying to load custom Roms. I also tried to use the Unlocker through HTC, and it didn't work. It says it unlocks the BOOTLOADER, but I still had S-ON. The only way I could permanently root the Glacier with S-OFF was to downgrade to 2.2 then root.
When you go into Bootloader, does it show you have S-OFF?

I was looking at this rom, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1383629 , it was the first I've tried. My bootloader is still S=On, but the bootloader itself is unlocked. I dunno if that makes any sense, I'm just reading what I see on my bootloader screen.
Anyway, after flashing the boot.img for the rom I wanted, my phone fully booted up and is now working. Thank you very much for you help.

I don't believe so. You would still need S-OFF to flash that custom ROM anyhow.
This was the only video I found that was helpful. A lot of people complain about visionary bricking devices so I guess that's the inherent risk here, but I am still going strong. You must be on 2.2 to use the /gfree method as described in the video. Also, you will have to scour the web for the visionary APK and gfree files. I can't remember where I got them.
Downgrade using the first link, then root using the second. Do a factory reset and follow the steps to downgrade on unlockr EXACTLY and you will be fine. I know it's two different guides, but I had to piece these steps together pulling bits from each to get it to work. Be careful though, as always you take responsibility if you damage your phone using any method to root.
If you run into a misc_version permission denied error during this step, it's because you pushed the whole MISC folder and need to use:
/data/local/tmp/misc_version/misc_version -s 1.00.000.0
http://theunlockr.com/2011/10/25/ho...ire-z-desire-hd-and-mytouch-4g-back-to-froyo/
http://forum.cyanogenmod.org/topic/32293-mytouch-4g-rooting-234-ota-roam/
After that, read the GUIDE TO PERMANENT ROOT S-OFF here on XDA and piece together what you are missing.
That's the best I can do without being there with you. I am sorry.

My bootloader still says S=On, but I just got finished flashing CM7 onto my device. So I think I'm pretty much done with this thread. Thank you for all of your help.
My only other concern would be if it's possible for me to restore the /data portion of my stock rom NANDroid backup to get all of my app data back. Would that work, or would the device brick because they're two diffrent OS's?
Thats HTC Dev for you. You gotta flash the kernel after the ROM. If you have S-ON, but flashed a rom and got it to work, then you basically have S-Off, otherwise you couldn't have flashed a rom. Good luck in flashing other roms in the future bro.

Use titanium backup to extract the app data from the backup you made. Don't restore the data partition.
By the way, S-Off is far superior to HTC Dev unlock. You'll figure that out sooner or later.

NFC Icon Flashing In Status Bar - But No Option Anymore

Ok guys, so I messed up and flashed the Viper Rom onto my phone. I am Boost mobile (K2_CL) and didn't realize it wasn't supported, luckily I had backed up through TWRP so I went to restore that backup and now I have an issue with the NFC. The NFC icon in the status bar quickly, like miliseconds quickly, flashes ever half second. I don;t have the NFC settings in my menu anymore either like previously. I even backed up my wifes One SV and restored hers on mine, which has never been tampered with until today, and even with her restore it is doing it on my phone. Any ideas on hos to make it stop and get the function back again?
There are different partition layouts between european and boost roms. So it seems, it has some firmware parts overwritten. In this case you can't solve that with a backup or flashing another rom.
I would try to run the available RUU for your phone, maybe it can restore things.

I tried an old RUU and it wouldn't take, I want to go back as far as I can and update my phone back to current if possible, even if I have to go back to an older Hboot, just so I know everything is A-OK
I guess you need to downgrade hboot first. And therefor you need S-Off.
