[Q] Decision on New Phone...Help Please - General Questions and Answers

So I'm in the market for a new phone on the Sprint network. After looking at all the phones I have narrowed it down to the Motorola Photon, HTC EVO 3D, and the Samsung Galaxy S II Epic 4G Touch. My biggest problem is that I want to root and install a custom rom on the phone I get. I need/want USB tethering and wifi hotspot for free as I currently have on my Hero. Is there any specific recommendations for either of these phones?

galaxy s 2

I would recommend EVO 3D, long battery life, and best GPU among those you mentioned (Adreno 220).

buy the SGS II,

sg2/epic touch easy development is getting better daily honestly

Galaxy S 2. love Samsung!

SGS2 hands down. Specially since ICS is about to hit it hard.

Samsung is preparing to launch Galaxy SII Skyrocket, will you buy?

Samsung is releasing a new Galaxy SII Skurocket.
All of your android device will be an OLD MODEL smartphone and probably will get an update in a year if you are lucky, you guys need to update.
Anyone buying the Skyrocket!
Well considering the only difference is the addition of the AT&T 4G network which is only available in like 6 cities, I'm going to say not many will buy it. You really should do your research before attempting to start a troll post. Exact same specs...new LTE radio. Get with the program.

What carrier do you have? if you have verizon, I would wait for the Galaxy Nexus, thats what I am waiting for, it should be out any moment. Totally awesome phone, contracted directly by GOOGLE so no bloatware. Comes with Android 4.0

[Q] Which phone AT&T Galaxy SII or the Captivate Glide?

I always customize my phone by custom roms and etc... Free Wifi tether is important too. So a keyboard would be really nice but not sure if I would need it and is it really that important to benchmark a phone? I think Glide but I have had the SII and really liked it but I think glide would be better for keyboard and they both will get ICS so....???
I say the glide. The keyboard looks really impressive.

Really depends on your needs. If you do a lot of typing, you want the glide, no question. But if you want dev support and more power SGS II is the way to go.

Desire HD or Amaze?

For those of you who have either of these phones, which one is better for day to day use?
Defy coming to end to contract in a bit, wondering where to go from here.

Amaze is far more powerful spec wise, but the desire hd has a ridiculous Dev community
So i would say amaze if not thinking of rooting but hd if your thinking of rooting and don't wanna wait for the amaze's community to pick up
I had the Evo which is in the same family as the Desire HD (the Desire HD is slightly faster). Both phones have/had an AMAZING development community, although now it is considered a mid-range phone.
The Amaze is much more powerful, but like the guy above me said, it's newer and so it doesn't have as large of a community. Plus, and I may be wrong, being one of HTC's newer phones, you don't get full root (S-OFF) to flash ROMs and kernels.
I'd go with the Desire HD unless you're gonna be playing heavy games all the time. Modding > Specs for me (for the most part).
I've heard good stories from friends about the Desire HD. It shouldn't be too expensive now either.
desire
i would deffently take the desire HD

GT9100 vs GT9300

Hi,just wanna ask is it worth trading my gs2 to gs3?tq
Sent from my GT-P5100 using xda premium
i think its not worth buy s3, i have s1, s2, and s3 and must say s3 is not much faster than s2.
GS3 has a better screen and faster CPU/GPU, but it's not MUCH better. Only the screen is much better. Also, the GS2 has a MUCH better camera than the GS3 (I've had the GS2, I have the GS3 now).
Owh.so ill just stay with the s2 for now.any other models that on par with s2 to buy?
Sent from my GT-P5100 using xda premium
Honestly, the only other phone I would look at is the One X (only the Tegra 3 international version). It looks and feels really nice and isn't too expensive anymore since the S3 came out.
yeh the one x is an awesome phone, i own it myself, better screen than the screen on gs2 and gs3,

the sgs3 is much faster than the sgs2, in my opinion
Sg3 is faster because of software optimisation. For now I prefer to go to a gs2. This worth for money u spent.
one x n gs3 is great. On my view its not value for that much money.
