Mine takes a bit of time also. With over a 100 apps, regardless of Prime or Revolver it takes a good amount until I see the lockscreen, but its because I have zipaligned on boot enabled.

oh god, I have over 100 apps installed and my boot time is 3:04, and some of you are getting 15 SECONDS??? welp, time to make my backup, wipe the divice clean, and see how much faster i can get my boot time. I don't usually restart my transformer, so this extremely long boot time was a real surprise to me. Thanks for reminding me to reboot more often!
Mine takes about three millennia, give or take a century or two. That's with the latest Prime ROM. How the crap do you guys get such short boot times?
well, after a wipe of all of my data and then restore of about 30 apps from titanium backup (I'm using good 'ol revolver 1.9.5 and prime OC at default voltage) i got a cool 43 seconds from asus screen to lockscreen.
OK, I just rebooted my device for the first time in weeks with logcat running. Aside from all the retarded "adb server is out of date" errors I got, I also noticed that PackageManager is unpacking native libraries all the time. Something I've not seen in ages, and the only results I get for its output lead me to the CM bugtracker and forum.
It looks like it's something common to all Android devices (I think my Sensation does it if 'quick boot' isn't enabled), but it seems to have been solved on the CM end of things.
I guess we have to either wait for CM or ICS to see faster boot times from our tabs
Mine probably takes 45 seconds to a minute.
Question though... Why does it matter? You guys rebooting your tfs multiple times a day? I reboot mine about once a week or so, honestly could care less about whether it takes 30 second or 5 minutes to boot.
No offense
Carry on

Yes and also some of us get random reboots.. and if u were doing something or show off your tablet.. No one wants to wait for it to reboot back up in 1+ minutes..
I thin the reason for longed boot time might be attributed to the number of apps installed along side having zipaligned enabled.
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using Tapatalk
5 or 6 Minutes... If installing an update from the recovery It takes 10 to 13 Minutes !!!
I have over 200+ apps !!
Using the Latest Revolver ROM...
Also there are some features in the Revolver parts app... If I enabled them the booting time doubles !! (Battery Calibration - Defragmentation - Zipalign)
So Insane !!!
Mine takes about 50 seconds. with about 90 apps installed.
I'm using Android Revolution HD 2.2.1, clocked op 1514 Mhz.
I'm on stock, using ADW EX with about 70 apps. Takes about 4 and a half minutes to boot up.
let me also add that I have 153 apps installed according to TiBackup.
Take note also that if you are basing your boot time on a freshly installed ROM, it could be considerably longer. On average for me its been as long as 10 minutes, but for the most part its been taking about 7 minutes total on updates/installs.
If you change something that requires reboot, like the bootanimation.zip, it can also take longer due to the OS needing to read the changed file. I am running the PRIME ROM, but I swapped out the bootanimation for the one in revolver. I really dig it better than the whole "PC boot up" thing.
Thinning out your system apps will also decrease boot time (I have found). For some reason, if I had alot of /system/app apk's it seemed to lag on startup. Most of the files I have are in the /data/app directory. Also, certain apps are programmed to run on startup, which can dramatically affect your boot time.

what LAG are you speaking of.....scrolling?, Loading?, be more specific so others can say if they had/have that problem.
personally i have not seen ANY lag on this phone until i installed Go Launcher<<<

This has bugged me forever, and I've never seen anyone else talk about it, and it's a difficult/impossible thing to search for. If you turn your screen off while docked, then close the netbook, does your screen turn on? Mine does. my screen timeout is set to 5 minutes (since I use it like a laptop) so this is annoying as it drains an extra 5 minutes of battery. Anyone figured out a fix for this?

It definitely is annoying, I agree. One thing that I've been doing is making sure the screen is on before I close the lid. At this point it has become second nature for me to do that when I stop using my tablet, and as such less annoying.
Still, a permanent fix would be nice.

While there may be another issue underlying, one of the more prominant reboot causes on the phone is wifi.
I believe I may have found the cause of the problem, and with that a temporary fix.
The problem had me at a loss because some people had it and others didn't, so I concluded it to be caused by either wifi channel or security.
Doing some scanning I found my own wifi to be running on channel 3. Opening the router interface I found the channel setting, like most routers, was set to auto. I changed this setting to 6 and no more reboots.
The fix
If you are running your own wireless router, open the interface and use a standard channel (1,6,11, 6 is recommended if you use wireless N with 40mhz channel width). I will not help you set up your router as there are plenty of tutorials out there.
Sent from my SGH-T959V using xda premium
Unfortunately for me this is not the case. I've had my router set to channel 11 for some time. It does not change. Also, I've had the problem occur when wifi on the phone was not enabled.
After reading a thread in the Dev section on this kernel about it possibly being signal-strength related, I figured I would do some testing with different modems. I first went to the KD1 modem and it seemed fine for almost a day, then a reboot. Followed by a reboot soon thereafter. I switched to KG4 and the problem got worse. I do believe, however, that when it occurred my signal strength to T-Mobile (not via wifi) was weak/nonexistent.
I'm still on the KG4 modem despite the amount of issues I had with it last (one time it rebooted twice within the matter of a minute).
I think Bryan may be onto something provided in a log regarding the WM8994 module/code.
I'm glad you're still trying to figure out the issue as my time is limited these days. I hope we can narrow this issue down for the folks having the problem.
Thanks for your efforts and time!
Yes. As I said it appears there are 2 issues. My phone had started to reboot almost every 5 minutes when connected to wifi. There does also seem to be another issue causing reboots, but for some this may help.

I misread the first sentence. Sorry about that. Weird that wifi is causing that issue. I'm tempted to set my router to auto & see what happens. I set a channel for it long ago because I have a repeater to get the signal to the other side of the house and they would hang if both were set to auto.

I don't get great battery life as it is. I did notice yesterday or the day before, though, that when it reboots itself, the battery usage shows a sharp drop. I also noticed it's not a "full" reboot, but rather seems like a quick boot.
I agree with the half reboots and it also seems to me that they happen when the signal is low. I get a couple a day and usually while using data or wifi while indoors or while coverage is low. I don't know if these details help track it down or not but I wanted to leave my experiences.

This morning however I thought I had broken my ankle and was waiting for a call back on what to do. BAM, my blue tooth disconnected, I looked at the phone and saw the beats audio startup. Really bad timing for a reboot. Wifi wasn't on. Glad I didn't miss the call back. That would have really sucked.

You may have something there. I really don't understand how all the various work together, but seemingly there's something between the kernel and the modem. Since the reboots can be random though, it's hard for me to even guess. I flashed SCOM a little bit ago which uses the KD1 Modem with KJ6-v0.1.1-rc2. So we'll see.
Idk. It seams heat related. Also Bryan said that he either tracked it to userspace errors or he thinks its caused by userspace errors.

for those of you having the random reboot, did you do the gremlin removal steps + the factory wipe without the sd card in the phone? i would highly recommend this. after you have successfully done the gremlin remover, remove and reformat the sd card on the computer. while this is formatting, go back into cwm and wipe data/cache/dalvik without the sd card in the phone. once this is done, let the phone sit for 15 min or and and shut down. put the sd card in and reboot. if you still have random reboots, try the kh2 kernel.
I was going through the same reboot issues with kernels newer than 2D for a while. Then a few weeks ago I flashed FB's version and everthing ran great for a week. I was running VB with no additional tweaks of any kind. The week of no random reboots got me feeling good enough to start adding some of the typical changes I make to my phone... the first being changing some SD apps over to System apps ( Netflix, Skype, TB, Plume, Ninesky, ES File Ex, Camera Zoom FX & a few others)...BAM! Random reboots 4 to 5 times a day. Converted apps back after 3 days but the reboots persisted. Reflashed VB from scratch, keeping kernel that is packed in Raver's VB ROM, left apps alone and so far no reboots in 4 days. The only logs I found were similar to those posted on another thread where Bryan then said he didn't need anymore, he just needed time to de-bug.
Has anyone tried using the kj2 modem? kd1from SCOM was giving me random reboots left and right and after flashing kj2 last night my phone has been up for a little over 17 hrs without any issues. I know its not alot of time but its better than random reboots every hour or so. Signal strength also went up a bit.

I usually do the whole gremlin thing before every flash regardless. Actually formatting my sd on the puter as we speak. Then I'll do gremlin again, then reformat, etc. The things you mentioned at the end though I've never seen before, so I'll add those into the mix. With the SCOM flash this morning, the phone rebooted within 3 hours. I'm glad to see Bryan's back and that he's on top of it.
I had this problem and added the system mount on init.d scripts and the modem and don't have it. Never used the gremlin remover. So if the gremlin remover won't work for you as well, try what I say.

Someone suggested that it was due to the the task manager widget. I can confirm that I've been running this widget. If this is a common factor among all of us then maybe we have our culprit.

Has anyone had issues with random reboots with their TF700 or is it just me. I know the older Transformers had issues but I am experiencing that issue on my Prime Infinity and wondering if it is a software issue and if I should just wait for an update or if I should try returning it.

I was getting them initially. Tried a factory reset and restored all of my apps with only minimal data and still got them.
Then did a factory reset again, started restoring apps one at a time only as needed from Google Play, no Tibu. I did this slowly, installing two or three at a time and then using the system for an hour or more to verify non-flakiness. Did not install an alternate launcher (had been using Apex). Avoided freemium games that do push notifications. No major problems since.
Did find at least one app that may be problematic: Google Voice seems unstable for me. There were couple of others too, IIRC, but that's the one that sticks out in my head because I use it fairly regularly. Did not reinstall a lot of stuff that I never actually used.
The process was painful but highly recommended. As the system becomes heavily loaded it tends have a lot of junk that is running all the time and taking up memory, etc, which is a real issue for ASUS' ICS firmware. This is why games are flaky on the TF and is probably the source of a lot of the seemingly random weirdness that seems to only affect some people but not others, IMHO, because it makes the system too sensitive to what you have installed/running on your box which is different for everyone.
This why a factory reset seems to magically fix everything, too, because all of that cruft gets wiped until you start reinstalling all this junk and firing off all the associated processes (which in turn start background services/process, etc).
I will still occasionally run FMR memory cleaner when the machine is acting laggy or something crashes (usually gmail, lol) and everything clears right up. My two previous TF201s and my other TF700 were ALL like this. I'm convinced it's an ASUS firmware/kernel issue. I'm hopeful JB fixes it but have learned to pay attention to what I put on the thing in the mean time and it is running better than ever.
rooted, btw.
I've had my Infinity for a little over a month and within the last week or so I've had random system crashes. Thought I figured out what app it was and it had stopped crashing but now it started in again late last night.wondering if its a hardware issue. Gut feeling is that I should go exchange it at Best Buy and just play it safe. I am rooted and also wondering if this could possibly be a reason as well.
What I have found is that the Infinity becomes very unstable when memory gets below 200mb. I am using the Cool Tool widget to show available RAM and noticed that it would frequently get below 200mb with general use. I have since set background processes limit to at most 2 and this keeps my RAM about 300mb and above. It limits multi taking a bit, but has been much more stable.

Yes I think so. 4 is actually that much of apps that this is quite a good compromise between stability and multitasking. And either way this doesn't have "true" multitasking as for example youtube videos stop playing when going to other screen. Which is actually very annoying and thats one of the reasons why this really can't be laptop replacement.

Cool thanx! Tried that trick and haven't had any reboots since!
Current devices:
Galaxy Nexus
Nexus S
Nexus 7
Asus Transformer Infinity
I had my first random reboot since the .30 update, so the issues has not been eliminated.
Man, I would be *livid* if my TF700 had random reboots! Part of the reason I bought the TF700 was because my old TF101 has had random reboot issues with ICS (if I NVFlash Honeycomb it's stable as a rock). I haven't had a single random reboot with my TF700 though - and believe me, I watch for it (mainly via uptime widget)...
Have you guys always had random reboots since you purchased it??

So if we're thinking memory allocation is the issue here, I wonder if the V6 Supercharge would help out. I use it on my phone and it's incredible. I installed half of it on my tf700 earlier today, but I have to wait till I'm at a real computer before I apply the rest of the changes.
As a disclaimer, I've not had these random reboots, neither before nor after the OTA, though sometimes games will refuse to load with that whole nvidia issue. Haven't seen that for a little bit though either.
