Hello. Well it has been a great year with the Cappy, but I have moved on to the SGS 2, mostly due to Rogers very poor cell service in my area so when I had the chance to jump to Bell and the SGS 2 I had to. I would just like to sincerely thank all the devs on the Captivate forums for making my time with the Cappy very awesome. I have learned so much in the past year from all the hard work by all the devs on XDA. If Rogers cell service had been better in my area I definitely could have stayed with the Cappy easily for another year due to all your hard work.
I would like to specifically thank:
Watsa: for his Apex ROM, it was my daily driver.
Dlev7: his ROMs were the first I flashed and brought me to Gingerbread.
TRusselo: representing the Canadian flavour on XDA! Thanks for his stock ROM so I could flash my phone to get ready to sell.
LOSTLOGIC89: his KK4 ROM was the next I was going to flash until I decided to get the SGS2 and how he managed to constantly cook/update ROMs without a phone was crazy. Also, he stuck with the Cappy even when other Devs moved to the SGS2.
existz: TalonDEV kernel helped my Cappy to flyyyyyyyy.
xtremekilla09: loved your dialers and always used one when I could.
Cezar': AT&T bootloaders allowed me to move to Gingerbread.
So special thanks to all of you!
To all the other Devs, you make the Cappy far more awesome and keep up the work, it is appreciated by all.

Kinda wish you had a ROM for the SGS2 but I know there are soooo many ROMs on the dev threads it's crazy. It's overwhelming compared to the Cappy. Any suggestions Watsa? I was looking at the Omega ROM and the Dlev ROM mostly because they have a combination of features and theme I like.
Date set for a leak? haha that's new!
Thanks again Watsa.

Personally speaking there is no need of a custom rom on gs2. We can use odexed stock with jkay mod... unless u want a theme... I am a fan of how sgs2 looks out of the box

The stock ROM is pretty good. The only thing is that it is not the most up to date version of gingerbread and I've gotten used to some features I had on my Cappy that I don't have with stock like battery mod, extended power menu, more controls in the notification, and themes. Can jkay mod supply these things?

That I did not know. Thanks! Cezar' made it easy to change the bootloaders on my phone tho!
I am running Team Hacksung's ICS Build 9 and since I can't thank them there yet - due to not having enough posts - I will do it here. Thanks to Team Hacksung and the entire community for all their help. My cappy never looked so good.

Totally agree - much gratitude for all the devs who have had a hand in developing ROMs for the SGS Captivate! So nice to not have to rely on Rogers for updates...

I found this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=743769 and i was wondering how could we install it on our phones?
bound for general.
Possibly, they only problem is it relies on the stock vibrant rom to work. It could be possible to do the same thing as installing the i9000/samset roms. Basically flash the vibrant rom then the cappy kernel then load up that custom rom. I doubt its that easy tho. That rom doesn't seem optimized or anything tho, it just has a ton of preloaded stuff on it so it doesn't seem worth the trouble IMO.

Designgears is doing some sweet stuff for Cappy development, but his attitude is also the reason why we don't get a lot of the even sweeter I9000 stuff. He doesn't own a Vibrant or I9000 so they can just GTFO if they want anything for their version, which is what a lot of the I9000 say to us basically.
Hi guys, it looks like the G2X will be out at 20th April, but I know that few of you have the device now (for testing purposes, etc.).
Would you mind taking some time, and sharing with us dump of /system and boot partitions?
Thanks in advance

Today is officialy out
I really hope the G2X Vanilla ROM does not have the same lags as the optimized O2X ROM from MoDaCo.
Well, MoDaCo Rom is much much better than original. But just try to add a widget - Why the hell does it take so long to show the whole list...? On my Desire it appears immediately...

Its definitely a ROM problem,
In the past T-Mobile's ROM's have been decent, very lightweight and fast, and i would expect nothing less this time.
I still think the G2 ROM is one of the best Froyo ROM's out there

@JupiterDroid: Good to see you here mate! Good you trade the HTC Desire HD in for a LG Optimus 2X, or didnt you?
I'd love to know if the G2X firmware can be run on the regular 2X. The thought of running the LG firmware isn't all that appealing
(I haven't actually received my phone yet)
I already ordered the g2x, and it should be here in a few days. If its not posted til then, ill put up a system dump. I just hope the roms between the two devices are interchangeable

Am hoping the ROMs will be fully interchangeable between the devices.
Otherwise, I may stay with the stock ROM for awhile - of course, after rooting, flashing recovery, and freezing unwanted apps with titanium. And maybe an overclock kernel (if compatible).
Since it should be an open device, I don't think it will be long before XDA ports a 2.3 ROM for it.

I see a couple people but where are all the roms? google even released 2.3.4 source but I haven't seen the explosion of developement for this phone yet. despite a few issues this phone is one badass phone. after i got one without screen bleed and really sunk into it this phone is better that any android i've ever used and has features the Samsung Galaxy S 2 won't have such as nvidia tegra 2 which in my opinion is a much more solid piece of hardware and a much more well known company than the one on the SGS 2. and Smartshare, Ultra dolby digital mobile!!! this phone is the ****! plus i heard bionix was coming to this phone via team whiskey! I see faux released a rom and he doesn't even have the phone! we have a good start but....
Where are the devs!!!??? please we need you people. you guys make phones these expensive things worth purchasing for the insane amounts of money they cost. oh mighty development lords, please develope!
its called patience.
to quote the Princess Bride "I hate waiting..." lol i have patience it just doesn't seem like many have signed on yet like with the vibrant i've had for 10 months.
You also have to remember that out dev section is split between the o2x and g2x. These two forums should be combined.

+1 would be a disaster.
I agree development is slower than I'd expected..
I was gonna make a ROM, but the stock ROM with Titanium Backup is best for me. If you build AOSP you lose the awesome Camera app that LG wrote and you lose all the cool apps that come with the G2x.
For me I just uninstall the apppack app and freeze the wifi calling app and I'm good to go.
I tried the GB build and it had GPS issues and didn't have the nice camera app.
So I'm happy with the stock setup with a few tweaks.

Closer to 3 weeks. It's amazing how some people think it is easy to develop a rom.
It would help if anyone could build a kernel from the lg source that didn't break wifi and bt. All attempts have failed.....
I actually thought the opposite, I thought development is going great!
I don't remember really seeing any major development for the Vibrant until after 2 Months!
And we already have a. 2.3.3 and a 2.3.4 Rom out!

i agree. guess i feel spoiled from all the vibrant support. i figured this phone would explode fast in dev. since we had root so fast and dual core, plus being a google phone. hopefully t-mobile gets off their ass and releases the official gingerbread like they promised before i purchased my phone (which was the ONLY reason i even was ok with purchasing an android 2.2 again). maybe that'll fix the problem ttabbal was talking about with the kernels.
Lack of Dev support for SkyrockeT???? I call it BS. Just an excuse for someone to hate Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket. What do you think?
Less than a month and we have 11 ROMs total, some customized and others stock.

I noticed a few of the devs from the inspire over on this forum. Pirateghost is an example. He had a very nice rom in the inspire forum. I'm not worried about it at all. Go skyrocket. I think people aren't willing to wait for it. They open the forum and don't see cm7 or miui and they haul ass. This device WILL get ICS. And its an awesome phone with awesome hardware, I haven had one single problem yet.

If you want raver to port a rom you will have to find a way to help him raise the money for a new computer to dev on like the chromebook once he has something to do his work on, he will do his magic for you guys when he has time
Ericmm is the porting king.
For a donation or if asked nicely ....
I'm sure he may consider it.
This is a good idea. That ROM looks very good and I think GB needs some love. Also, besides Erik, Dao is a very good option for it. I know there are some other's too.
BTW... We just got 2 new ROMs. So maybe in time we will keep getting more.

looking at the screenshots from the link provided by OP and asking raver to port it seems kinda redundant. if you ask me, it looks like they ported one of raver's imfamous Audiophile ROMs from back in the froyo/gb days. take a look.

first off crysis isnt a rom its just a higly modified theme over a stock rom. There is some tweaks to it but nothing that has not been done before. Second off see above.
