Minor differences. Nothing to really worry about.

Try CM7 or EaglesBlood that's based on CM7. Been using that for months and have never gotten a black screen.
Eaglesblood is without a doubt one of the most stable and effective roms i have used on the g2x, and i also recommend faux's kernel. They work really well together.
Which kernel did u use?

Im gonna start using the CM7.
They are telling me to install GAPPS but when I click their link it, it takes me to a place with bunch of lists..idk what to do.
and what is CM7 Nightly? is it recommended to install that?
It tells you which gapps you need to install should say ace something or other. Just download it from that list.
For gapps, you want the one I highlighted in orange.
thanks.
what else should I do with the CM7? there are many cm7 links out there and its confusing me. T_T

It's pretty solid with a fresh flash. You could flash a different kernel but the stock one is perfectly capable.
Do yourself a favor and flash ultimate droid instead of cm7. Ud is based on cm7, but much faster and with better battery life.
I tried cm7 and thought it was awful. Buggy, nd battery life sucked.

Ick! There is a reason ultimate droid isn't allowed in xda. Do yourself a favor and do some research before flashing. Also I kinda don't understand how something that is merely a hacked and skinned version of cm7 is so much better.

This is the reason why I lol every time I see someone say that. It's just a re-skinned CM7 with a few more features (that you can do yourself) and a different kernel.
On topic, I would flash the latest nightly. It's just as stable as 7.0.2.
CM7 Inspire 4G
I am looking for some advise on the best combo for the G2X. If I could get some advise or input on the best ROM and Kernel to flash I would really appreciate it. I am looking for something to use for my daily driver. I appreciate your help.

For a daily driver I would suggest EB Froyo. Awesome ROM.
I would suggest to not flash any kernels, stock is the best for now.
The kernels we got are in beta phase and I have experienced freezes and lock ups using them.
Hope that helps

It stands for "Android Open Source Project"
So basically his ROM is kind of like the base ROM where everyone could start making, and cooking their ROMs.
I flashed his ROM but I like the LG keyboard plus I like the stock camera too, that's the only reason I don't use it as my daily driver, oh and is a big hassle to have to set up everything again.

I've tried a lot of ways the only from I got to work on my G2X is Genesis from Mr.Apocalypse and Hellfire before 1.6 and I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I do the regular wipe data/cache/Davilk and its a no go. I even used some new Nuliffier <-- lol I know that's not spelled right but I got that the single wipe and then tried to flash it and its a no go sooo can someone help me out and tell me if I'm missing something ??????

There's been a bug with 4.0.4 roms that requires you to flash it twice, one after another, nothing in between. Next time you try a rom like that, take note of how long it takes to install. If it only took a few seconds, it wasn't properly flashed. Flash again right away and you should notice it taking longer to install. Then flash your gapps and/or kernel if ya need it and reboot. Should be good.

It doesn't effect the EB AOSP ROM. It's 4.0.3.
@Caliyork yeah your right I really ain't notice that but I'll be looking at that, have you been successful putting kernels on because I have the same problem with that ?? I mean I got one to go thru but when it fully booted up the touch didn't work and I couldn't unlock it so it wasn't functional. I had to restore and run a rom without a kernel.
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA
are you flashing the proper kernel, sounds like you grabbed a kernel for a different phone, I'm guessing something from the Morfic collection?
Hmm could be, but I was in the g2x forum and I browsed for kernels and I got fauxs 123 kernel, Trinity, and Harshs and none of them seemed to have worked, I used Mr.Apocalypse and none of them went thru. Cud u give me links to see if any were the right ones ? Do you use OC/UV ?
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA
All those that are directly in the forum are correct except maybe harsh his might've been a p990 kernel. Some phones don't play well with some kernels.

Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA
I'm not sure referring to quality control is accurate, but phones do have bad batches or manufacturing tolerances and what not. Can't always get the cream of the crop.
That's practically the one reason why I chose the G2x instead of the HTC MyTouch 4G lol. Bad EMMC happens to die on you and you've got yourself an expensive brick.
Have you tried any other ROM other than ICS roms? Trying to figure out if the problem is restricted to those only. Might help.

Haha yeah I've heard that before but I'm not sure if I have a bad batch because I got Genesis, AOKP, and Hellfire (ICS roms) to work fine but could not get any custom kernels that supported OC/UV to work on them. Uhh I actually been using nothing but ICS roms I never tried and other roms that supported GB just cuz I wanted to be updated. Are you on any other Roms or you using a ICS rom ?
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA
I've used a lot of different ROMs, and they all work fine. But I'm on the stock LG 2.3.4 that was released lately, and that's been running really super.
Flashing ICS doesn't necessarily mean that you're up to date when a lot of things don't work. I've used AOKP, EB's AOSP, HFS and Owain's. I have multiple problems with data dropping, APN's disappearing when entering Airplane mode or mass storage just completely does not work. Not to mention, NO NETFLIX!
As far as kernel issues, make sure you're installing the appropriate ones for the P999 and make sure they're ICS specific and not for the GB kernels.
Edit: If I remember, EB's AOSP uses a modified Faux Kernel that supports OC right off the bat, so there's no need to flash a different kernel.
That's true never thought of it like that where can I get the rom you are using ???? And yeah I tried to get EB AOSP to work but it wont for me -_____- lol
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA
I'm using a stock rom. If you feel adventurous then flash the new V21y baseband (50% likely to brick your phone hard). If not, I would just stick with GB. My all time favorite is WeaponG2x.

So I've been reading since I did my root and flashed infusion 1.8 I'm wanting to mess around with custom roms I was seeing there is an miui it says it's 2.3.5 based my question is do I have to have ginger bread to flash this rom is that what it means when it's 2.3.5 based? I've googled and looked around the forums and couldn't really find anything on the subject so even a link would help I dont mind reading for myself thx guys
If you feel you are a noob, I would recommend non miui or non cm9 roms.

Any possibility of having a CM7 build available? I'm sure there's some of us not a fan of ICS and would prefer a stable and reliable daily driver of a GB ROM.

Umm closest you're going to get other than CM9 is this Stock optimized Sense:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1613917
It's not a bad rom though honestly. Stock Sense has its pros, with the optimization it'll be smooth.

I just downloaded/flashed to no avail. Wouldn't boot at all.
I guess I'll try that unsensed because thats really what I want, not a fan of sense at all. It'd just be nice to have an official CM7 build, you know?
EDIT: I'm so stupid. I forgot I have S-ON ahaha. I'll reflash the boot.img first.
ICS, and GB will have the same issues. But only when there AOSP based. The GB kernel is a hacked up kernel. The ICS Kernel is built from source, and ported over to our device. If you want stable, hit out a stock based ROM.
