[Q] A few Questions? - HTC Sensation

Good morning Xda members,
i got a Sensation Xe last wee and I installed ARHD on it.
Now i've got same questions about the rom and about the phone itself?
- Is there any big difference betwenn the bricked and Faux kernel?
- Is it bad that my phone gets very hot at the bottom of the touchscreen while playing with it. Is that a problem of the Custom Rom or is that a general prob of the sensation xe?
- Is the beats audio mod in ARHD the same like in the stock rom?

Hi,
1.The difference between faux and bricked is open to debate. What works well for some people, may not work for everyone.
It is a question of "TRY IT YOURSELF" and see how it works for you.
2.The phone getting hot is another variable issue between people, and AFAIK dependent on the kernel and the version of the kernel that you use.
Again,"TRY IT YOURSELF" and see how it works for you.
3.Beats is the same.

Hi,
The thing is to flash mods using the same base as your ROM.
If you check my sig , I have battery mods for ARHD base 2.3.4 and 2.3.5
Check with your ROM'S dev,to see which base you are using, and then flash the appropriate mod.
ALWAYS MAKE A NANDROID BACKUP BEFORE YOU INSTALL A MOD
For beats I installed THIS MOD ,because I am on base 2.3.5 using Sense 3.5
Or you could install ARDH 3.6.3 XE which contains beats anyway.

You can install anything you want, you just have to know what it is you want to do. Lets say you want to have beats audio (using the previous posters example). You know you have a stock ROM, version 2.3.4 most likely, so just find a beats audio only mod for 2.3.4 bases running Sense 3.0.
Or, as the previous poser says, you can install a whole ROM that already includes it. ARHD basically simulates a Sensation XE by removing the under-clocking on the CPU thats there stock bringing it up to 1.5 Ghz, adding beats audio, and overall just smoothing out the ROM. It looks the same as the stock ROM, it just works better.
The best thing to do is just make a backup of how it is now through recovery, then try stuff out and see what you like. You can always restore your backup and it will be right back to how it was before you did anything.

EDIT: Saw you came from ARHD. Sorry to hear about the bad luck. But yes, you can install mods without a full ROM.

Yeah I did tried 3 of the most recent arhd Rom, it is smooth and fast but has too many glitches on my phone. I tried installing the recommended radio it does fixed my signal issue, but after 3 days of using my phone keeps goin on a black screen when somebody calls me or text me so I decided to revert to stock

Interesting. Did you try turning the CPU back down to 1.2 GHz? I have ran 3.6.1 and only had one reboot before I switched to the beta kernel, never had any issues with 3.6.2 which came with the same kernel I upgraded to with 3.6.1, but I switched to bricked 0.91 kernel and its even better. Tried 3.6.3 and had a bunch of FC problems and issues so I restored back to 3.6.2.
Basically they all have worked well for me, but I've read of some people needing to stay at 1.2 GHz because of problems you have described.

I haven't tried restoring to 1.2ghz , I just restored my phone back to stock I got tired of trying all the versions and seems all of the versions I flashed had issues on my phone, don't get me wrong but I do love the speed and smoothness of arhd its just those fcs, unstable signal and not to mention the black screen issue. But like you said I haven't tried using different kernel I just used the one that came with the Rom and the other faux kernel that one of xda member suggested the beta 10. I even tried the insertcoin 3.3.9 and same issue with signal. I'm on tmobile carrier I don't know if that causes the signal issue with most of the Rom I flashed.

Well, I'm on T-Mobile also and have had no issues, thats strange. Did you flash the recommended radio also? Maybe you need to try a different one if so.
I really like the Bricked kernel, it runs faster/smoother and the battery life is better than the Faux kernels I used - at least what I've seen so far. I run Sense 3.0 so Im limited to Bricked 0.91, but its still plenty good from what I've seen. He is developing more for Sense 3.5 kernels at this point I think.
Anyway, if it was me, I would try one of the ARHD ROMs with a bricked kernel (the kernel can also affect your reception I believe). If you still have issues, try clocking it back to 1.2 Ghz. I too ran IC for a little while, but finally just settled back to ARHD for a few reasons.

What arhd version you using and kerne so maybe I can try and use itl? I believe mike suggested to.flash it with the radio 10.58 which I did and it made my signal stable but few fcs and blackscreen so I reverted back to stock.

Currently running ARHD 3.6.2 with bricked 0.91 kernel at 1.5 GHz and the mods in my sig with whatever the recommended radio is in the ARHD thread. I have no issues and use it quite a bit every day. I might give 3.6.4 a shot though.

Hi,
You really are having no luck...
Can I ask:
What was your signal like when you first got your phone out-of-the-box?

Hi,
Have you tried a custom ROM with the original radio?
I know it won't be matched,but sometimes it's a needs must situation.
Use the radio that will give you the BEST signal.
It might just be that it's the only one that will work properly in YOUR area.

Hi,
So,what combination of ROM and radio was the best for signal?
And with your current set-up,do you ALWAYS have bad signals?
Or does it vary from area to area?

Sensation///MIUI 1.12.30 kernel problem!

Good day and great job everybody!
One question in advance, why is the MIUI 1.12.30 ROM advertised in the Sensation forum but only the 1.12.23 version available when you follow the download link?
Anyway here is the main deal:
I installed MIUI 1.12.30 in german by Sidy. Before that I wiped cache/data/dalvik/battery. After that I wiped cache/dalvik again and installed the Tiamat Kernel for the Sensation.
Now:
Whenever I am on a call and the proximity sensor gets active, i.e. the screen goes dark, it appears the call is dropped. The bars show no service and the drop call sounds.
BUT:
The call is not dropped. If you remove your head the call reappears as a notification in the top bar about 10 sec later.
This is not service bug, right? As I understood this had to do with the lockscreen...
I am now sure that I is connected to the kernel as it now first appears after the kernel flash. But what makes me curious is that this setup was actually running well until now. The only difference is that I tried out MIUI WP7 and ICS by Virtous with a lot of backup and restore inbetween. I know did a clean install as described above and the bug keeps reappearing.
Anyhow, does anyone have the same problem??
Does anyone know a kernel that runs well with MIUI on the Sensation??
(Had the same problem with Bricked 1.6)
Help is highly appreciated!!!
Bye Essi
You are using a sense kernel with an AOSP ROM. flash an AOSP kernel

ARHD 6.2.1 XE WiFi Issue (For Both 1.2Ghz & 1.5 Ghz Kernel)

Sorry to be a bother but I seem to have this problem.
I am unable to connect to any other WiFi network other than my previously setted up WiFi address during First Boot. Could you help me troubleshoot about this problem?
-cheers
I have a similar issue, mine loses wifi connection often since 6.2.1 XE, the wifi signal is at full, but fails to obtain IP Address most of the time except on the first wifi i set it up with, most likely another one of those bugs HTC is working on so someone can take a copy home and give it to us... cant wait for full ICS from HTC source, dont get me worng, the current RUU leaks are good, but not perfect.
HTC Hurry up please, Me with my Sensation and my Girlfriend with her EVO 3D want ICS without bugs...
im also in arhd xe version.but havent got any wifi issue

I have a feeling it has to do with the ROM.
I have flashed SebastianFM's kernels, new & old radios, and I still seem to have the same problem.
It is definitely not due to the Firmware since I have flashed multiple other ROM's but only ARHD seem to have the problem.
What I'm suspecting is that this problem is due to the mismatched Firmware and ROM since the rom is based on 3.25 and the firmware is 3.24. But who am I to say that.
Hope mike has a fix for that soon~ :x
then try it by flashing 1.5ghz kernel
Sent from my HTC Sensation XE with Beats Audio using XDA App
I have flashed both kernels. Even the ones on Sebastian's thread.
try WiFix (search google for the xda thread for it) or this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1436683
I tried prior to your post but I still seem to have the same problem. Oh well...

ARHD Kernel Question

Hi quick question about the kernel choices in Android Revolution HD 6.6.1
It gives you the choice to choose between 3 kernels.
The first is the stock kernel, but my question is about the custom kernels:
Faux123 & Sebastian(something) -
Whats the difference?
Any one which is better?
Any advantage or disadvantages to either?
each has their own advantages / disadvantages. But its up to you to try them and see which one suits YOU !
I have always used sebastians Kernel, I found it gave great stability and good battery
Im currently using FAUX now, and i find it gives excellent performance...
There is no better / worse kernel, nor is there a better / worse ROM or anything else for that matter.
Its all down to the user and what they want from it, So try both, Test them for a few days and see which you prefer...
Both kernels are fantastic, with regular improvements and updates too !

i think faux kernel is best. coz im using it now. it save my batter life

Thanks for the responses!!!
Yeah I'm using the Faux kernel at the moment and have definitely noticed an improvement on performance when compared to the stock kernel.
Only thing I haven't got to check is battery life, if that holds up well then I'll be very happy. Probably give it a try for a week then try the Sebastian one for a week then decide.
Overall though really happy with the performance boost on the Faux kernel.. just hope it not a placibo effect.
Can I really decide between kernels while flashing Rom? Or do I have to download and flash it mzself?

Most custom ROMS will let you choose a kernel or stay with stock. I rather flash kernels on my own after flashing the Rom with stock.

[Q] Touchscreen Issues

I have a strange problem. My touchscreen won't work with certain roms or kernels. Viper is one of them. After installing the rom i have to flash bricked kernel to make the touchscreen work. What might be the problem? After searching found some people with the same problem. But instead of finding a solution they kept using working kernels.
My wife's phone has this problem but only with viper.
She was already running viper (1.5.2 I think) when the screen just stopped responding one day (it was fine in recovery though).
Since then, its fine with any other Rom we've tried, but every time we try to flash a viper Rom, the screen doesn't work straight away.
Personally I think whatever the problem is is caused by viper, which is a shame cos its a damn fine Rom!!!
Sent from my HTC Sensation XE with Beats Audio Z715e
Same thing here. On recovery it works just fine. Besides Viper rom I've had the same problem with the stock rom and maybe few other roms that I don't remember. Also got the bricked kernel tip from your post.
We've gone back to sense 3.6 and loving it to be honest. Using elegancia bliss 3.8.0 at the minute but will be flashing darkforest 7.3.0 as soon as it is released
