[Q]Restoring efs - Nexus S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I backed up my efs through Brainmasters auto backup script and I was wondering how I could restore it. My phones running fine. I'm just curious.

Copy contents of tar file into /efs
Done.

Lol I expected it to be a little more complicated that that
Thanks. I'd hit the thanks button. But I'm on Tapatalk. I'll do it when I'm on a computer.

Titanium backup question

I was never prompted to create an account when I downloaded titanium backup. How does it work when I wipe and flash a new a rom? Or get a new device?
Sent from my LG-P999 using xda app-developers app
It saves the apk & data on a file on your sd. Just put the backup in your new phone sd and tb will recognize it.
Cool thanks for the reply.

My nexus 7 doesn't have the cannot store in sd card since it doesn't have a slot, so when i flash a new rom how can I restore my apps?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using XDA Premium HD app
I just flashed a rom today. Went to the store downloaded titanium backup and it instantly started loading and restoring my apps. As long as you have titanium backup restored of course

Although for some reason it didn't restore my gta3 data which I was a little pissed... but ohwell. Everything else went smooth as butter once I remembered to flash gapps with the rom I flashed lol

It probably restored the data on the SD. Use a file explorer and try to paste and replace it in root.
You would have to find the file in the phone data I think. Can't rmb.

Well I did move it to SD card. Then I got a new SD card. Tried to see the files from my old card on my computer and was going to transfer them but there didn't seem to be anything on it important?? If that makes sense. And in titanium backup I had all my user apps on SD card buut nothing showed on my computer.

Hi.
Can I make a backup of WiFi settings - passwords from one Rom and restore them to another?
I used to have problems backing system data up from different ROMs. But you can try it, should be under backup system data in TiBu. WiFi settings maybe?

How would we do that? How would we get the old data and permissions?
We can't take any files right?

What did your friend do to delete their EFS folder? And what's happening to the phone since it's been deleted?

I don't see how that would happen unless he flashed a CM rom meant for a different phone on his VZW GSIII. So your friend no longer has the /EFS folder correct? What is his phone doing now or rather what is he unable to do presently? Does it boot? Able to get into download mode or recovery? Not making calls/texts/data?
I'm a little surprised by this, I'm not too sure how to fix an entire missing EFS folder.

I ready don't know how he did this but what should he do? Should he send it to Samsung?

This topic needs more clarification if your going to get any help.

Here's the story:
He said he flashed a CM nightly and now his EFS folder is gone.
He is thinking of reseting then download counter and sending it back to Samsung because it still is under warranty

Why doesn't he just make a new efs backup?

But he doesn't have a previous EFS backup to begin with. How does he make a new one?
I keep a EFS backup in my internal sdcard with a list of the various permissions, so I have one just in case something terrible happens

Same way he made the first one. There's a whole thread on it. Did you even look at the sticky roll up thread?

Its easily searched via google as well.

Accidentaly deleted sdcard/bluetooth and i can't restore/recriate it

Well, just got my new N5 and already manager to screw up LOL, anyway, I was transferring some files through ES File Explorer from my tablet when I deleted the Bluetooth folder to clear everything up, and when I tried to import files from it again, it didn't work, and I remembered I deleted that folder. I tried to create another one, didn't work, which was weird, and now I don't know what else to do, I need these files backed up here... Help, pls?

32 GB to 16 GB?

I have a 32 GB version Nexus 5, but now I see this in the memory section of the settings:
I run Slimkat+ Code Blue kernel... what is happened?
Sent from my Nexus 5 using XDA Free mobile app
Covered million times. Even in some of the sticky threads. Please use search
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
You mean the fact that 32 GB isn't really 32 GB but something like 29 GB?
Sent from my Nexus 5 using XDA Free mobile app
No. I mean a 32 GB version showing as a 16 GB version

I find it... so I have to do a factory reset to solve this?
Sent from my Nexus 5 using XDA Free mobile app
If I full wipe the smartphone and then I restore the nandroid backup of the Slimkat (a nandroid of how I am at the moment) it will work?
Sent from my Nexus 5 using XDA Free mobile app
Possibly.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
Ok, let's try.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using XDA Free mobile app
It doesn't work..
How can I do?
Sent from my Nexus 5 using XDA Free mobile app
Ok, I'm going to use the second method. (Second post of the thread "how to flash the factory image"in the sticky roll-up)
Just a question: flashing the factory image will delete my nandroid backup, right?
If yes, I can save a copy of the backup in my pc and paste it in the device after flashing the factory image and restore it?
Sent from my Nexus 5 using XDA Free mobile app
The factory reset would also have deleted your nandroid if you'd done it from stock recovery like the thread says.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
In fact I see this after the factory reset with TWRP, anyway I can do what I said in the last post?
To flash the recovery stock I simply use the command fastboot flash like I was flashing the factory images or I have to do anything else?

Flashing the factory image will wipe your device if you use the flash-all bat. Copy your nandroid to your pc. You can copy it back after you re-flash install your recovery

Ok, it worked, now I have only the last question:
In the "TWRP" folder in the Nexus now I have to put only the "BACKUPS" folder or "BACKUPS" and ".twrps"?
Thanks!

You'll need to put the nandroid backup file in twrp/backups/your device serial number/

Yes, but now that I have reflashed the TWRP there is no folder in it, just TWRP..anyway I saved on PC the whole folder "TWRP"
