[Q] Prevent ota update and notification - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a rooted Transformer with a pending OTA update. However, my device is used for testing and I don't want to update. I want to prevent any future OTA updates from downloading and kill the notification of the already downloaded update. Can someone point me tell me how I would go about doing that? Any help is appreciated.

[Q] Question- How to disable OTA FROYO 2.2

I hope this is the right place to ask this question-
I have rooted DROID with SimpleRom and am very happy with it.
The problem now is I keep getting message notification that the over-the-air update for FROYO 2.2 is available for install.
How do I disable this notification. I do not want to write over my current system.
Thanks in advance!
I had the same problem as you. It got really annoying. However, Today I don't remember any notifications popping up for the update. Hopefully that's the case.
Sent from my Droid using XDA App
ended up letting the update try and install. Recovery blocked it, and no more notification since.

New Firmware for Asus TF101G

Today I got a message to install a new firmware for my transformer. However, if I do so, the installation aborts after one third of download, and I get a Android man, and a triangle with a yellow exclamation mark. The reason is probably that my system is rooted (running stock rom B80 with 8.6.6.19).
I do not really want this update. But how can I stop the update message? I can only delay the OTA for one day in the update activity.
And, does anyone have an information about the update? Is it worth going back to unrooted? And can I root again afterwards?
pretty sure it fixes the app backup hole that you got root with so i wouldn't update.
To prevent notification Freeze DMClient app with titanium backup
also there should be a .zip labled update or something like it in your /asus/ folder if you could post the number on the file name
I am not happy to admit that, but I messed around with build.prop until the system no longer reboots. I have to restore my backup. When I am back, I will report.
Back
OK, I am back.
Installed Titanium Backup, but did not find the option you are referring to. Can you explain, please? Thanks.
I found only one asus folder on /sdcard/asus, and this is for web storage. It is empty. Where do you want me to look for the file number?
You can use this app to temp un-root your device. If you read the subject, some transformer users used this tool for OTA updates.

Looks too dangerous. I need a rooted device for Cisco VPN. And maybe that small update is not worth the trouble.
Things might be different, if OTA updates to Android 4. But by then, there will be ROMs available too.
can you upload your dlpkgfile? Also, which locale are you in?
Update
I' ve had the same information about update.
It's still 3.2.1.
Just to finish this discussion: I purchased Titanium Pro, and found an option to disable (it is not called "freeze") the update client. Thanks for the hint.

Disable JB system update reminder for a while?

I have a Nexus S on T-Mobile USA (not rooted). I have the notification of the OTA update to Jelly Bean. I'm seeing enough issues reported here with JB that I would like to wait a while.
How can I disable the "System Update" notification that appears every time I unlock the phone, but still retain the option to install the update later?

Asus camera firmware update

I seem to have run into a strange firmware update loop. A couple of days ago my tablet received ota to update camera firmware. I accepted the update and it automatically installed however everytime I reboot, I receive the ota again telling me to update the camera firmware. How do I get rid of this? I have disabled dmclient and cmclient as I've read those are linked to asus ota but the update still shows up.
I am running blue android. Any help or insight would be much appreciated as it is very annoying.
Cheers

How stop stop Lollipop OTA update?

On my HTC One, there was a way in the secret dialer menu to disable OTA updates. Is that possible my G3? I'm rooted w/TWRP and want to stay that way, but the OTA update notification is always there and once a day the phone reboots itself to apply update. And then I have run FixRecoveryLoop.zip in TWRP and reboot. It's getting irritating. Can I disable the Lollipop OTA notification somewhere in this rooted phone?
Thanks,
Steve
Whoops, too easy.

Well that doesn't work. It's still notifying and downloading the OTA?

If you have the paid version of Titanium backup you can try freezing "Software Update" and "com.lge.lgfota.permission". I know that I never received a download and have not received any notifications about an update.
