World's 2nd phone that got Official ICS Android 4.0 Update - Android General

Who's got the official update for Ice cream sandwich secondly in the world?
the answer is not Nexus S but Huawei Honor (U8860)
the official website of Huawei already provided the ICS update download at here:

these photos are from CMO of Huawei's weibo(Chinese version of twitter)

I'm assume the person that said that was referring to their phones. They make cheap, ugly, low-quality devices that no one really cares for.

If google reads this, come one guys, you cant keep us waiting forever.

So it angers that they provided a preview? I am using a preview... who cares?
Where is my G Nexus?

You guys know the Google doesn't create the update for huwaie, right?

anything useful into those packages?
I've no idea about what hardware that Huwey uses... but I suppose there are other phones sharing the same SOC and that would make a good use of those binaries...
//EDIT:
if I'm not mistaken it uses the same SoC as the Desire HD?
I smell full ICS kernels for desire HD finally coming

Great move by Huavei! Don't realy care about ICS, gingerbread is great.

Only in North America, and that's only because the American gov't has limited the scope of Huawei's dealings with American carriers. They did so because Huawei works closely with the Chinese gov't and Congress didn't like that they would sell a lot of high end phones in the U.S. In the rest of the world, you can find high end devices that are competitive with Samsung and HTC.. So thank your Congressmen and women for that.

This has been known for a while .
I don't see this being a problem for very long especially on htc, considering that phones like the holiday will more then likely have international "brothers/sisters", that means there will be dev support worldwide working to break open a phones boot loader. I would assume the only reason it hasn't been done to the atrix, is because honestly the phone is a flop. Blur put a bad taste in everyones mouth and not alot of people want to mess with moto.
If you hit up other htc phone boards here on xda there are literally hundreds of developers working on htc phones. I have said it before where there is a will there is a way.
Atrix is no flop
Sent from my MB860 using XDA App
Locked bootloaders do much harm to the phones' sales. I like the sense rom but the default stock one comes with a lot of bloat and poor battery performance. I flashed the dilligaf's V2 rom and my phone now flies. When the manufacturers cannot unleash the full potential of the phone, why the hell do they have to lock their bootloaders for?

HAHAHA! That's funny sh*t.
Anyways... If the manufacturers and Phone companies would actually leave the phones open, we wouldn't have this issue.
It wouldn't be too hard for them to do...build a recovery image right into the phone. If something screws up, they is a keypress sequence that would force install factory firmware. Bam...No more brick, and start over. I know I have reference the PSP in several other posts, but they did it right. Maybe the phone manufacturers should take a hint.
There is a PSP dev that goes by Dark_Alex... He created the "Despertar del Cementerio." This translates to "Wake the Dead." This was a service battery and memory stick combo that would literally UNBRICK your PSP. I actually have one, and have purposely killed the power during a firmware update to test it. And it works! Anyways, the point is...this is VERY possible with these phones, no one has done it yet tho.

I just got one this week via China. Its really hard to get. They've just sold 500,000 in 24 hours and run out of stock. I doubt they will be coming to the rest of the world any time soon until they have satisfied Chinese domestic demand
Comes with stock MIUI - did an OTA update a couple of days ago. Build quality and spec is amazing for what I paid for it.
Xiaomi are offering owners the chance to beta test Android 4.0.3 (non MIUI). Not many manufacturers would take this approach
I have given up on this phone, and I am waiting on the SGS III

This is terrible advice. Don't buy something that isn't popular? Really? If I had gone by that rule I'd never have bought my HD2 or my Evo View & I'd have missed out on two excellent devices. Just because something is popular doesn't mean it's the best.
Here's some advice that everyone can follow- do your research, go to the store & play with different devices, and buy whichever one you like best.

The only reason apple updates for so long is because it has literally like 6 devices to update. HTC has like 30+, all with diffrerent RIL, screen sizes, ram, processors, and carriers.
The CyanoogenMod developers don't work for you, don't expect anything from them.

Android 4.1 is a stupid simple update from ICS. It isn't all that different and a lot of stuff will carry over. The developer's well get 4.1 running as soon as they can, if they can. The reason we don't have ICS is because we don't have a RIL yet. That should come with the first ICS leak.
If Apple's release schedule is superior then I think it's time for you to go buy an iPhone. The dev's are already pretty stressed out about this, and they do all their work for free. You honestly don't have the right to demand anything.
If you want the latest updates immediately after they come out, you should have bought a Nexus device.
Also, Cyanogenmod isn't the only AOSP build out there, and there are many better ones. I'd research into most of them, since the active CM developers for the Tbolt are working with 7, not 9(which is ICS based) it could be a while.
I also hope that your american comment was not serious, but it doesn't matter. The damage is done. Attitudes like that are the reason that a lot of other nations look down on the US and consider the citizen's ignorant and stupid.

They spent 900 bucks plus airfare to get to IO I don't think anyone will touch Jelly Bean until source is released in mid July. SDK ports are buggy as all get out and nothing more than proof of concept. We still won't have a fully functional ROM until LG releases ICS source. On the bright side, drivers should be able to be ported from ICS to JB, until GB to ICS.
i see Paul at modaco.com already has JB rom w/kitchen for the galaxy nexus the G2x versions will be uber gimped due to lg's inability to release the source to the dev community. reason why i sold my g2x for a gnex and haven't looked back.

Yep, no contract. It's an amazing phone, it's totally worth it.

I thought the Galaxy Nexus was sold on Tmobile's site, I guess not. Either way, will definitely look into this as my next phone.
I should have waited before buying my GNEX....*facepalm*

Won't the Nexus 7 suck for updates because it runs Tegra 3 by Nvidia?

nope! its a nexus brand so it will get updates first since google is handling the code/updates directly. i assume google has the source for the kernel and of course resources/connections with nvidia. whereas lg just wants to sell more phones than update older ones (prev g2x owner).
thats why i love the pure google nexus phones

I hope Google does update it. The Nexus 7 looks nice and I'm gonna try for one at Christmas

Haven't the previous Google direct Galaxy phones been outdated rather quickly? Maybe not outdated, but left behind in terms of OTA's and things like that?
I mean, people will argue the galaxy s2 is a better phone than Nexus...and now the s3 just came out! For one (only one?) of the only devices to come pre-packaged with ICS, it seems to lack certain functionality and features that carrier specific phones have.

Someone give me an idea as to why the Music features are so bad on the Nexus?

If you bought it recently, Google is doing $50 refunds.

There is a dude I work with who has the Galaxy Nexus and loves it, in person the thing is beautiful...probably one of the nicest phones I've seen, well, besides the white Galaxy s2. I have a thing for phones that are all white, super clean looking, and I hate putting cases on my phones.
I baby my g2x, I have one of the LG branded ones that isn't directly related to a carrier. At my desk, that thing never sits on the direct surface, only on a stack of post-its, haha.
