where is the link to 10 cent apps? - Verizon Droid Charge

The market on my droid charge does not have a link to the 10 cent apps. I've been checking daily. I am running the latest version of gummy that I can find.
I see the link on all my other rooted android devices including my Droid and Nook Tablet.
Any suggestions?

Go to Menu->Applications and find the market and select it. Then clear it's cache and data which will force it to refresh completely the next time you open it.

the option to clear cache was greyed out. I pressed "Clear Data" instead, but that did not seem to help.
Is there another way to clear the cache?

market.android.com/details?id=apps_timed_promotion

Yes, as the dude above me pointed out, just go to the website. You can push apps to your phone from there and it will show the same $0.10 apps.
http://market.android.com
The giant square in the middle of the page is a link. click it.

It's probably because you're running a custom ROM. What that means to you is that the Market.apk is built into the ROM, so put simple, it can't be automatically updated AFAIK. You have to manually download the latest Market.apk and install it using a file manager like Astro/File Expert/Root Explorer. If it gives you an error that the application cannot be installed just use Titanium Backup to uninstall the current Market.apk, then try installing. If it still gives you the error just reboot and it will work.

Thanks for the info everyone.

My Google searches on where to download the market apk are getting me nowhere. I'll have to continue this after I get off work in the morning.

There are two links here
androidpolice.com/2011/11/01/download-android-market-3-3-11-adds-new-settings-default-auto-update-update-over-wi-fi-only-shortcuts-and-more/

You have to manually copy and paste the apk instead of "installing", but once I figured that out this worked perfectly, thanks!

[Q] Help! cannot install app from market

No problem go to market, search, browse and even download app(I can see the download progress bar was full of green), but once download finished, it shows installing, then takes forever.
Congnition 2.3b6, flashed several times, same problem.
Thanks in advance.
Did you try going to manage applications select the market and clear data? Make sure you do the data not just the cache.

Yes I did, still the same. Even delete and reinstall market app, had the same problem. Flashed back to 2.1, everything back to normal.

Market not downloading

Hey guys long time lurked, so here is my issue.
I was changing Rom, I had bamf remix 1.4, and I wanted to try another Rom. So backed up my current Rom through cwm, downloaded tesla coil 1.5 so I did wipe and installed tesla. Everything seemed fine, now this Rom does auto recover through Google, and I saw all my apps start to download after I put my account info, so I let it do its thing and it managed to get some apps installed. Then the rest of them just got stuck at "starting download", I've seen it do that before so I usually just cancel the download an try them later 1 by 1. So when I tried to load Rom manager it would go again to starting download but, then would get a notification saying, "Download Error, Download unsuccessful, please try again".
So that's what's going on, I restored my previous back up and it is still doing the same thing. I've wiped and cleared cache . Tried virus Rom and its the same thing . The only way I can get apps through the market is if I push it through a pc on a web browser.
I have searched already, and tried clearing data on market and download manager.

My phone is currently experiencing the same issue, only with all apps. I can download apps perfectly from the browser based market though. I've searched for a good six hours and I've tried everything that has been commonly suggested and nothing's worked.
Menu>settings>applications>manage applicctions > all tab > look For market> clear defaults, clear cache etc. Clear everything. Then try to download again in the marrket.
Well I think there was a fluke with Google or something, I wiped and flashed again and now its working again. When I was still investigating the problem, I used log cat to see what was going on, and the error was an apiexception and it had http 503 error, which I believe means the link is forbidden. This all happened when I flashed tesla Rom and it was auto restoring all my apps at the same time, and I think Google blocked my account or something because of too many download requests. Looks like the block was only for 24 hours. Sorry for rambling
But market is working again

[Q] Market reinstall fails

For some reason the Market did not download apps and updates anymore. All downloads simply failed ending up in paused downloads. I figured maybe a Market downgrade would fix this so I uninstalled the Market with Titanium Backup. After that I put Vending.apk (version 2.3.4) in /system/apps but for some reason the Market does not start. It doesn't show up in the app drawer either and simply clicking on vending.apk does nothing. Am I maybe missing a step here??
Maybe try with the one linked in the 2nd post on this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=896312
That is what I used since my chinese stock rom did not include a real Market.
Just put the zip on the root directory of your SD card and install it from the regular recovery (power ON + volume down).
Hope it works for you.
Both the stock recovery and clockworkmod report an error in the zip file. It's in the root of the sd card. It opens fine on the pc.
*edit*
It seems that this update.zip is specifically made for the ME525.
Out of despair I decided to flash another rom (Pays 5.1). But to my surprise the problem remains! This is horrible because now I can't reinstall most of my apps. Simple things like clearing the market cache has no effect. Why doesn't the Market work as it should?
*edit*
Also tried to download apps over the mobile network but same result. Seems the ISP isn't the problem.
Have you done all the wipe setp?
Check if Data Saver is enabled.
Well after having changed nothing at all the downloads started working normally again. After doing some more online research I noticed more people had similar problems, probably due to problems with google's servers. At least it wasn't my phone although it made me flash a new Rom resulting in a now undowngradable and warranty void phone. Oh well at least it works again. Nevertheless thanks for all the suggestions!

[Q] Lost Android Market!!

I have a Motorola Photon, and I had tried to get the old Market backet back with a process I found in the forum. It didn't work, and somewhere along the line I lost the Market all together. I tried wiping the phone back to factory and the Market app did not come back. I tried to just install a version from 4Shared, but still doesn't work with any version I install. It says that "com.android.vending has quit unexpectedly" and then it FC's. It only seems to do this when I go to download an app. I can browse and search fine with no problems, just no downloading!! I admit I'm a noob, and probably messed with something I shouldn't, but I figured this would be a nondestructive thing to learn on. Man was I wrong!! This sucks...please help me!!
Please use the Q&A Forum for questions Thanks

Yes...I was rooted but no custom rom. I don't know how to do that yet. This is going to sound stupid, but what exactly is a custom rom? After I wiped to factory condition I tried to install a vending.apk from 4shared and that still gives me same error. I will uninstall again and try a market.apk now. Is that the same as vending.apk?
A factory reset will only delete user data, it won't put back something that has been removed. You need to get the vending apk for the version you want and instead of installing it normally put it in /system/app. You can do so using Root Explorer or another root level file explorer. If you don't have one installed, I can post the apk of a free one for you. Mount system as r/w and copy/paste the apk into /system/app, then set permissions to rw-r--r--, then reboot. You should have your market back up & running.

That's what I originally tried to do and didn't work, but I will try it again...If you could post an apk of the market you know is good that would be great. Can u post an apk of a root explorer also? I havent checked 4shared yet. Is there another free download service other than 4shared? Thanks for your help!!
Just download Market and install it. If it FC then check the permissions.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1231290
(It's the new market btw. I know you don't want it, but you don't really have a choice at the moment)
Ok so this is weird!! I left the Market that wasn't working installed by mistake. I installed the OTA update that Motorola did, and then re-rooted my phone again. Now the Market is working for the most part!!! Only thing is...it FC's every time iot installs an app. It downloads and installs, but right after it installs it FC's!! It doesn't always close all the way...sometimes just goes to Market home screen. All the functionality seems to be working though, so I can deal with that.
Does anybody know why after the OTA update I can only get EDGE instead of 3G on a Rogers SIM card?
Did you clear Google Services Framework data and Market data?

[Q] Deleted Google Play

Hey there. I have been trying to resolve the "Package File Invalid", so one of the things i read here on xda said uninstall updates for the android market. I did this, and it installed Google Play completely. I tried flashing a package with the google play market version 3.4.6, but it force closes as soon as I open it. Can anyone help me? :3
I'm not sure if applicable in your circumstance but whenever I start having issues with force closes I reboot into CWM and clear my cache & Dalvik (under advanced) then "goback" & check reset permissions & reboot PHONE .....NOT Reboot Recovery. So far, it's worked like a champ every time for me.
When does it say "Package File Invalid" ?
may Reboot Recovery
It said Package File Invalid when I was downloading Draw Something Free. But thats not the point, I deleted Google Play off my phone and need to know how to get it back.
The point is that the invalid signature error usually comes from either having a broken/warezed/older version already installed, or the download corrupting.
So the signature from the update/download doesn't match what is already installed or has just been downloaded.
Your problem now is that you probably just removed the market but not the other apps it depends on on.
So either restore exactly the market version you removed or flash a new version plus the matching versions of its dependencies.
I've tried flashing both version 3.4.7 and 3.4.6, and they both force close as soon as I open them. Can you show me how to make it work, or tell me how to get it from stop force closing?
I would suggest a nandroid backup and a complete factory reset.. chuck on a custom (up to date (ics) rom) while your at it

Thats the exact reason I haven't yet. I have installed a custom rom and stuff already
I too am having the issue with all apps after 260 apps installed. I noticed that when I uninstall one app I can install a app that had said "package file invalid" two minutes earlier. Its weird.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using Tapatalk
I have had this problem before, the cause for me was that I was using g a DNS changer. Uninstalled it and that fixed it for me.
Sent from my XOOM using Tapatalk
I don't have a DNS changer installed. I'm using MIJJZ Blend 2.3 and everthing before 260 installed fine, but now I have to uninstall a app to install a app.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using Tapatalk
Then the only other thing I can think of is clearing data/cache as per http://www.thespicygadgematics.com/2011/12/fix-android-package-file-is-invalid.html
Sent from my XOOM using Tapatalk
I had tried that before. I've been bouncing between Darkstar 1.0.2 and Blend 2.*. I have experienced this issue on all Blend builds and never had the issue on Darkstar. Its weird the first time I had the "package file is invalid" error I was reinstalling my backedup apps. It happened ony on 3 apps(gosms, titanium backup, bunny shooter) and everything else installed fine. 2nd time gosms and titanium backup installed fine, but other apps wouldn't install. The funny thing about it is one of the first apps had the error, but I still installed 30+ apps after that. I've wied and reinstalled Blend 2.3 3 times and this last time I got every app reinstalled and even a few more before the error. I uninstalled one app and installed one app that had previously failed. So I tried uninstalling 3 big apps(angry birds trilligy) and still can't install a 588 kb app. I can't install a single app now. Debating on flashing stock kernel, but really don't want to loose cwm.
