Touch key lights on white skyrocket - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket SGH-I727

Does anyone with the white skyrocket have intense bleeding of light around the edges of the touch buttons? i had to turn the light off totally because it was so distracting. Can anyone with the black skyrocket tell me if this is a problem with theirs as well?

Yes, its same on my gf's skyrocket

Same on mine. Kind of sloppy but not a real deal breaker for me

I switched from the SGH-i777 to the SGH-i727, and I have noticed that the Skyrocket's touch buttons are a tad brighter. No "bleeding" around the edges, but definitely brighter.
If it bothers you, call for an exchange. I would. That's easily a manufacturing defect..

I guess no big deal. Just wondering if i should return and go with black

Around the edges of the icons or the glass? On my black skyrocket, I always thought the light around the edges of the icons were unusually bright, but it is part of the design. The samsung startup animation is supposed to mimic the bleed of intense blue light around the edges of the icons. You get used to it after about a week and it never catches your attention again.

not on the screen, on the buttons

I actually like it - gives it a bit of a glow IMO.

I have a white one and personally think it looks good.

The capacitive buttons...

... are they supposed to light up white? Cause mine are sort of a blueish periwinkle color. I don't mind, I like it honestly, but I was just wondering if that's normal or if my phone is just an odd duck.
I've had three units so far, all of them had the color you are taking about, which is in my opinion much better than white.
Now, check yours and see if they are evenly lit? Cause mines had a little uneven lighting across the four buttons.

mine are the same.. coming from my evo it was my first thought.. Havent seen any posts on this so i come to accept it.
Mine's bluish too.
Cool... I really like the color, it goes well with all my blue & purple clock skins, lol...
Mine look pretty evenly lit, the middle buttons are just barely dimmer than the others but almost imperceptibly so. It's probably just the position of the LEDs, I wouldn't sweat it unless it's really obvious.
same here, but not much dimmer, just a slight fade on the top left of the menu button...also, how many ppl were hoping that these buttons rotated with the screen as well, like the incredible S? :/ that would have been nice

Blueish light which is my favorite!
yeah, they are def not white. I do wish they would go completely black like the nexus S... It looks pretty nice when its all black when off.

Screen bleed so what!!!

All I hear is this forum is *****ing. And moaning, screen bleed is not a big issue I much rather have that than a deathgrip or dust beneath the screen what do u guys think you can't even see it unless your in cwm recovery, what do u guys think?

clown you wanna close this one too?
/facepalm written all over this...
I think someone posted that the bleed issue is fixable. There is a anti dust barrier /gasket around LCD that applies pressure to screen thereby causing some bleeding. If you remove the anti dust it relieves pressure and no more bleed. So i guess we can possibly conclude that the bleed is not due to a defective screen. If LG uses a thinner barrier strip it may rid the bleed and still keep the dust out. My bleed is minimal and does not bother me.

Is there a guide to this somewhere?
To the OP. Its an issue because its annoying. Also it doesnt just show up when your in CWM. If your running gingerbread it is visible all the time, especially when viewing dark apps or the picture gallary.

But the difference being, you don't need to remove a sticker to root.
I wouldn't want dust under my screen, deathgrip issues or screen bleed and I'm thankful that I have none of that on my G2X or Sensation. Although I would say the screen bleed on the G2X is much more wide spread than dust under the screen or deathgrip issues on the Sensation.
Have a good day.

I agree with the OP... so there's some screen bleed in a corner, not a huge deal for me. I did not even notice until I read the posts in this forum.
Yeah, if ppl wouldn't of pointed it out I wouldn't have known.

I've had five. Two had minimal bleeding and were virtually unnoticable (which includes my fifth). Two were noticable only when screen was black. One, my last one, was really bad. All the way across the top and it definately affected the overall picture quality. Washed out and darker whites. Seeing the difference between 4 and 5 side by side, I'm glad I exchanged the 4th.
My point is that the screen bleed on #4 really did affect the picture quality.
Imo it is a quality control issue that is unacceptable. It could have been prevented and it affects phones to varying degrees. This makes it a defect IMO that they should warranty. Especially if it is caused by that overlapping seal as implied in the disassembly thread here.
I disagree with the op on this.
This is a top of the line phone and the bleed is preventable and inconsistent. QA should have been better.

Purplish Display?

I have a Note 2 and a Nexus 5. When I first turned on my N5 I noticed something was up with the display (not the camera). Then when I put it side by side with my note 2 it was obvious that the N5 has a bad purple tint to the white screens.
My nexus 5 has a warm display, but not purplish. The whites have a slight reddish hue.
Mine is massively too warm, whites are yellow

Well thats good that the displays seem to at least be consistently off. Should be easier to rectify. Either way the display still looks gorgeous even though the colors are off a bit. Will look stunning once someone gets a kernel out there that allows us to properly calibrate the colors.
Mine is really brownish warm too with backlight bleeding in the corners. I'll take a picture next to my Nexus 4 when I get home.
In the meantime, could someone take a side by side picture of their Nexus 4/5 using a white background?
Thanks.

Screen Bleed and Suck Pixel...RMA?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VpGzXM1TcEg&feature=youtube_gdata_player
I've gotten a little worried about all the talk here regarding screen defects. Made a quick video to see what you think?
At the first boot I did notice a stuck pixel on upper edge of screen....greenish. Didn't think that would bother me much. Decided to get one of the test apps and take a look. Its hardly visible... Mostly on dark screens.
I did notice on the black screen some bleed light. Not sure if that is a little inevitable with LED screens. It changes a bit if u squeeze the bezel. Just not used to that coming from AMOLED Note. Blacks on this are way better but whites on Nexus are better.
Thanks.

Different screen manufacturers?

I noticed a weird difference between my m8 and my wife's. When I look at my screen wearing my sunglasses (polarized Maui Jim's) it looks fine. When I look at my wife's, it's virtually invisible. Rotate them both to landscape and mine still looks fine, and hers suddenly appears like magic. This is with the phones side by side in the same conditions... For what it's worth mine is the gunmetal and hers is the silver one.

Well that's just bizarre.
if you're really interested in how polarized glasses work and the effects, you can read http://www.lhup.edu/~dsimanek/14/polaroid.htm
The short and sweet is that polarized lenses block light from differnet angles. The glass on the phone is also likely polarized a bit, maybe not even on purpose. If the polarization in the glasses on your head is not in line with the polarization of the glass on the phone it will get darker or even appear blank. You should be able to tilt either the phone or your head and see the display come into focus. Only way not to have an issue is to switch to non-polarized glasses.
