[Q] How to flash Radio after ARHD 3.6.8 Custom ROM ? - HTC Sensation

Hi !
I have the ARHD 3.6.8 flashed on my Sensation.
There is a recommended radio for the custom ROM.
But in the guide it says phone must be ENG S-OFF & Radio S-OFF.
I know the phone is already S-OFF, but does the custom ROM also Radio S-OFF.
If not, how do i Radio S-OFF the sensation?

Nevermind guys. I just flashed the radio anyway and it worked !

Hey guys i was successful and i was able to install my 1st rom 3.6.8. I been trying to scheme through all the post and searching but can't seem to find an answer. It's says it's recommended to have the latest RIL 10.58.9035.00U_10.15.9035.02_2 radio on the 1st post. However it also says not to flash radio since the ROM includes the recommended RIL, basically just need clarification and from the search i found some say if the stock radio is working prperly than leave it alone, my version currently running is 10.56.9035.00U_10.14.9035.01 and i believe everything is working fine, haven't really tested, been at the house all weekend : ). So, my question is, should i have to flash radio to 10.58? I'm TMob US by the way....

If youre stock radio is working, leave it at that for a bit. I am currently running 4.1.8 ARHD with the 10.58 radio and it is working alright - I wouldnt say great. I did upgrade to the newest radio 11.59.3504.00U_11.16.3504.16 a couple days ago to try it out and it was absolutely horrible for where I live. I will be flashing 10.56.9035.00U_10.14.9035.01 today and testing that out to see if it works any better than 10.58 and I will let you know how it goes. I have TMO by the way.
Also, just a reminder when you want to flash a radio it is better to do it through ADB rather than the recovery you have. To do so:
> adb reboot bootloader
> fastboot flash radio radio.img
- radio removed
- new radio flashed
> fastboot reboot

Radio

Hey everyone, i am very new to this, and ive been looking for the stock radio that the phone brought since i am rooted and with rom Android Revolution HD™ 3.6 with recommended radio. But ever since i flashed the recommended radio, my phone has been slow, so i want to go back to stock. Since i read that the radio needs to be compatible with RIL files, i get confused and scared that i might brick my phone, so if anyone can link me to the radio with the RIL ill be very appreciated. Thanks, i am on TMOUS.

Hi,
As far as I know, the radio is not going to speed up/slow down your phone.
If you are worried about bricking your phone, you should not really be chopping and changing the radio.
Look at other areas, like apps, mods, kernels or even Sense that might be slowing things down.

flashed new radio

I recently flashed ARHD 3.6.9 for HTC Sensation 4G. I also flashed the recommended radio version, "10.58.9035.00U_10.15.9035.02_2," noted in the dev's thread. The odd thing that I am seeing is that when I checked the baseband version that I just installed, it lists it as 10.58.9035.00P_10.15.9035.02_2. Note the only difference is the P. Is this a problem? I don't know of a way to verify the version of the radio's image.
Not sure where I read it as it was a while ago, but no it doesn't matter, its the same. On a side note though when I first got my sensation I flashed the radio that was recommended and saw no change, flashed back to original and no change, now I don't bother flashing the radios as, at least for me I see no real benefit.

yea some wont see a change, but also check if the RIL matches your radio when flashing, sometimes that can be the issue when not seeing any change, i had to flash a new radio, and i realized when i flashed new radio for rom, the ril didt match so me flashing new radio was kinda pointless when i should have match the ril,
My RIL version is HTC-RIL 2.2.0173HMQ. How do I check if this matches with my new radio? Thanks
I have been noticing that some dev gives out the radio image while others give a PG58IMG.zip for the radio. I understand how to flash the radio with the radio image, but for the PG58IMG.zip, do I just put it into the root of my SDcard and reboot into HBoot like how I would S-off my phone? Thanks

T-Mobile sensation awful call quality

Hey guys, I just flashed the latest version or ARHD v3.6.9 and I have latest bricked kernel.
I'm still getting awful call quality when I'm taking to someone on the phone. Like static and strange background noise to a point where I can't hear the other person at all. Tried using the suggested radio then rolling back to 10.56 radio and still have problems. Could it possibly be because the person I was calling was on at&t? Any suggestions?
Running on a T-Mobile sensation with latest 3.6.9 and bricked kernel.
Anyon have suggestions?

How are your phone calls with other people (besides the one on AT&T)?
About radios, I am curious, where did you see the info on the suggested radio for T-Mobile? How did you flash your radio? Does a NANDROID backup save the radio also?
Thanks

It is under install instructions on the ROM thread. They suggest a 1.58. You can flash your radio by outing the .zip file on the root of your sdcard. When you boot into hotboot it automatically installs the package for you. No, a nandroid does not back up a radio, but it does not need to be backed up as it is separate from the android system. You keep the same radio even if you flash different ROM's.

Where did you see the actual recommendation for T-Mobile (which page)?
Are you making any progress on your call quality issues?
has it been doing this with teh insertcoin rom that i've flashed?
is your ril matched to the radio you're using? i haven't had these issues when I was using this phone.

Like I said you don't need to back up your radio it stays from ROM to ROM underneath the system. No progress yet...

yes. respond to my text or pm, please.
if you have have 10.56 radio make sure you also use the RIL 169, that's what i use and I'm tmoUSA as well w/ no problems
you can check the RIL you have by dl Terminal Emulator thru the market and then typing
su
getprop "gsm.version.ril-impl"
so 10.56 matches with ril .169!!!

Thank you. What ROM are you using? Because I just looked at the ril thread and apparently the 10.56/.169 radio/ril is for android 2.3.4 but I'm on IC which is 2.3.5. Does that matter because many have suggested to roll back or flash different radios..
9035.01 was the radio that was on it at all times (i've never flashed a different one). 169 is the matching ril. was it messing up when you first got it?
I'm using elegancia 2.3.5 Rom and using 10.56/ril 169.... I don't think it matters on the rom but folks do recommend u keep the same radio/ril u had originally...
Hope this helps

Older RIL on 4.0.4

Hi,
I have a Desire S, unlocked via HTCdev with IceColdSandwich installed on it. Almost everything is working fine, but I am experiencing signal losses quite often.
It seems likely to me that the combination of ICS and the radio ROM from GB (3822.10.08.04_M) is causing the issue. While I could flash a new radio ROM, I'd have to S-Off my phone first, which leaves with one other option:
Is it possible to flash the matching RIL for my radio on ICS? Would that possibly work?
If so, I would be grateful for any guidance on how to extract the RIL from the old RUU.

Any way to flash radio on 2.20 from ATT after unlock?

Hey guys, I was updated to the ATT 2.20 which I guess included the 1.14 hboot and have now rooted through the new technique with a custom rom. However I have found that the radio was not updated along with the rom and the radio thread states that I cannot update with the ATT 2.20. I personally do not care much but my problem is that my phone regularly reboots by itself in standby and it also freezes very often when someone calls in. I am pretty sure most my problems are related to the radio.
Is there any way to update the radio with the new hboot? If so could you please point me in the right direction? And I am running the Venom rom and flashed the kernel separately through fastboot.
My process was similar:
screwed up rooting on 1.85, forced into 2.20, rooted recently with new exploit.
except i chose cleanROM.
and i don't have any of those problems.

Can you not flash the radio through fastboot?
i personally like the radio that comes with 2.20. i flashed the 2.40 cm10 flashable and didn't notice a difference.
I also had a nasty problem with freezing/reboots when trying to answer incoming calls. Only way it wouldn't freeze was running stock software. I'm on 2.20 with 1.14 hboot. Every sense rom I tried caused the issue. Finally flashed over to CM10, a couple small issues but at least I can make and receive calls.
This is the first thread I've found where someone had the same issue as me, I swapped the first phone I got out for a new one thinking it was defective. :-\
