3G ro.ril speed tweaks - Samsung Galaxy Tab Plus

this is for the 3G version of 7+,
anyone have any tweaks? Im testing some ro.ril build.prop tweaks now seems to improve but not as steady as my dell streak 7. i could get 7-8MBps on AT&T on my dell streak 7 in Connecticut (no official LTE here yet, spotty HSPA/HSPA+). Will post when I confirm working.

welp, cant seem to get any stable repeateable results. the last few test I ran, ( I use speakeasy and speedtest.net), the meter starts and spikes up to about 6mpbs but something(throttle??) pulls it back to around 2-4 mbps.
but I did set a new personal best on AT&T with HSPA coverage. (NO 4G LTE in Hartford Connecticut.) 8.55 Mbps down! pretty impressive!
I will post what Im using if anyones interested. when I use *#*#INFO#*#* to set to WCDMA preffered network , it doesnt stick/accept it. and in APN settings has a IPv4/ipv6 option which didnt work at all, Im stuck on IPv4 in APN.

eHRPD & New York

For New York Tbolt owners, can you advise if your phone is working in eHRPD mode. Since the natiowide outage I have been on LTE and no matter what I try my phone doesn't show eHRPD.
Verizon said there are no network issues but I can't figure out what is wrong..

whats ehrpd?
It's the transitional network for CDMA to LTE. The bolt should have eHRPD instead of Rev-A for Mobile Network Type when using 3G. During the outage, eHRPD and LTE were out which is why people were able to manually set their phones to default to EVDO Rev-A and get 3G data back. The so called fix Verizon made was more of a bandaid fix that defaulted all phones to Rev-A without having to go into the settings. Believe eHRPD came back up sometime last week. Required a reboot for me to pick it back up.
i live on the upper east side. i'm running CM7. when my "Network Mode" is set to "CDMA + LTE / EvDo" my "Mobile network type" is listed as "LTE." when i'm on "CDMA / EvDo Auto" my mobile network type is "CDMA - EHRPD." don't know what all that stuff would be if you were running stock sense.
Nevermind, i think I just spaced out for a moment. When the phone is set to CDMA + LTE / EvDo auto it should show LTE under network settings, correct? but when it defaults to 3G it will show the eHRPD setting?
I hope thats it..
yeah, you should only see eHRPD when you're connected to 3G only.

Different version, same slow speeds.

eHRPD had been working fine for me for days in Maryland, but about 25 minutes ago, it died out again and has remained out.
I'm able to get EvDO Rev. A by disabling eHRPD (requires a phone reboot, grrr) but I can get neither EvDO nor LTE with eHRPD enabled. I can't even get 1x with eHRPD enabled, no matter whether I tell it CDMA PRL or LTE Only or the Auto selection.
Aside from that, LTE had been variously dropping out in the evening and through the night. For all of those dropouts until about 20 minutes ago, I could seamlessly switch to EvDO over eHRPD without losing my IP address allocation, and resume whatever I was doing. But with having to disable eHRPD now just to get any kind of data connection, we're back to 2006.
They seem to have no shortage of 10 - 45 minute outages of LTE and/or eHRPD after midnight; hardly seems like "America's Most Reliable Network" anymore. Maybe they're borrowing a page from landline Verizon's DSL service, which has an uptime of about 40 hours a week here.
Since the big outage, I'd been showing eHRPD as the mobile network type. Until this morning, that is. I had 3G/4G on the train from north Jersey but when I exited airplane mode upon emerging from the 14th St. PATH station, I was on 1X.

When I am on Rev A I average 500k down 800k up but on eHRPD I get 1.5 to 2 down and 1 up.
eHRPD has been back for me since about last week, I am in Pomona NY.
Work in Midtown and live on Upper East Side. I have the LTE radio turned off. I've been on the eHRPD network since it went back up... i think a week ago? Before that I was on Rev A.

CDMA and HSPA switching

I'm currently running eagles blood 2.3.5 custom rom and my data is wacky. Mostly my data will say 1x which is cdma technology, which I usually get decent speeds with. But now I get H appearing which is HSPA. Is there anyway to keep just the hspa. Apps like Netflix don't work on CDMA and its very annoying. So what's the deal? Is my data wacky or do I need to change my preferred network? It's currently set to WCDMA preferred.

I think you mean GSM, not CDMA.
Go to your Settings, Wireless Networks, Mobile Networks, Network Mode, and change it from GSM/WCDMA to WCDMA only. Now if you are anywhere where there is a 3G/4G signal, you will get it instead of the phone switching to a higher 2G signal automatically. However if you are in a 2G area, you will need to switch back to GSM/WCDMA.
no hes right its cdma technology, i think it might be simple, if u go into ur access point simple is probably checked off u need it to be tmobile and hit search networks even if it says error keep doing it until u get the option to choose tmobile , same thing was happening to me on fauxs rom lol i think verizon uses that too it looks like this rite....1X
Iwent into the access point settings and its checked off with T-Mobile. No dice, still switching back and forth. I also live in an aera that has hspa+. Its weird because on my old mytouch slide it was able to just use the hspa network no problem. With this switching its severely draining my battery. People said they can get 24hrs with there phone on this rom, I got 6 today. Thanks for the replies guys, I really appreciate it.
UPDATE: Wi-fi calling works fine which is confusing that I'm still getting 1x when my network settings are all set to t-mobile

So i downloaded Elixir and heres the deal:
Eaglesblood:
1X uses CDMA
E uses GSM
H uses HSPA
Stock:
2g uses GSM
4g uses HSDPA
is there anyway to fix the eaglesblood rom so it uses just the 2 like stock does?

Two HSPA connection issues

I'm having a couple issues with my data connection and was hoping someone could help. First, my phone keeps cycling between 3G (UMTS) and HSPA, even while I am actively using a data connection (installing an app, loading a webpage, etc...). Is that the proper behavior for the phone? I only started noticing it once I flashed AOKP (and now KingCobra 1x) but I assume that is because they both have stock 3G/H/4G icons instead of AT&T's 3G/4G/4GLTE icons. I understand that while idling the connection may move between UMTS and HSPA, but I assume that when downloading or loading a webpage it should stick to HSPA+.
Second, I am seeing very poor speeds no matter what radio I use. I performed a few speed tests outside with 5 bars of signal (-79db) on HSPA+ and the highest speed I saw was 3.0 mbps (average of 1-1.5 through my tests). My coworker with a Galaxy S III (AT&T as well) performed a speedtest in the same place and saw speeds of 6-7 mbps on HSPA+. We do not get LTE here (Philadelphia).
I have tried the AT&T 2.09 radio, 2.20 radio and the O2 2.29 radio and receive similar speeds on all of them. Does anyone have any suggestions of how to diagnose this issue? Thanks in advance.

I have the exact same issue, my phone cycles between UMTS and HSPA constantly which results in data not working for a bit when it switches.
Are you on AT&T? I'm on StraightTalk (using AT&T's network) using CleanRom 4.5, not sure whether this is a HW/ROM or network issue yet. Using 2.20 radio.

Yes, I'm on AT&T (not straighttalk, regular old AT&T). I'm currently using KingCobra but I had the same issue on AOKP. I was told that it's normal for it to switch between UMTS and HSPA, but it doesn't seem normal to do so when you're actually downloading something.

As long as it's not affecting your data it should be fine.
It affects my data though as my webpages don't really start loading until about 3 seconds after I press enter. It's not that the network is slow, it's that my phone literally doesn't start downloading data until 3 seconds after I press enter. When it starts downloading data the webpage loads up fast enough.

My phone was doing that with CR so I flashed the stock AT&T symbols and the AT&T 2.20 Radio. It doesn't show that it is switching anymore.
However the stock wifi tether doesn't work with the AT&T Icons, even with the mod.

Use Network Signal Info to see if it's still doing it. It might be and the AT&T symbol is just hiding it.
Mine will switch from UMTS to HSPA to HSPA+ constantly.

[Q] How to get 3G/4G with unlocked Blaze on AT&T

I bought one of these phones, rooted it, unlocked it, and installed CM9. I love the phone and OS, but I cannot get the 3G/4G to work on AT&T. Any ideas?
Yeah. The data network is incompatible. Different frequency.
Sent from my SGH-T769 using xda premium
Yeah I think all you can get is 2G (edge) on AT&T with the blaze.
I can say from first hand experience that the blaze works great with AT&T's 3g service. I bought this phone last week, unlocked it, and swapped in the sim from my old Aria and have been using it with CM10 ever since. Data speeds are around 3 to 6 Mb/s down and 1 Mb/s up, and voice and text messaging works fine.
For a more technical answer, AT&T uses the 850 mhz and 1900 mhz frequencies for UMTS (3g), and T-mobile uses 1700 mhz and 2100 mhz frequencies. The blaze supports UMTS on all of these frequencies so there are no technical roadblocks to using this phone with AT&T. http://www.phonearena.com/phones/Samsung-Galaxy-S-Blaze-4G_id6824
As for your problem of not getting 3g working, I had similar issues when first switching the sim card (especially on the stock rom). Check that your APN matches the one your old phone was using. On the stock rom, the phone did not auto detect the correct APN and this caused the 3g to not work. CM10 detected the correct APN right away though. Also, try turning data off and on or even rebooting the phone once you've checked your network settings.
I sold my other phone and no longer have it. Please confirm your APN settings, and how do I change them?
The blaze has all the frequencies necessary for it to do HSPA (3G/4G) on AT&T's networks.
You'll likely want to change the APN. On CM9/10, go to Settings -> Wireless & Networks + More... -> Mobile Network Settings -> Access Point Names.
I was careful in selecting this specific phone because of its compatibility with AT&T HSPA bands. I have tried the suggested tweaks to the APN settings within both CM9 and CM10, but I still get no visual notification that the phone is operating in 3G or 4G mode. The areas in which I have used the phone consistently provided 3G and/or 4G coverage consistently with my prior BlackBerry 9860.
Any additional tips/tricks would certainly be appreciated. I know this phone is capable of so much more than it's providing me at this point.

have you tried running a speed test to see if maybe it's just that the icon isn't coming up?
That is why it was called the "Merger Proof Phone"

[Q] Moto G HSPA+ ATT speeds

Hey, I have a Moto G (XT1032) international version. I was wondering how everyone's data speeds were, I am using the "phone" apn and where I live (IL, US) I get 0.1-3mbps. I don't think im getting the speeds i should be getting on ATT's HSPA+ network. I've heard of the enhanced backhaul and how it increases speeds but I don't really know anything about it. Any suggestions?

Download Phone Testing by Diewland in Playstore and set preferred network to "WCDMA ONLY" this will keep it on 3G. I assume its on 2g hence the slow dataspeeds.

Thanks serophia, I ran a speed test right after that and I got 3mbps download, which is much better then what I was getting but I was looking for the 5-6mbps that other people get on their hspa+ smartphones
