HTC Radar vs Mozart - Windows Phone 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all,
I wonder at buying a WP7 phone and have these two devices on mind. HTC Radar is twice as expensive as the second. But I saw the WP Bench benchmark that showed that Radar is about 35% more powerful, it scored above 80pts vs Mozart's 60pts. At this time it does not matter, but in few months for sure there will be more requiring games and applications which Mozart wolud not handle with. But this is only my opinion. Radar also has a larger battery that lasts I think a day longer without charging. I don't know what phones will be avaliable next year so I'm undecided whether I should buy Radar and use it longer or Mozart and wait for some newer phones.
Thanks for answering

If you don't want to wait for a newer phone (a.k.a one of the Nokia Lumia series), then the radar is a good choice. It is faster than the Mozart like you said and will open and run apps a bit faster. Radar does have better graphics (adreno 200 in Mozart vs adreno 205 in Radar). Mozart has 64mb more ram, but that isn't too much a difference.
However, if you like photography, I think the Mozart's camera may be a bit better with more megapixels (although doesn't necessarily mean better) and xenon flash. The xenon flash is better than the Radar's LED for low light shots.
I own the Radar, but never the Mozart. I personally really like the Radar; it looks fly!
Hope this helps.

I personally have the mozart and have been asking myself as well wihich phone to purchase,
I decided to go with the mozart since it has a higher camera rating and the xenon flash, not only that, for its price its one of the most affordable windows phone but not compromising the quality

[Q] due for upgrade, device recommendations?

So in due for an upgrade in November 2011 and I wanted to know which phones the good people of XDA would recommend. I currently have a HTC HD2 running Windows Phone 7 Mango. I would like to stick with WP7 but other than that I think I have fairly standard requirements. Only thing I would specify is that it must have a fairly large screen, similar to the HD2. Oh, and it must be available in the UK!! Either unlocked or on T-Mobile. I'm happy to wait if a good phone is being released later this year or next. Been keeping an eye on the upcoming Nokia WP7 devices So have a contender there, I also like the galaxy s 2 anything else I should consider?
You have 3 options:
- HTC Titan (4.7'' LCD screen but very good LCD, 1.5 GHz cpu, mini-HDMI output, 1600 mAh, 8Mpxl f/2.2 lens), already in the UK market, pop to a phones4u shop, maybe you can catch a glimpse of it. Here is an unboxing vid http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gPWNFn62vV8&feature=player_embedded
- Nokia Ace (4.3'' AmoLED, 1.4 GHz, 1800 mAh, 8Mpxl carl Zeiss)
- Samsung Focus S (4.3'' Super AmoLED Plus, rest specs unknown)
There isn't a definite release date for the latter two, but till November they will have been at least announced. But HTC Titan seems already a winner as it has the bigger screen of all WP7 devices (if that's not a problem), it bears the beefiest cpu (although 1.5 vs 1.4 Ghz won't make any difference), and the quality of the LCD is as good as an LCD gets (but slightly inferior to AmoLED offerings). And its camera quality, a field HTC has been notoriously failing at, seems quite decent (camera sample http://www.phonearena.com/news/First-camera-samples-from-the-HTC-Titan_id21748)
Can't recommend the HTC Titan enough! Picked up mine today from Phones4U and really loving it as a device..the screen size is definitely weird for me (coming from an iPhone 4), but fits perfectly in my giant european hands
It's a bargain on the deals they have at the moment too..free if you spend £30 a month, and if you spend a bit more they chuck in various extras too..my first good experience with P4U..crazy!
Only downside is that they are not available on 02, and when I spoke to retentions they told me that it's not on their list of upcoming devices..lots of android ones for them but no titan. I ended up jumping ship to Orange..not the best of the bunch but works out cheaper than my old 02 contract and with more minutes
HTC titan is looking good, im a little unsure of the LCD screen and how it will look in 2 years (i would be on a 2 year contract) compared to amoled. the nokia ace looks good, i just hope that the camera quality is as good as my old n95 was

[Q] Which Windows Phone should I get?

I am looking to get an unlocked Windows Phone, so I need a suggestion on which one and where.
Price - around $350 USD
Form Factor - full touchscreen 4" or less
Camera - I want good camera optics. MP does not matter, just quality
Nothing else really matters (internal storage). AMOLED is nice and a FFC would be cool but not necessary.
The HTC Radar seems to be in my price range. Is this a good option? Best place to buy?
I recommend the Samsung Omnia W (known as Samsung Focus Flash in the US).
It has a faster processor than the HTC Radar.
Don't get htc hd7

The problem is the price. Only available place I am seeing is ebay for $450 USD. For that price I would just spend the extra money and get the Lumia 800. The Focus Flash I am seeing for $300 but I am assuming they are going to be locked to ATT. Easy to get them unlocked?
I wouldn't mind the Focus Flash.

Well, in that case, you should buy the HTC Radar.
My friend has the Radar and she's happy with it.
I have the Samsung Omnia7 and am preaty happy with it.
Just today I managed to get wifi data tethering working. Which I think is a nice feature to have

I have the Trophy, and it works for me, its has no ffc, the glass isnt the most durable one i had in terms of scratch resistance, the battery lasts about two days with wifi and data connection on.. i think the teethering option might be unavailable to some updates tho, not sure on that one..
Thinking of changing my Lumia 800 to some newer windows phone , but I cannot see any other newer windows phone other than Lumia 900 and Titan II. Is there any other newer windows phone on the way? otherwise which one is better among Lumia 900 and Titan II?
cheers....
The Lumia 900 is to be honest a nice phone but lacks the charm of the slightly smaller 800 with its curved glass etc, Screen size is great @ 4.3" and displays as nicely as the 800, It is of course heavier and have noticed slight lag once in a while on main screens whilst scrolling, This never occured on the 800, I am awaiting a Titan 2 so if it turns up soon will update as to whether its as good as the lumia 900 or not, Both have FFC which I missed on the 800 and the Titan has a slightly larger screen @ 4.7" but SLCD compared to Lumias AMOLED, The 900 came pre-installed with Tango 8773 update but tbh haven't noticed much of a difference as yet, All it really boils down to is do you prefer the square sharp angular edges of the Lumia or rounded almost boring looking HTC which all look alike, Performance wise there probably wont be much difference.
Thanks and I'll also wait for Titan 2 as well. cheers...
I've upgraded at Phones4U and got free Lumia 900 black. good deal

Has battery life on WP7 improved?

I've owned at least 2 WP7 devices very briefly, the 2 being the HD7 and the DVP before Mango rolled around. I actually had the HD7 around the WP7 launch and the DVP sometime after NoDo was pushed out but while Mango beta was out for testing. I always found that my experiences with daily use were abysmal. I like the platform but I can't tolerate the excessive battery drain that I experienced. Even on my HD2 which ran WP7 fine, it just doesn't make very efficient use of the battery unlike well cooked Android roms(HyperDroid for example).
If I were to get a new WP7 device or pick up the DVP again(249.99 is pretty good for a DVP), would I likely run into the same problems?
I would suggest getting a 2nd generation Windows Phone. 2nd generation Windows Phones use the Snapdragon S2 processor which is more energy efficient than the Snapdragon used in 1st generation devices and HTC HD2.
Does that pretty much include any WP7 handset that uses a Qualcomm clocked higher than 1Ghz?

Yes, right now all Windows Phones with a Qualcomm CPU clocked higher than 1Ghz are S2 processors.
I want to note that the HTC HD7 has the WORST battery life of any Windows Phone. This is because of the big screen and tiny battery.
And Mango has the battery savor mode that can be turned on when you are low on battery.

exchange trophy for lumia

I have and oportunity to exchange my HTC 7 Trophy for a Nokia Lumia 800 plus 45€.
I still have 13 months guarantee for my trophy, but the Nokia doesn't have any, but it is in very good shape.
My question is, should i do the exchange? Is it worth it?
The first-gen phones, like the Trophy, are currently much more hack-able. If you want to do things like custom ROMs or high-privilege apps, you should currently stick with the HTC phone (hopefully we'll have support for Nokia soon, but it hasn't happened yet).
On the other hand, the Lumia 800 is a much nicer phone in most other ways - better CPU, supports more bands and (I believe) higher data rates if available, may have more internal storage, certainly has a better camera (and a front-facing camera, nice for Skype and such). If you just want the best WP7 device, trading up to the Lumia (which is a more expensive device to begin with) and getting an extra 45 Euros is a great deal.

microsoft 950xl review .???

will anyone give me 950xl review????is it worth to buy or not??
I held this phone for 1-2 hours and that's what I'm gonna say:
It is beast. This is the first Lumia smartphone that I liked so much. OS itself (Windows 10 Mobile) has less bugs than on any other Lumia smartphones and it will get even better when Microsoft will release final version of Windows 10 Mobile. The phone's hardware is absolutely in top of the line and to be honest, unlike Android - Windows doesn't need that. Lumia runs on ecosystem where RAM management is amazing. Even budget Lumia smartphones runs smooth and 512MB RAM models can handle games like Asphalt 8 and other. I also tested camera and it is the best came on phone that I have ever seen. It has RGB flash and optical image stabilization as well.
Conclusion: Phone is great. Software is user-friendly and it's getting better and better on every update. I would definitely recommend this phone. But it has one flaw: material used for body is polycarbonate.
but i think price range is very high in my opinion...what do you say??
