Font Size

Are there any people also annoyed like me by the large default fontsize ?
I was used to Tytn small font in email, now the smallest setting on Vox is normal, which is too large for me.
Any solution or registry change possible for this ?

Hi dacoon. Thanks for this hint. I was searching for this for long time. Is it possible to tune this way also list of messages in inbox? There is only 5, resp.4 messages per page and too big font for me.

I used Total Commander.

You can also transfer the css via Active Sync to the PC. Then remove the write protection and edit the file. Then save it to a different folder and copy it back to the device. That worked fine for me.

How did you get Total Commander to let you do this? I've been trying and had no luck so far. I've copied the file to a different directory on the phone and the PC, but I'm not having any luck overwriting the original file.
This is on the Cavalier though, but it shouldn't be any different.
Any help would be appreciated

Hi, In Total Commander you can switch into 2 window mode. You can copy and overwrite the css files from one windows to another. Similar as on PC.

Thanks, but I've tried that.
* I have the new CSS on my memory card.
* Have teh second window set to \Windows
* Select the new css file and go file-copy
* the "copy/move " window comes up and I hit OK
* conirmation window "overwrite: \windows\... with \storage card\..." and I hit "Overwrite"
* "Confirm" windows pops up saying "Cannot ccopy or move file!"
Is there anything I should have done first?

Do you have your Mail application switched off? Look at Task manager. Or turn Off/On phone and try it to copy again.

I've tried that, and still no go. So I need to make some security change?

This font hacks look great. Does anyone know how to shrink the fonts being used in the message list view and the folder lists? I find I can only see 4 message headers at a time on Wm6 / Q9.. Horrible use of space. Same with folders list, font is massive. I'm assuming it is one of the dozens of .css files in that windows directory.

Hi - I edited the compose style and now the new message fonts look good to. Still can't figure out how to get the message list to tighten up. Argghh.. So useless with 4 messages at a time when you can easily get 6-7 with tightening up that screen.

[SOLVED] Updated ROM, can't see ring tones?

Against me better judgment, I updated to the latest official AT&T ROM on my Fuze and now, for some reason, I can no longer use my custom ring tone. In the attached file, I have two files. "Team Fortress 2" is the ring tone I was using prior to updating my ROM and "TheMonstersWithout" was the song I was using for new messages. On the official ROM I'm using, I can see both as choices for new text messages, but "TheMonstersWithout" is the only on I can set as a ring tone.
Can someone tell me why I can't set the TF2 file as a ring tone? They're both in the same folder (\application data\sounds) that I used prior to updating and didn't have any problems.
Also, the Opera Mobile icon in the new ROM isn't the nice transparent "O" that was in the original ROM. Anyone know where that icon file is so I can set it back?

Evidently, there's either a size limit or length limit on a ring tone. I trimmed the TF2 mp3 down to 10 seconds and it suddenly works... If anyone knows where you can set the limit size, I'd appreciate it.

Um... Forgot the file...

actually the reason you couldn't use your own tf2 ringtone is because the sound limit was reduced in the registry. Do a search on the term "updated fuze rom" I have posted the way to change this. Also don't forget you need total commander or a file explorer similar to it to work the registry.

I wasn't able to find the post you're referring to, mputtr. I did, however, find the solution in the Kaiser forums in this post. I'm quoting it here in case someone happens across this post searching for the same problem.

also, deleting themp3 is not usually a good idea because it'll count every single sound file. by adding 2 zeros will allow you to limit how many of the mp3s you will put in there so you dont get full songs and the like in there that you don't need.

Well, only if you keep every one of your song files in one of the few folders the system scans for ring tones. But if you're THAT bad at file management, you have bigger problems.

it's only as a good measure of precautions. Besides, I don't know what programs install in which folder, but in the end, it's always a good precaution.

I don't know for sure, but I doubt it .That ★ is pretty special.
What you could do as a workaround:
1) keep the symbol somewhere convenient (e-mail, webpage or MS Office document stored on phone)
2) copy-paste it for each site you're trying to log in to.
3) tell Opera to save the username/password
Better than nothing, I guess...

Only after pasting, or is the one you're trying to copy also being displayed like that?
If the original is also displayed as a rectangle, most likely the ★ is not present in any of the default fonts. You could try addin an extra font that contains the character somewhere on your HD2 and using font linking.
I have no idea where to look for a solution if the original ★ is displayed fine, but is just not pasted correctly though.

Ahh thanks MG, but do you know of anywhere were its pre cabbed? I did a search for webdings font for windows mobile, nothing came up and then I looked into installing fonts to Wm and I would rather not have to go through all this

Just copy font from computer and past it to your windows mobile font folder. It is the same font.

Just copy the file from the font folder in your computer to your device, and then move it to \Windows using Total Commander or Resco.
Another possible solution - try to log in using this as your username:

Download attached font below (you can get it from your computer) and past it to your Windows Mobile: Windows/Fonts using file explorer such as Resco explorer.

That's the HTML code for the star. I doubt that will work as it won't be decoded from HTML before the login process takes place.
Just one thing that comes to mind - when you copied and pasted it and got the rectangle in the login box, did you actually try to log in? I assume you did, but I only ask because it shouldn't matter whether you have the font or not - you just want the correct character. The font is only for visual purposes, but software will still read the character as exactly what it is, regardless of what it looks like.

I didint try it but maybe its the solution you are looking for.
1.Install finger keyboard and MyMobiler.
2. Connect your phone to your pc using active sync. My Mobilers should start and you can control your phone from your pc.
3. Open Finger Keyboard's config screen and at the shortcut tab chose one and rename it (lg for example).
4. Copy the star symbol from your pc into My Mobiler, in the value field of the shortcut.
5. Apply the changes to the finger keyboard, disconnect your phone and try using it.
Shortcuts in finger keyboard are activated by a long press of a button.
Let me know if it works.

How do i create them??
Cant find anywhere that shows us who to use the updates

Need to edit an mp3 (and wma i think) file to be less than 30 seconds and set its category (in zune or file properties) to "Ringtone". Sync. Mission Accomplished.

Also, they should be nonprotected. Try using audacity (plus the LAME plugin for mp3 exporting).

By the way, I use several phones and for that reason I need to use 3 Sweden for my smartphone, just so you know. AND to answer myself. Use a meta tagger editor to change the genre field to RINGTONE, that is the trick.

I've done 2 now and they work fine.
After you've trimmed and converted your file, add it to zune then edit the file and delete the genre and type ringtone.

You don't have to choose from the list in Zune. Just type it in. The list is just a common set of genres, nothing more. -_-'

Custom ringtones are only for contact phone calls.

So we have to stick with the 10 anoying ones that came in the mango.
I think i will buy another phone with other OS.

I believe there is a hack or someone is working on a hack to let you use custom alert tones. Try doing a search, and you'll find something.
But otherwise yes, by default, ringtones can only be customized for phone calls.

No, thats just stupid. I'll explain it. This is too easy and yall are making it complicated. I use Microsoft Expression Encoder 4 to adjust my ring tones to the appropriate size. Just make sure you set it as a WMA file when you encode. As far as Zune goes, no, "ringtone" is not in the drop down list, so you actually have to TYPE it the first time. After that it STAYS in your drop down list. YES it works, I've got 20 custom ring tones on my LG Quantum right now using this method. I lost all my custom ringtones when I updated to 7720. You can also generally get the right file size and type from http://audiko.net/ you can download your ring tones for free, sync them to Zune then sync them to your phone. BEAR IN MIND IF IT IS OVER 39 SECONDS IT WILL NOT COME UP ON YOUR RINGTONE LIST ON YOUR DEVICE, SO U MAY NEED TO DOUBLE CHECK IT AND USE THE EDITOR. Oh, and NO. WE CAN STILL NOT MMS audio or video or set custom tones... ive been trying to figure out how to do that for months... still have not been able to find a hack. I figured out how, but it seems that part of the OS is read only... so I can not seem to over right it with my own tones... Why? **** if I know... ask MS.

Windows Shell Ext. For Apk's?

Looking for a simple small windows program that will simply show correct icons for .apk's on my PC
I set a default .ico for all my apk's but something showing the correct .ico for apk's would be great.

Not anymore, i might have a solution for you
first get the image you want to use as an icon and resize it to be EXACTLY 256x256 and in .ico format
then click run in start menu and type regedit
allow UAC if needed
make backup of registry
if you want to just change the icon to know what it is, go to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.apk
if it isnt there, right click on the folder and create new key called .apk
check if the (default) entry is blank, if so, then create a new key in the same place as .apk and call it something.Assoc.APK (not tested)
in the new key, create a key called DefaultIcon, and in that create a REG_EXPAND_SZ and put the full path in quotes of the .ico file
tell me if it doesnt work and include screenshots

Thanks for the reply...whats I actually ended up doing is making an .ico of a droid and basically setting the file extension within windows to use that ico with any apk...thanks for the info above though
