hi there guys!
im just new here.
here's a quick story
there was an accident with my wife's family and i went to the hospital to check her mom out. i went there with my battery so low and i went to a computer shop to have my phone connected via USB... i saw the thunder sign on my phone and left it above the CPU. i watched some videos of andrea mattia online and after 2-3 videos i checked my phone if my wife messaged me or something i was so shocked that my phone was as hot as an oven hot pizza.
now i've been trying to charge it using every charger that i have....
1st - galaxy sl orig charger
2nd was my BB torch's charger
3rd was my wife's xperia charger...
4th xperia USB
5th BB USB
all no use...
am gonna try and have samsung check it for me tonight or 1st thing tom... and see what happens... if any of you know how to fix this problem thanks so much! i'm really tired and might have a hard time to go to the mall and have them check it... i wanna use it right away... but if this is the 1st time you've encountered this it's also fine... i'll be back in like 3 hours... i'll just check my mom in law again... i have my BB with me so i'll just try to use the hard to navigate phone again.
thanks!
your answer will be in Q&A. go there.
Try the htc charger as well

Why do you want to bump an old thread? Jobless?
right ....your 9003 was in danger
But what was the matter in the end? It was putting the phone above the CPU?
It is the fact that he charged his phone via USB?
The answer to these questions would be very useful when it comes to not doing the same!!
unfortunately, OP only asked and never returned, and hasn't been back in almost 2 months, lol

Hi everyone.
Last night I went to bed and as usual I check my Nexus S battery.
It indicated me very low battery, and turn it off.
So far, no problem, i thought, well there isn't enough battery to turn on the phone. I connected the cellphone to the wall charger and went to sleep.
Today i woke up and try it to turn it on, the screens just flashes and nothing happens.... Removed battery, try it again, the same.
Try 100 times that, and there was one time a Warning of Bootloader came up. Don't know what i did different thought, but now i can't get the same result.
Actually now the screen doesn't even flashes when i press the power button.
The battery seems to be charged, i tested with a LED. My wall charger is also working cause it's able to charge my old phone.
And now to get things even worse, as i bought it in asia, i don't have warranty, and the gran finale, Nexus S is not been sold in Brazil due to some regulatory issues, so Samsung said it they can't help me with an imported product.
The Cellphone is brand new, doesn't have not even ONE month of use.
It's not rotted, and it was in the latest android firm.
Does anyone have any idea what can i do????
The phone doesn't respond to anything .
Tnks a lot in advance.
PROBLEM SOLVED!!! SEE THE LAST THREAD. BR!

Is it showing full bars when you connect the charger and press the volume button?
dude, i think there is something wrong with our country. take a look at this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1111761
i think you tried everything possible, can't see what else you could do. Looks like a hardware issue..
if i were you, i'd claim for warranty, even if you bought in hk, it has warranty, of course you will lose shipping cost, but, it's better than lose the phone! =o]
good luck!
GchildT: Nothing happens when i connect the charger to the cellphone.
Already tried the hard reset (volumn up + power button) nothing happens
thiagodark: Tell me about it, i read this thread ealier this morning, actually i send it a private message asking him if he solve his problem... samsung is really disappoint me.
The thing i found most said is that the phone is bran new! Not a month year old.
And i didn't do anything, not even rotted, dropped, anything!
PROBLEM SOOOOOOOOOOOLVED!!!
The problem was that there was a little tiny piece of plastic dirt in the usb male plug in the phone! And that piece was able to make a faulty contact with the charger, the phone battery was dead as hell.
Can you believe that?????
I almost sent my phone across the world in order to use the warranty.
Now I'm back with my cellphone up , happy as hell!
Tnks a lot, and remenber to always clean everything before use more drastic measures.

So.. that should be happen much early...
So, now mine phone stoped to boot, no battery power, after using a frog charger- still low battery.
Looks line phone fried =(
So, i think i will stop to support all roms... Cause i can't test it anymore...
I will make 2-3 correction builds that ics can start.
And.. i think this will be end...
(Will take samsung infuse 4g for dev or i will buy new phone for my wife and take her razr...)
Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
Maybe just your battery died?
I hope so, will try use another.. but mine frog charger charged mine battery about 3 hours.
And showing it full power...
And yesterday i was charging mine phone in place with bad power system...
I can't seem to find it from my phone, but epsylon3 had a thread/post about how he made a factory cable that will power his defy without a battery. I think he was working from instructions for an to an atrix one.
I wouldn't rule out a battery problem though... I mean you did freeze it... I'm meditating and attempting to channel good happy thoughts at your phone...

False alarm, friend of mine get it fixed.
Youp, contacts on mainboard and battery was melted... now it fixed.
Praise the Lord! I hope mine stays out of hardware trouble. Dropped it like 4 times now and I don't send devices abroad for fixing and I would be too much afraid to try fix it (even a few dry solder joints)
Glad to know that... but it is weird that the contact melted. Any clue?
Ok guys i have helped a lot of you out there but i need help this time.
Few days ago i accidently dropped my phone down but nothing happened that time.
Next day everything was fine until the day after when my phone suddenly switched off.i switched it on but after few minutes it became off again.then i tried to switch it on but nothing happened.
i tried removing battery and charging again but nothing happened.
but one strange thing was my battery was getting hot even when the phone was off.
i thought smth is wrong with battery and i bought a new one but nothing happened.
no download mode no recovery nothing....i mean nothing..........
So know i dont know whats wrong and its not even in warranty as i dont have bill and other things.
i went to a local shop but they said give it to us a we will find the problem but i am scared that there may be only minute problem for which they will charge like rs.500 to rs.1500 and may still not fix it.so i dont trust them.
so pls. help by telling me what could have happened and has this happened to anyone else??
and yeah i have not flashed clockwork mod.....i had chocobread 3.2........
maybe the battery leaked inside the phone and thats why it wouldnt on
thats why the battery was hot due to the chemical reactions taking place inside the battery.
try putting the new battery in and charging it for like 10 min and then on and see if it works.
try shaking the phone also to see if any part inside the phone is lose or broken
last option is give it for repair
PS: if u do know a lot about ur phone hardware try opening it and see whats wrong inside even though i got no idea what will happen coz ive never tried
best of luck
may be the screens cable broken..
It looks something that samsung care can fix...be ready to shell out some cash...
I would advise against unofficial service, atleast for smartphones...

Well its really f***in trouble man...
I'm guessing that your phones hardware are down, because of the impact... maybe the display flexible or the power supply that's going bad and that's why you're phone can't turned on again..
Battery shouldn't be problem, coz it charge and getting hot...
My advise is just go and repair it to the Samsung Service Center..
Just my little opinion..

Thanks guys but how much expense can I expect like from just damaged power supply to damaged chips?
I don't want to spend much as I am looking to buy s3 very soon.

My friend which is a phone technician told me that your problem is the IC Power (power supply)..
Just replace it with the new one ...
I'll guest its about 5 to 10 USD..
Sent from my Galaxy Fit
It should not cost too much. While i doubt that it would have anything to do with the battery (as ive dropped my phone several times over the past one yr ) id agree that you take it to the samsung service ctr. It may cost a little, but the fit is worth every penny

It seems the Power IC, however check the pins that connect battery with motherboard.
Hi guys.. I was loving my phone until yesterday... I was on ics and the phone was super smooth..
Then my stupid cousin poured water oñ me..
Since then the touch has become very unresponsive.. I have to press many times just to type a small word..
Also, the phone randomly shows charging when it isn't çonnected to the charger!!!! Please help guys..

I think it is H/W issues better to take it Samsung Service Center.....
This is an hardware issue has happened with me. Your usb port must have gone faulty. When my usb port had water in it had to be changed and they charged me 2000rs for it they will have to change the entire usb component of otherwise the touch of your phone won't respond to correctly!!!
Sent from my GT-I9103 using xda app-developers app
OK...but here's the funny bit... when I blow into the charging port (made sure I was only blowing dry air) the touch becomes as responsive as it was initially.. then returns back to its sad state in a couple of mins..
Screen shot attached shows it working fine after blowing..
I don't have a spare phone so giving it to ssc will be my last option..
Sent from my Galaxy R
Use hairdryer and blow hot air in usb port. It should solve ur issue.
Don't blow for long time it may make ur port very hot and can damage ur hw.

He said blowing DRY AIR, he didn't memtioned it was hot air which can vaporize wetness.

Thanks for the suggestion guys, but the hair dryer just isn't doing the trick...
Anymore tips guys? Should I try opening the phone? Would ssc know?

why are you taking so much pain ??
if ur phone is covered under warranty then let the ssc people do it..
but if u want to experiment, you are free to do so...!!
Okay... a friend suggested I keep my phone over night in a jar of rice to absorb the moisture.. if it doesn't work then I'm off to ssc tmr.. I won't open it up..
Thanks for the help everyone..
Btw: surprisingly, it works fine when on charging.. I'm really clueless to the cause of the issue..
Sent from my Galaxy R
If water has gone inside then ssc will come to know because there is a waste strip inside which detects inrush of water inside the phone. If they are charging you high for the same then u can always try by yourself but be careful.
Its a common trouble with galaxy r....i experienced a similar one and just gave to ssc they solved in 2 days they changed whole lcd screen and charging port and didn't charge anything....just dnt tell them abt water and other stuff and get back to GB before giving to ssc

ok buddies.. i finally gave my phone to the ssc today, they said it could take up to 2 weeks to repair. They were unable to turn on my phone as well and were unable to diagnose the problem.. i hope i'll get my beloved phone back soon..
i'll update to let you all know what went wrong..
I just hard bricked my second GS3. I bricked the first one a couple of months ago (the day I got it) when used a cheap OTG cable to attach a flash drive to the phone. The phone just shut down. No charge light ever, no response to usb, just nothing.
When I got my second phone, I took a deep breath and tried the OTG cable again and it worked fine. I thought I just got a bad phone.
But today, on a whim, I wanted to see if my phone would run an external USB cd drive. BAM, the phone shuts down and is hard bricked again!!
So, I guess this is a cautionary tale, as well a plea to the community for any recommendations. Someone had a similar problem months ago, but I didn't see a resolution. I will probably end up sending it for JTAG repair, but I don't know if it will do any good since this wasn't caused by borking a ROM install. Anybody have any experience with this?
One thing is for sure. That OTG cable is going in the trash.
I have never heard of this. Very interesting. Sorry to hear this for you. I have been using my cable for awhile now and only ever had one problem with it. I was viewing pictures and looked away from the phone for a few moments. Phone went into sleep mode like normal. Dull screen then screen off. Prob was it wouldnt wake up. Nothin i did woke it up so i had to do a battery pull. Phone was fine after that and havent had the problem since. Gonna keep fingers crossed after reading the OP.

Yeah, it is a real pain. I found some other people who had the same issue.
http://rootzwiki.com/topic/32816-sgs-3-and-otg-usb-adapter-might-equal-brick/
I just can't imagine what must be happening. I wish one of those uber-smart hackers who were working on the bootloader unlock would see this and give me some idea if it is even fixable. It is almost like it blew a fuse.
Anyway, I have an email out to mobiletechvideos to see if they think it can be jtag-ed. I have a feeling that a $2 cable is going to end up costing me $600.
----- Update -----
I made and tried a usb jig, just for kicks. No luck. Still waiting to see if mobiletechvideos gets back to me.
Another quick follow-up... I got a response from mobiletechvideos.
Unfortunately that has been damaging many people’s phones. It damages the PMIC and the device is not repairable by any of our services or any other shop that I know of.

If you are too lazy to google PMIC, it is the power management chip. Sounds like there is a problem with the cable where the power is being directed somewhere it shouldn't be.
This weekend, I will carefully cut open the cable and see if I can see the problem.
