I have setcpu and don't know which setting to use. Help?
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using xda premium
Set CPU is going to help you overclock your CPU but do a little research on your device and kernel you have to know what the max settings would be for your particular situation. if your running a stock kernel you won't be able to overclock
Rule of thumb stick to 1.5 GHz as your max so is to not cause any damage to your phone.
Ohh. So if I use bricked kernel with setcpu I can go up to the max on setcpu?

Hi, I use Sebastian kernel (1836 Mhz) and it's great
Using Sebastian Kernels since I rooted my normal Sensation about a month ago and never had any problems. So big thanks to Sebastian. Always used 1.5 GHz version as I don't intend to kill my phone .
Thanks, while using it at 1.5 ghz do you notice a reduced battery life?
And does flashing a kernel delete my from. Will I need to back up my existing one?

Does not delete rom, this continues as before.
I use SebFM also, clocked to 1.78GHz, I have about 1-2% battery drain per hour when not in use.
thanks for the help, however I have used the kernel at 1.5 ghz, and after about 10 miuntes it lags out. any ideas?

first of all what rom and the reason it freezes is because your phone can't handle that high of OC.

1000Mhz=1Ghz so just do the math & you'll figure out where u need to set it & as Nick said, if u oc higher than ur phone can handle it's gonna freeze up so lower the oc. Every device handles oc'ing & undervolting differently & can even vary from ROM to ROM how high u can oc stabily

Why would you use a aftermarket kernel if your custom Rom has built in under and overclocking from 192 MHz to 1.728 GHz.what are the benefits of running a kernel with a Rom like this?

Didn't you just ask this very same question yesterday? PLEASE stop spamming the forum.
No I didnt.

I think it's just a matter of personal perfrence. What you like and what you want. Hope this helps you.

Just to clarify, these custom ROMs with "built in" over and underclocking are using the very same "aftermarket" kernels you're talking about. If the ROM chefs didn't include these kernels into their ROMs, then you would only have the stock 384-1188 MHz range available.
And like it was said earlier, people like different things. I was using Bricked last week, but now I'm on Faux. It's a matter of preference.

It is completely up to you as stated above but personally I don't overclock st all anymore, just no need. I never really notice a difference except for in battery life. There is a kernel floating around somewhere in the dev section which has an option of running on one core at 1.5ghz permanently, no matter what and if you want to go for battery life I'd chose that.

Hi everybody. I have a problem with my One S 3D gpu frequency. It's locked on 128 Mhz and I can't change it. I tried elementalx and bulletproof and bricked kernel but no change. I use kernel tuner app to change it but nothing happened. I'm using trickdroid 10.2.6. I just want to run it at stock clock(400Mhz). Sry for bad english.

In kernel tuner go to options untick start up at boot, restart your phone and change the settings back after and do not touch the gpu frequency it's borked.
Are you sure HTC ONE S stock clock is 400? Isnt it 225? OR I am wrong?

It's adreno 225 and 3D frequency is 400 mhz without overclock and 512 with overclock.
