Anyone tried the new Onlive app? - Samsung Galaxy Tab Plus

Curious if anyone has tried Onlive on the Plus yet? I have it installed, but keep getting connection errors.

Yep, worked fine on my Tab7+, was on wifi (Comcast) at the time. Pretty compelling app, may have to try going through a game or two on it.

My Tab dislikes my work wifi, so I'm hoping it will work when I get on my home network. I'm curious if controller support only works with the new Onlive controller or if it will work with a PS3 controller too.

I think it's only onlive controller. Don't know if there is a workaround.

Onlive
Wouldnt work on my work network, oddly enough (Business class). However at home it let me in. Menus are laggy as all hell. Gameplay was acceptable at times, however there are lag spikes which cause slowdown and than super speed while it catches up. Very dependent on your network speed. Was still quite a thrill playing these games in the palm of your hand though.

Yeah, it's definitely not perfect, but hopefully a sign of good things to come. It would be great for some turn based games like Civ.

OnLive worked quite well for me... I think it's highly dependant on internet speed / latency though. (I have 50mb up/50mb down and 7ms ping)
Controls on the touchscreen are limited. If you're going to do it serious I'd get an onlive controller.

I bought the Onlive controller, it'll arrive tomorrow. Will let everyone know if it works with the tab.

Hello all,
Just want to give you a quick status update:
1). Onlive App works flawlessly on my Samsung Galaxy Tab 7+
2). I bought the Wireless controller, pair it via Bluetooth with my GT7+ and it works
3). I can start Onlive app, play Lego Batman (FREE if you register) and use the Wireless controller to play.
The wireless controller, once connected to Bluetooth, can even control the GT+. I use Go Launcher and I can move left and right to different screen, play music by pressing the "Play" button on the controller, etc.
So now I can play pretty much ANY games on Onlive via my GT7+. Lego batman, Just Cause 2, and HomeFront multiplayer.
One thing to note: pairing the BT requires following the instructions in here.
Once it's done, it's a breeze!

Fpse - first impressions - sixaxis controller

A copy and paste of the what I posted on the Fpse forum since I thought people here might be interested.
I have an Asus Transformer, and a wireless PS3 controller via Sixaxis Controller app
After fiddling with Fpse for a couple of hours, here is my impression:
Menus are very buggy:
Most settings have trouble saving - took me 3 try tries to get Country - Europe to save, other settings are hit and miss
Controller input settings never save - Every time I load Fpse I have to re-input the controller settings under "Hardware keys"
- Please fix this!!!!
Controls are OK:
Once the controls are mapped, they work pretty much as expected
No analog emulation for digital keys = I can't play ape escape with my wireless PS3 controller, bummer.
Definitely needs analog emulation for digital key presses
I might be able to find a work around for the analog with Sixaxis Controller app, not sure. Still getting used to the app
Audio - Sometime great, sometimes not so great
The audio appears tied into the frame rate - if Frameskip is on, it also appears to skip the audio, resulting in choppy audio
When games run at full frame rate, the audio is pretty good.
Games seem to work just fine
Games appear to be working just as they should, nothing spectacular, nothing bad, which is a very good thing.
Performance seems a little slow, but that could be the Transformer not having enough CPU power, or Fpse.
This post may not seem negative, but it is really not. Any problems I didn't experience means they are not there, which means a lot of things work great. It's hard to find things that are working correctly, because if they are working correctly, you should never notice they are there. I also know this is a relatively new app, and Android is a new operating system. It takes time to get things to work correctly.
I am very satisfied with Fpse. But getting the menu to save the controller settings and adding analog emulation would go a long way to making even more satisfied and telling more people about Fpse (hint, hint). A playstation emulator without a proper control setup kills the fun outright.
I installed CM7 nightly 25 for my SGSII and installed the sixasis app, configured just fine with FPse and worked everytime I started it up again, remembered just fine.
Didn't test analog though.
I configured the control and then saved it as default under settings.
If you load a game that already has a config or save you need to re-enter the controls and save again as default, this will be for that game then...
after that it works fine
Hi ...
I was trying to use the sixasis, and I could use it fine on the phone...
The problem is that I cannot use it with FPse...
Anyone can help me about how to set it ?
Thanks
What specifically are you having problems with?
1) Connect the PS3 controller via sixaxis controller app
2) Configure the PS3 controller buttons in sixaxis, i.e. what keyboard button you want each PS3 button to emulate
3) Disconnect and reconnect to Sixaxis controller app
4) Open FPse and load a game
5) Configure the controls in FPse to use the PS3, Remember sixaxis controller app makes the PS3 controller emulate keyboard buttons, so configure key bindings
6) In FPse, under system, click save default settings. If you don't do this you have to rebind the PS3 controller keys every time you start FPse
7) Play game

Same issue here Were you able to get it working? If so please send link. I'm still searching for a solution.
Both work great for me on tf. There were recent issues if you were using the opengl plugin and tried to bind keys, but the newest update fixed it.

Trouble bt pairing to my PS3 Sixaxis controller

Hi everyone. I really tried to do my due diligence on this before I posted. Everything I've read seems to indicate that ICS can pair PS3 controllers natively, with no need for the Sixaxis Android app, and no need for rooting. But I simply have no succeeded in doing so. I was trying with an older controller from the first generation of PS3s, and though that perhaps it was too old, so I went out and dropped $60 on a new official Sony Sixaxis Dual Shock 3, and I'm still have no luck. I have tried plugging the controller in by USB to the dock first, because some people seemed to indicate that that would help the two devices pair better. And while plugged in by USB, it works fine, I can map the buttons in emulators and use them with no problem. But when I unplug the control pad, hit the Sony button in the middle, and let the TF700 search for devices, it never finds my controller. It's found a Wiimote with no problem, but then of course it wants a pin, and that's its own problem. It's even found my Xperia Play on bluetooth, so I know it's not the bluetooth hardware. Does anyone have any suggestions for me? Sixaxis obviously won't work since there's no root method. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

There is in fact a root method (look for debugfs, don't have the link handy), I use sixaxis and have my PS3 controller paired to my Infinity the day I got it.
I was able to use my PS3 Sixaxis controller on my TF101 with ICS (via bluetooth), but not on the TF700 for some reason.... It only seems to work while cabled (with the TF101, after using it for a minute as a "wired" controller, it automatically paired itself via bluetooth - after the first minute, you didn't need the cable anymore... Not sure why it doesn't work on the TF700. Strange...
Sent from my ASUS Transformer Pad TF700T using Tapatalk 2
It seems like (for whatever reason) Asus did not include the drivers for Ps3 controller in TF700. On my Prime and OG TF, it would automatically pair after using it once over USB. Not a big issues though as I had already purchased Sixxas app.
SixAxis app works great to connect the PS3 controller to the device, but it does *not* satisfy all requirements that the built-in drivers that other tablets and CM9 does. For example, I am an OnLive subscriber and the PS3 controller does not work whatsoever with SixAxis. However, I can plug it in via USB, or use a Xbox360 controller and they work great. This isn't a HUGE issue at the moment, but I did have dreams of having multiple Ps3 controllers and plugging the 700 in to my 60" on occasion. I have also found that when using the PS3 controller even with SixAxis' gamepad emulation, it often doesn't allow the right analog stick to function. At the moment, this is working much worse than on my TF101 w/ CM9 on it.

I wish I could run OnLive here in my country, because as far as I can tell, the app should behave exactly the same with OnLive when the 'Preferences->Gamepad Settings->Enable Gamepad' option is enabled. Evidently there are some differences that are causing issues. I'm not sure what problem you're having with the right analog stick, but you should ensure that you don't have any touch profiles enabled when in native gamepad mode, as they will override the gamepad inputs.
Can we expect Asus to resolve this (Bluetooth built-in connection) along with JB?

Don't get your hopes up.
About the only "viable" way I could see ASUS doing this would be if they made and marketed their OWN controller that could also be used with teh PS3 systems. But that would be still a limited market and would not be financially viable for them.
Well I thought I let you guys know pairing PS3 via the dock is working Idk if it's jellybean or clean room 2.3 feature but I have out working so far, check it out

Works also with stock JB.
Confirmed JB works
Just confirming that the JB update includes the drivers to use the SIXAXIS controller. I just got my TF700 and it wouldn't even detect the controller in ICS in the bluetooth menu, but it did respond when it was plugged in via USB.
Just updated to JB and plugged in the controller. As soon as I turned it on it added the controller to the paired devices list in the bluetooth menu and now it works flawlessly!
Cheers

Moga Pro, Pivot Apps - games and controller lags heavily

I got the AT&T Note, recently upgraded to Jelly Bean 4.1.2. I also got the Moga Pro.
I run the Pivot App, selected Nova 3 and tried to play the Campagin mode with the Moga Pro. Problem is, everything just lags heavily:
1). There is lag from the moment I press the button to the actual action executed
2). Right Analog Stick works but the character turns very slowly - bad in FPS. However, Left Analog Stick works like a charm
3). Games just jerky and laggy
Is this issues with Moga Pivot Apps? Or just the controller in general?
I dont have any issue with it, also got the moga pro. But I've gotta say that the pivot app sucks, it shouldnt be open every time you want to play a game. Look for Universal moga driver ( it'll be soon updated to support the moga pro controller ).
Quick update: this is a KNOWN ISSUE --> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=41946221#post41946221
Only solution, for now, is to DISABLE Wifi when the Moga Pro controller is connected. Practically make online multiplayer useless. (tried playing via AT&T 4G but connection is laggy...)
Moga Pivot app causes wifi drops/disconnects for me. I can connect my Moga Pro through the app, everything is fine. I play the game and then disconnect the controller. As soon as I disconnect, wifi problems start (disconnects, drops, lags etc) Only way to get stable wifi back is disable bluetooth or Force Stop Moga Pivot app. There are 2 background services of the Moga Pivot app, I suspect they search extensively after a disconnect and tax the bluetooth heavily and cause wifi problems. My phone is Galaxy S4.
My educated guess is that your using 2.4ghz wifi and your Bluetooth runs at similar frequency. Try connecting to 5ghz wifi connection and using controller at the same time. Just a shot in the dark but I use ac 1750 router which has 5g wifi and have no lagging issues at all. Let me know if this helps. .. Also Bluetooth and 2.4ghz wifi disconnects are possible with your S-4 especially if it's connected to a usb3.0 cable due to the resonate frequency that usb3.0 generates during operation. Solution: charge your phone with an older USB 2.0 cable while playing. ....

[Q] Best Controller

My goal is I want a controller which can completely take the place of the Nvidia Shield controller. I want to be able to play my shield into my TV sit on my couch and play like if I were holding the shield, including control the mouse with the right joystick.
Now I don't know if this is possible yet, I tried the Nyko playpad but I couldn't even get the darn thing to work at all.
I was hoping to get this ready in the next week to get ready for the console mode coming to the shield
Controller : Moga Pro.
Did you try that ?
And by the way other topics in the forum say Nyko works well with Shield.

Yea I heard good things about the playpad too which is why I got it but after being on tech support with Nyko and other forums noone seems to know what's going on (maybe just a defective unit?)
By the way the Moga, does it do what I'm looking for with basically being the shield controller away from the shield in all cases? Have you experienced any issues with it?
I decided to return this pad it's just a headache, anyone able to tell me if the Moga will work just like the shield controls even in the android menus with the mouse?
Edit: I should probably add I don't really want to root my device

Right now, only a wired XBox controller will work correctly, but that's being fixed "very soon". I can't be more specific than that.
***PERSONALLY***, I can't stand the Nyko controller. I'd pay the extra and get the OnLive controller, it has the best feel for all the controllers I've played with, personally.

Honestly at this point I'd be happy to buy anything as long as it works just like using the shield controls (Full control equal to that of shield in all apps and operating system, virtual mouse and streaming)
If the Onlive does that does that I'll buy it right now, unfortunately all my 360 controllers are the wireless ones

There is one feature none of the controllers will support, and that is the "SHIELD" button. But honestly, you can launch the Dashboard via the icon. The RSMouse (Virtual Mouse, right stick mouse, whatever) works with OnLive in the next OTA.
Tomorrow, I'll bring home my OnLive controller and triple-check it works with PC Streaming. I have not personally verified it, only the rest of the functionality since my responsibilities end with Android working correctly. You can actually blame me personally for issues with the RSMouse not working with external controllers, that was me.

Ah didn't realize you were a Nvidia Dev. Thanks then I really appreciate it if you'd test that out since I'm strongly looking forward to this console mode which is why I'm preparing for it now. If you can let me know that all buttons work that'd be amazing.
It's not a loss for me not having the shield button since like you said I can just click it on my android device with the virtual mouse, but I'm concerned about how future updates (Such as android 4.3) will have on these controllers. I know Nyko seemed to have strong issues with the 4.2 jump and I want to make sure if I purchase a 50 dollar Onlive controller for my shield that I won't run into future issues within reason.
I'll deff take your advice on the onlive controller though since I was very happy with the shield look and feel (Minus the d-pad but my unit isn't as bad as others have reported thankfully) so I know you have good tastes lol

I can assure you that anything I test out tomorrow will work on 4.3 as well.
You don't even need the RSMouse to bring up the dashboard. The launcher is fully navigable with the controller. I had plenty of issues with the Nyko, especially with the analog sticks feeling "sloppy". Anyone I've asked to move the mouse at a slight diagonal with the Nyko has had trouble, but with the OnLive, it's smooth and effortless. I'll give you more details tomorrow night after I try it out at home.

So just out of curiosity i hard wired my ps3 controller to my shield without rooting and it actually worked (thought root was required) but as people have stated the d-pad doesn't work in streaming. I thought the problem was only with wireless, is there any chance the D-pad might work in the future without rooting?
Edit: I borrowed my friends Moga it seems to work great except the triggers don't seem to be working in streaming (haven't had anything to test them in android yet)
Edit 2: It appears Retroarch won't recognize the Moga at all and I don't know why since it's on its autodetect list.... only the d-pad seems to work in retroarch and i see no way to customize controls
Edit 3: Wow another Edit I found when using the Moga with streaming it completely makes my stream lag and sometimes disconnect and usually its perfect... again still no shoulder buttons working

For the Moga, Pro, you need to make sure you're in HID mode. This is actually setting B, not A.
The OnLive worked great with streaming and everything else. I'm curious if I can make a custom ROM that actually makes use of the remaining buttons on the OnLive for media playback and the SHIELD button...

I'm about to break down and just buy the OnLive controller. I'm having difficulty with all the other controllers and there's always a draw back even after the update which did make things much better for me but still missing some things.
Could you do me a huge favor and get retroarch if you haven't already and confirm that it works no hassle, Triggers, Start and Select, and L3 and R3.
PS3 controller works great minus the select button which is the back button in retroarch but I really don't want to void my warranty and root to get that to work wirelessly.

Splashtop 2 with Controller Support

hey guys,
thought id share that splashtop 2 now supports controllers, mainly the xbox 360 controller but ive been testing with a ps3 controller (bluetooth) and it works surprisingly well, the ps3 controller seems to have an issue with deadzone with the analog sticks (ive contacted suppot) but other than that latency is low and very playable, ive been testing it on a 801.11n 2.5ghz network about 20+ meters away from my router and it was still playable.
To enable controller support, you need to install a driver,
open cmd with admin permissions an run cd "c:\Program Files (x86)\Splashtop\Splashtop Remote\Server\GamePad" then install_driver64.bat (or install_driver.bat for 32bit e.g.)
Restart splashtop and it should work, still the fullscreen game limitation but most games support borderless and/or windowed mode.
Enjoy

I'm having a little trouble with this. I've seen a few other people online with the same problem, just no answers yet. I did everything just as you said there, just as the splashtop website says, that is. I had it say "echo off" and then a few seconds later, windows asked me if I wanted to install the driver. So I did, it installed, and I restarted splashtop. I even restarted my pc, when that failed. Either way, when I plug my Xbox 360 Controller for Windows into the usb of the dock of my ASUS tf300t, it just blinks the green circle and the only control I have is the left analog, and maybe like one other button. Any ideas?

Hmm are you using a custom rom? with my tests i used a ps3 controller and sixaxis app to access it, also does this happen on native android games? try recreate a driver using usb/bt control app

No custom rom. I do not have the tablet rooted at all, which disables me from being able to use the sixaxis app to test my ps3 controller or the usb/bt app. However, you are correct, both the PS3 controller and the Xbox360 controller for windows work perfectly on native android apps like GTA:Vice City and various emulators. So I guess that just leaves Splashtop. I'm nearly 100% certain that the Splashtop software the tf300t comes pre-loaded with is Splashtop 2. But I could be wrong.

Yeah, I did that too. lol. Still no go. I then went back and uninstalled and reinstalled all the software. Still no go. I was now thinking I'm just going to have to use a ps3 controller connected wirelessly to my pc upstairs, but that would require me spending another 15 bucks on a bluetooth usb adapter. I don't want to do that. lol.
