What does it mean ondemand, performance, hotplug and so on? what is the diference?

Well, ondemand : cpu maxes only when is needed
performance: cpu runs always on max speed, and consumes lots of battery...
I don't know anything about hotplug

hotplug
Hotplug its the performence switching all the time like if u put it on 200mhz and 1000mhz it will be like this: 1000-200-1000-200-1000-200-1000-200
its switching every 1sec

This means a lot battery consumption, right?

Ya..hotplug using apparent juice aiming good performance side..if u want no compramis on battery choose ondemand..u can also use 'setxperia'(free from play store) by intek which working awsom on o3d..

[Q] Undervolting - Will it reduce device temp?

Right so my phone can get pretty hot some times and I was just wondering if I undervolt it will it reduce the heat of my phone?
Also how much difference does UV actually show
It can't, because you can undervoltage not much or your phone won't be stable anymore.I think the easier way is to downclock your cpu speed.

It can help in term of technical, but in actually at the rate you can see the different of it.I don't think your phone will still stable or functional.

He means that you can use an app like SetCPU to underclock or lower the clock frequency of your phones CPU, this will leave you a slower but cooler phone.
yes, if you undervolt you reduce cpu "power consuption" as equally as how many volt you decrese.. but.. if you undervolt too much, you lose cpu stability, so, if you undervolt you have to underclock, the same for overclock, if you overclock you may overvolt
it's different for all peoples, some users could have a better cpu (with less impurity), it can be overcloccked better with less overvolt, some can have a bad cpu chip, it means they have to overvolt so much for a little overclock
i have a sensation normally with -75mV undervolt and stock clock, it's stabe, so, am i lucky?
Temperature is a function of voltage + clockspeed. It is recommended you stay at 1.2ghz for good balance b/w performance, temp, and battery consumption.
To easily find your optimal voltage threshold, globally undervolt in stages of 12.5mv until your phone because unstable. Then increase it by 1 stage and that is the optimal voltage your phone should be running at.
Of course you can even go as far as tweak voltages at different clock speeds. Usually there is much more room to UV the lower clocks (192 and 384mhz around 800 or 812.5mv) than the higher clocks.
Hope this helps

[Q] How do I use no frill CPU?

I want to overclock my phone. I have doom kernel v14 installed. I installed no frill CPU on my phone. The min frequency I seleted was at 300 MHz (approx) and the max was 1.4 GHz (approx). Does this mean that the phone will automatically go between these values if I run a heavy app (eg GTA 3)? And what does the 'governor' and 'i/o schedular' mean and what does it do? My current settings are :
sio - I/o schedular
Performance - govenor
Min - 245
Max - 1.2 Ghz
Governor : Smartass v2
Mine is like this.
and what about the i/o scheduler? And what does govenor and i/o scheduler mean?
I'm also on Doomkernel v14 and my battery is draining so quicky. Its dropping 5% every 10minutes even when I'm using any light application. I have SetCPU and my sttings are Max 1401MHz and Min 134MHz with smartassV2 and deadline. Although speed is amazing but battery performance is terrible.

Performance governor is a "special" one in that it goes to the max. clock speed, and never uses the min., or any frequency in between. You can do that if you want to do benchmarking reliably, but I'm not sure it's good for battery life.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1663809
^ That page explains all the governors, but from what I can tell from using Cool Tool onscreen system info app, "lagfree" on Doomkernel seems to be a higher performance governor like you'd expect from the name and not how he or she describes: it seems to scale down only quite slowly from a high clock, I'm guessing to eliminate any possible lag while scrolling the interface that might result if it scaled down quicker. And we don't have anything relating to multiple cores
Anyway, I think I saw you say you were on JokaWild as well. Looking at the Joka init.d scripts the SmartAssV2 parameters are tweaked towards performance and it comes as the default for the rom, so maybe try that as a more balanced option than Performance governor.
Another CPU governor and I/O scheduler mega-thread

I wondered as well if v14 was not as good as v13 3013 for battery life, but better for performance, but 5% in 10 minutes is a lot. Have you tried using the BetterBatteryStats app to find an explanation? Has it got better just through subsequent use / recharging?
Battery life really sucks on jokawild (actually in all CustomRoms).
I have mine like this (r800a):
-smartassv2/sio or bfq
-.62 stock rom with a couple of build.prop mods
-64 baseband
-juice defender
-brightness around 25%
-supercharger v6
My phone has been for like 4hr and still with 100%

Was it charging? That's impossible. I left my phone idle, lowest brightness and wifi off for about 30 minutes and it dropped to 96%.
I have deep sleep enabled, juice defender,

[Q] Help with setting up kernel please.

I am having trouble regarding these: undervolt
maximum cpu frequency
maximum gpu frequency
cpu thermal throttling
So i downloaded kernel :Sultan-kernel-Pure-v1.7.0-Pyramid-Aroma.zip
6.5MB, which I think is the latest one. But i am not familiar with those because it is my frist time to flash my own rom and kernel. I've done everything right but can you help me set up the kernel? which is best? because there are numbers in it and i dont know what to choose. Also what is best setting for saving battery life? overclock, underclock, undervolt, cpu freq, gpu freq, thermal throttling., what are those
I also apologize for posting like 3 threads for this because im a newbie. I hope you consider. HELP me please.

for good battery life put these settings:
cpu freq: whatever freq you want but maximum at 1.5ghz
gpu freq:266mhz
undervolt:whatever value you want but maximum -50mv

Best kernel for battery life for osprey?

Hai I'm wondering what's the best kernel for battery life is and if they're about the same which would be the best one

There is no "best" kernel as each one will behave differently depending on your usage. Battery life is about trading performance for longer usage... If you don't like to tweak the kernel, leave it stock... the stock kernel and ROM are quite well optimized. Other wise if you don't mind tweaking, try any kernel, maybe start with Squid, and a conservative governor (like lionfish, conservative, or powersave), set the CPU minimum to 200Mhz, and the CPU Max Frequency 1094Mhz, even take a core or two off line if you want to get real crazy. Remember that to make a significant difference in battery you need to make a noticeable change in performance.

Ah cheers

CPU governor variables

Could anyone tell me what each of the variables are for the Interactive CPU governor?
I've found plenty of guides to say what each governor does and what they good for, but nothing for tweaking the variables.
I just want the governor to wait a little longer before ramping up the frequency, it seem to jump very high when there's only a 20% load and theres not need really, I could be saving that bit of battery there.
Yes you are rite. But you see the issue is only with hotplug and performence governer.
But if you apply powersaver or userspace governer then actually you do not face any fluctuations until performence is really neeeded
