Should I root my x10i now or wait?

Okay my question is simple, should I root my x10 now or wait for the 2.1 SE update.
Also does anybody have any info about the boot loader, I've seen various posts saying its been cracked, has it? And if not any idea how long before it is?
Thanks

Painless root with no flashing.
Happy rooting.
Root is the way forward
Rooted now got bored so I rooted it just waiting for bootloader so I can flash 2.1 or 2.2 on

Would like to expand a little upon this thread. I am at the same position as OP was, and my only concern is that I heard some apps in the market are not available for rooted phone (instead of the other way around) due to some protection coding. Is that true? Are there any major apps that are particularly note worthy?

I haven't had any problems since my root, phone if anything works better, google and download an app called x10 root, this will root your phone without all the fuss. If you want to undo the root install universal androot and unroot it. They are not on the market though.
Hope this helps bud

Beware if you root be careful what you uninstall as some apps eg media and timescape are linked into the functionality of the phone.

Like above said, be careful what you remove. Titanium backup is what I used. Freeze stuff first to test.
First root I did i killed timescape, gave me no end of problems.

Use the kernels/recoveries from adrynalyne
You can permanently jailbreak a ps3 now, just download geohots jailbreak patch and use it on your ps3 and BAM! Permanent

I used psfmod recoveries on my N1 before i sold it, didn't know he made inc versions.
They are correct, I'm a little out of touch with the PS3 scene. PSN is more important than "homebrew", so I'm rocking 3.56
I find it funny that most of the "homebrew" so far is backup managers.

Gingerbread

It's amazing we were supposed to so called have our gingerbread like 2 months ago, has anyone heard anything? Because I am trying hard not to have to root my Infuse, and I don't really have a way to root it either but it is so aggravating being on 2.2 still especially with such a great device.

AT&T never said an exact date officially, unless you go by what some customer service rep said on twitter. They only said it would be this year.

Just root it and flash serendipity or infused, or dlev, or any other gingerbread rom.
It's very simple.

No way to root? Huh

+1 All you need to root is a comp, usb cable and your phone, rooting is quite literally one click (superoneclick)...unless you use HDMI religiously, the roms here are awesome gingerbread goodness even if unofficial.

dude, get the drivers from the samsung site, get heimdall 1.1, get visual c++ redistrobutable package and get the comunity kernel.
extract the kernel .zip and find the zimage
install the drivers
open heimdall
put the zimage in the kernel slot
put the phone in download mode and connect to usb
hit the flash button in heimdall
pretty easy

rooting is easy!!
Just follow the steps
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1081072
that's all you need to do.
Thank u

To make things easier on yourself, you should really find a comp, google "Superoneclick Infuse" and it should pop up step by step install instructions. (download link included)
Still, with the root/flash options, I too would like the official release from AT&T...the wait is getting too long.
Question -I assume I'll need to reload apps if I flash a ROM, correct?
I'll just leave this here...

COBY Kyros MID1024 Android 4.0.3 - Nothing I tried has worked. Can't get it rooted, can't get app market to run. i'll say this, i downloaded your latest version and it installed but when you click on market - it tries then comes right back to home screen. Can't go ther manually either. Man, this would be a fairly cool tablet if i had more control. If anyone knows how to get that.....I'm in!
Thanks for keeping up with all this.

If you want the official release from Samsung, you would need to download & install the Kies Mini software from Samsung. Once you've done that, click the menu in the upper left-hand corner to install the drivers. Plug your phone in via the USB cord, Kies Mini should recognize it and tell you that it can be updated. Hit the button, let it do it's thing (takes 10-20 minutes), and that's about it.
Just a little extra:
http://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-1810
Why...?...is gingerbread the official one that comes with the Samsung ...cause i bought mine from someone...she got hers from t-mobile...and it just seemsvlike my froyo is way more outdated then my wifes...and one more question...is there like cab files for android...?...and is it able to change the taskbar at the top of the screen...?
