Is there a way to do a backup and then transfer it and save it to my computer and then put it back on my phone and restore it?

Use titanium backup(download off market *requires root access*) to backup all system data and apps. once you do that then press the menu button and create update.zip you can also change the name of it to titanium back up to make it easier for you. after you create the zip file connect your phone to your computer and on your phone put it in usb mode.(this means when the phone asks turn on usb mode click turn on usb mode.)
Then on your computer go to start then to your phone which should be removable disk you should see all your files. locate the zip file you just created and copy it to your desktop or wherever you want to get it on your computer. If you have root just using recovery to install the zip again would be easier. if you want to root your phone i can get you a lick to help you do so.

mybackup pro works good for me, and no root required

Rooting 2.3.6 without unlocking bootloader for backups

I'm trying to get ICS on my i9020A Nexus S, but all the guides I've seen that say they work with 2.3.6 unlock bootloader at the same time as root.
I'd like to backup apps and app data with titanium backup first before unlocking the bootloader, how should I go about doing this? Or is there a better way to backup before bootloader unlock?
Thanks

In the description is says "Data/setting of applications can only be supported if you have a rooted phone"?
I'm mostly concerned with game saves.

*** How do you delete a nandroid backup ? ***

Ended up making two nandroid back ups & just want to delete one of them for the sake of space on my sd card. Is there a way to do this "without" using rom manager ?? Thanks
I'm assuming your talking about the backups from CWM. You can use any file manager such as ES File Manager. The backup is stored in /sdcard/clockworkmod/backup.
You can also connect your phone to PC using USB and delete from there.
Gotcha thanx bro
Plug it into your computer and select Disk drive then double click that drive and then double click clockwork then backups.

How do I pull an app off my phone so I can download it on another?

I am going to un route my phone and then root it again. My favorite reminder app Astrid is no longer supported and is no longer in the market however I still use it all the time. I don't like the other applications.
I use titanium back up. I am assuming that I can pull the application off of my phone and put it on my desktop and then transfer it back to my phone and install it. Is that correct? What file should I look for? Do I need multiple files? I copy and pasted the Astrid folder from my phone to my desktop so I could transfer it back to my phone and still have all of my information when I restored however I don't think that folder has the actual application in it.

Its as simple as opening titanium backup, going to backup/restore, scrolling to the app you want which in this case is Astrid, tap the app and press backup! You don't need to move the file off the phone as long as you're not wiping the internal SD which 95% of the time isn't necessary. Hope I helped!

Thanks for your response, however I will be wiping the phone completely.

You can set the location of Titanium Backup to an easy to remember folder. After finishing the backup you can transfer the files to your PC, and then to your new phone.
In case you have an external SD card you can set it to backup there. Then you can just insert your SD in the new phone to recover.

Samsung galaxy nexus, so no sd card. Which file am I looking for in titanium? And do I want to restore that file necessarily? I might be putting it on an SG3 and I wouldn't want to include and system info and I'm not sure exactly what that backed up file includes.
Is there an .sdk that I should look for?

You can use titanium backup or backup system apps using es file explorer backup
Maybe I'm not being clear. What would the filename be called and where would I find it? I installed root browser but there is no search function. I'm assuming it's Astrid.sdk

What is thr location of the backups? Check that in settings. Make sure it's data/media/0.
Reboot your phone prior to connecting. It always need a fresh restart to connect properly with MTP

Best way to xfer a Nandroid backup from a broken S6?

So my S6 stopped charging via cable last night, will only charge wirlessley. I'm assuming the charging port is broken. Given that the S6 obviously has no SDCARD, i'm assuming the best way to backup, and restore to a new S6 is to use NANDROID to create a backup, compress, xfer to my PC, get the new phone, root, install ROM, xfer NANDROID backup from PC, decompress, then restore it?
A couple of questions since I've actually never had to restore to a new phone:
How do I decompress the backup on the new phone?
Also, when I create backups, should I be doing it from the NANDROID app, or in recovery using TWRP?
Anything else I need to know?
Thanks,

Airdroid only allows up to 1GB with premium. My compressed backup is 4GB.
Suggestions?
Just enable "ADB over WiFi" in Developer Settings then use adb to pull the files
Aaaaand the right answer was ES File Explorer LAN function.
thanks.
does root explorer support lan features ?

It does not. I learned this today. Looks like I'm switching.
