Hi guys.
I recently received the google maps 6 update.
Subsequently the compass isn't detected or used anymore.
The compass is working,I checked with other apps.
I'm also missing the config dialog that was present in older maps version to configure the use of internal sensors.
Is it just me?

Reverted back to gmaps 5.1 and the compass works again.
Google skymap is strange too: no GPS fix, it didn't even try.GPS icon doesn't appear at all.
Gonna try gearth in a moment.

same problem on my lg optimus 2x under cyanogenmod.
Same problem on my Lg-p970 on 2.3 But 2.2 is Good.
Same problem on my Moto RAZR Maxx on4.0.4 but 2.3.5 & 2.3.6 is Good.
I hope i can do something to fix it.

and i have a strange problem with the google maps application
although i can see a notification that i can update the maps app when i try to all i get is an error "this video is not available in your country"
yes i know google maps is NOT a video but that's what i get in the app page

i live in greece..and i had ALL the latest updates to all my 3 phones..without using hacks/alternative apps (market enabler) etc etc..
but for the newest version 5.11 i think i simply can not update..
is there a know problem with greece or other countries?
i already posted on the google maps support and all i got back as feedback is to re-install the app witch i already did..
also add to that the google + applications gives me the same error!!!!
i too have the same problem since i have installed CM7 on my phone!
I think there is a video in the previews of this app and apparently its blocked in your country. The weird part is that the message removes the update and uninstall buttons. Try logging in to your account from your PC and go to the Android market and try installing from there. It should work.

Hello All,
It might seems funny, but I am struggling with my first ever android (Samsung Nexus) that i bought 4 days back (In Netherlands, Simlock free, without any contract) but I am unable to launch even Google Play Store App on it.
I don't have any default store app ,so i tried to install multiple version of Google Play App, so that I can access and download apps, but every time when I pressed the icon it blink for a moment and then nothing happens. I tried to clear data, restarted cell multiple times, but no luck. Please help how can I access Google play app or android market to download app.
i am stuck with it for a long time now. Request all experts to help me so that I can fully utilized my new nexus.
Have you tried uninstalling and re installing Play Store?

Yes, I tried multiple version of Google Play Store App and also clear the data from Setting-->Apps section..still not able to solve it.
Which version of Android are you running and are you rooted?

Reinstall Android 4.0.3. There is a thread out here with the link to the full signed rom. You can install it from stock recovery

I believe that is a test build and not a regular unit for retail customer so It's not equipped with Google apps.
Anyways, I am going to store to get either new unit or any fix for the same, but if anyone here already faced this kind of issue and can provide me any guidance, it will be good help.

I am using the lastest ported MIUI ROM 3.9 for my MTK device and it works perfect with just only one problem,
In google maps, if GPS is off, it doesn't detect location(with bug blue circle).!
I've replaced networklocation.apk, and liblocksdk2.4 and liblocksd2_5_OEM.so
Am I missing something?
A working solution would be great as it would help 100's of people using the same ROM.
Google Now widget says 'Google Now is not available'. I live in Malta so I think the problem is with the Location Service (it does not work here). But on my galaxy Note it was disabled by default, on 4.4 it says 'Google Location Reporting not available in Malta'. A know someone which fixed the problem by installing an older version of Maps, so I am guessing that is the problem..Any ideas how I can fix without losing latest Maps?

i am facing the same problem "google now is not available" on nexus 4 but surprisingly its working fine on nexus 7.
my location is same and on both case the settings are same.
can any one explain me why such discrepancy?

Plenty of people experience the same issue. I thought it's going to be fixed in 4.4.1 but nothing.
On my nexus 7 it works, in 5 doesn't.
Check your system language. After the update it was charged to English uk. Changed it to English us and it was fixed.
