I am really into rooting/trying out new roms/themes and wanted to try flashing ubuntu.
I appreciate a nice screen (resolution and graphics) and good processing.
Problem... My asurion insurance is out on my Infuse, 2 of my Infuses were stolen. Both were from Ausrion, as my original ended up with a cracked screen (my fault).
I can't afford this phone straight up at the moment, and would like to have something to use so I don't pay $50 a month for nothing...
What can you guys suggest?
Even if the option is a cruddy phone before modding, I'd be interested.
The Galaxy W , HTC EVO 3D , LG Optimus GT540 , Galaxy S2 or maybe even the Sensation XL/XE (take your pick)

If you like messing around with your phone (Flashing, tweaking, modding, etc.) and the T-MOUS HD2 works in your area for 3G, go with that.
Otherwise, a used Nexus One or HTC Desire I'd say... The X10 isn't what it's cracked up to be.

Well I can start by saying there is a huge difference between a nexus s and a x10. They both suck. The nexus s is a Samsung and it's already falling behind many android phones about to be released, nexus s is much better than the Sony tho. I olwould wait a month or so and you can get a dual core. They are on the way.

Shop around. Keep your options open. Plenty of phones out there that are better than the x10 Sam S. Check Craigslist, ask your friends, etc. You can get a good deal for 350.
Desire Z/G2 is another option you might want to consider.
I bought my new desire hd a week ago and its amazing...highly recomended!

I don't know which one I should buy: Optimus 3D or Galaxy R?
Some of my friends says that Optimus 3D uses TI OMAP4430, its faster. But in YouTube videos, Optimus 3D suck in internet using. Galaxy R is not fast as Optimus 3D but it plays 3 videos in same time perfectly.
I don't care about the 3D option of Optimus. I just want to have a phone which can give me good sound, fast internet using and watching videos, great screen to play games and enough battery time for me.

Optimus 3D is 525 euros/685 dolars.

Get a Nexus Phone. It's the best android phone!
I think you can also get a HTC Sensation for the price of the Optimus 3D. If it is avaiable in your country i'd totally recommend the Sensation. If you can spend a little more get a GS2. I bought mine for 550 dollars and it is totally worth it

SGS2. Clear choice.
Check out www.gsmarena.com and use their compare option.
I say Galaxy Nexus if on VZW if not import (if you can) for T-Mobile or ATT. Since this has awesome dev support, Nexii always do. Or just wait for quad core phones CES is next week. If you can't wait I say gs2 on any carrier but VZW

Galaxy S II is the clear winner from that list, Build quality wise only the HTC beats it.. otherwise for dev support, playing games & good battery life Galaxy S II wins

not sure if you have seen the drop test of Galaxy phones vs Iphones
but just today i had my first hand real life experience
took the phone out of my front shirt pocket, shoulder height and my fingers slipped, it went face down straight to a concrete floor (it bounced like 4 times before coming to a full stop) and it's still alive and kicking, except for a few scratches on the bezel everything is fine.
as you can see from y siggy, it's a SGS2 from Tmo

Just get a samsung epic you can get them brand new for like $200 or so, with a memory card, the II isn't worth the extra money.
I'm going to replace my HTC Wildfire with a better second-hand phone that still retain Android as OS, possibly with ICS support, even with rom xD.
For a budget of 200€ (250$) which should be the best for multimedia, gaming, etc..

A lot of the cheaper Androids can be overclocked to run at excellent speeds. I wonder if there's a chart comparing speeds between overclocked phones somewhere.

Based on the available(by Feb 18) phones on contract in the US, I don't believe there is a phone with better specs than the Note. If you can't handle the size of the beast, maybe wait until the Skyrocket HD comes out probably in March or April.
I for one am getting the Note on the 18th, mostly cuz I don't use my device as a phone much and want it more for the mini tablet aspect.
I don't believe the GS3 will be in the US for at least 4 months, because they haven't even announced it yet and when they do it will make the euro tour before we see it. I can't wait that long.

Honestly you should purchase the Galaxy SII skyrocket from samsung it is worth the buy!!
Samsung galaxy s2, or save some more money and wait for the s3.
Probably the Note is the best deal... but mine speaker distorted and my friend's one home button feel loose after extensive use.
But if the above not happen, then it will be the best C/P device for this moment

The Galaxy S II or the Galaxy Nexus. Samsung has stepped up their game big time. HTC is still good as well but needs help in the screen technology department. Seems like every LCD screen out there can't compare to SAMOLED. Samsung phones are also light and thin.

i have an LG Optimus 3D (P920)... i've waited and waited for ics, but it doesn't look like is going to happen in a short time.
soooo, i wanna change my phone.
the other day a guy offered me an iphone 4 (not 4s) with all the accessories for my O3D, the iphone is impecable, cero scratches or anyting, no money involved, just a trade.
i know the iphone 4 is 1 year older than the O3D but in "apple terms" that doesn't do so much of a difference (the iphone 4 is still pretty fast)
so, i ask you guys.... do you think is a good deal?
PS: iphone's devaluation is minimal, maybe i can do the trade and latter getting something even better than the O3D by trading the iphone again or selling it.
PS2: Sorry about my english, i know i suck xD but my native language is spanish
PS3: i know the iphone it's a "locked" phone in almost every single way... but at least it get SW updates =/

There are many people wanting to get an Iphone, so it would be easy for you to switch it with a better Android Smartphone.
Personally i would go for a Sony
If you trade it with iPhone in order to sell iPhone I'd say yes but if you going to keep the iPhone 4 I'd say that you should think of it again cause my opinion is that o3d is better.
Lots of my customers were dissapointed when I used to take out of my pocket the O3D and put it next to their iPhone 4 (after they bought the iPhone )
Regarding apple updates I can say that most of them weren't even noticed by user's.

Holy WOW ur lucky here in belgium, I can't even trade my optimus 3d MAX(p720) with a Iphone 4(S) or htc one X. Some people even don't want to trade a Galaxy s 2 (WTF) with
O3Dmax.
The reason why I want to get rid of this is because it doesn't have any custom rom or even stock ics rom ;''((
