[Q] How to install the new ICBINB KJ6 Rom? - Samsung Galaxy S (4G Model)

Hey guys,
I'm on stock gingerbread with root. I want to install the new ICBINB rom, but I don't have CWM and I don't have the slightest idea on how to get it on my phone.
Can someone help me out?

Odin a modded kernel. There in the dev section.

Grab one of Dr Honk's kernels from the Dev section and install with Odin. That will give you CWM.

[Q] problem rooting the phone

Hey everybody I flash my phone with the latest firmware kj6 using odin and lost root. I try to rooted again with super one click 1.7 but it didn't work for this firmware, I know theres other kernel that already contain with root such as the kj1 kernel, but I find the kj6 with better battery life. So did anyone get this kj6 to be rooted without using other kernel, if so how do you guys do it?

From what I've heard SuperOneClick cannot root a GB ROM. I've always flashed drhonk's awesome kernels to get CWM/voodoo/root. Keep in mind his part is only the kernel, not the whole ROM, so you may still get the good battery life you're enjoying now. I'm running KJ6 ROM with drhonk's KJ1 kernel and it's running well.

well I know that the kj1 kernel is good but I kinda want to know if anyone does find a way to rooted without flashing the kj1 kernel, cos i try all the rooting skill I know so far but none seem to work with that kj6 firmware.
You need to flash drhonks kernel... root will be returned.

Yes, you can root the KJ6 without using Drhonk's kernel.
Go to this thread:

flashing kernel problem

i was trying to flash for the first time my samsung infuse with the serendipity VII rom, so i flashed the kernel with sgs flasher and when the phone rebooted it stuck in the samsung screen and it has been that way for like an hour.. i know that it takes time when you flash the kernel but i think something is wrong.. any suggestion or solution?
What kernel did you flash

Did you flash a froyo kernel or a gingerbread kernel.... S7 is a gingerbread rom so therefore you have flash a gb kernel. Use three finger combo...vol up,vol down and power to boot back into recovery and reflash your rom

If D's suggestion doesn't work... odin. You'll find a big long list of important info stickied call super thread in the Dev section.

[Q] any way to flash a different rom while keeping your current kernel?

some help would be appreciated! or how can i back up my kernel to update.zip? i tried sgs kernel flasher but it is incompatible
Easiest way I would think is to just flash that kernel again right afterwards. Kernels are generic, so none of your personal data is stored on them.
lets say i dont have it now what?
It's not a kernel that you can download from here..?
sadly no
Look in the Dev then sticky then all in one thread you'll find all the kernel's custom and stock I have all them download from there.

unless that kernel was custom made for u by a Dev then its here. If u or someone u know compiled it u wouldn't be asking the question lol. u can back up the kernel using advanced and then flash back after rom install

Interesting question.
I'm not sure if you will be able just to flash the rom with cwm 5.xxx. I think it may be possible.
However, if you're looking to change your cwm from 5.xxx to 2.xxx, you can just flash one of entropy's dd, the gb infusion kernel or one of bedwa's kernel.
You can do that in DL mode with heimdall or odin or in cwm with one of the packages.
May be to flash the kernel twice.
Ok I'm gonna try the daily driver and see how it goes. Thanks for the input.

Trying to flash a kernel

I am currently running Infused 1.60. In the about section it says Kernel version 2.6.32.9. When I flash another kernel like defuse or community the about section still says 2.6.32.9. Why didn't it change ? I disabled lagfix before flashing. I tried with CWM and odin.
Thanks
Some here what did u use to flash?
oh ya got a stock gb kernel?
