[Q] Question about partitioning sdcard and eMMC - T-Mobile LG G2x

My Phone: T-Mobile LG G2X
ROM: WhiteHawks latest MIUI port
ClockWork: 5.0.2.0
1) What is the best way to partition my sdcard as ext4 ?
2) what program should I use ?
3) What are the proper sizes of swp and ext ?
4) Is it safe to partition and format the internal eMMC if I want to wipe everything and start over.?
I do have a NV Flash backup on a separate sdcard with a full nandroid backup.
Please help with any of these questions if you know the answers

Format your sdcard using SD Formatter.
Unlike PC formatters, SD Formatter won't format the card's protected area, and also gives the card the best performance.

Mini tool partitioner is also a great alternative.

Or use recovery! It will partition as EXT4

Can you flash a ROM without erasing data?

Is it possible to flash a ROM without erasing data? Because every time I try it gets stuck in a boot loop. And its a pain to reinstall all my apps even with Titanium backup. Thanks

sure you can. just dont come asking for help when something goes wrong. i would be more concerned as to why you are boot looping when erasing. how are you going about this?
Well no when ever I don't select erase data in ROM Manager I end up in a boot loop after the new ROM is flashed. Like shown in this picture...

dont use rom manager. boot into cwm or 4ext and do it from there. rom manager has had issues in the past with this. should give you better results.
Dont do it from there. Manually wipe from recovery.
Wipe data, wipe dalvik and format all partition (except sd card).

Looks like you may need to format system.
How? I do it every time I flash a new ROM. I think... Lol

It is an option in CWM. It will delete everything that you have so make sure that you back it up.
I try to make it a habit of deleting rom zip files after flashing. They will take a ton of your memory if you are constantly flashing new roms or kernels to see what works for you.

Click to expand...
Click to collapse
I do a data/factory each switch. Then I restored with advance restore in cwm. Just my data from liquidsmooth b2 ROM into b3.

[Q] Problems with internal sdcard (?) after nandroid backup

Hi guys!
I have a 16GB Moto G version, model XT1033 (dual SIM). I've installed some ROMs to test, and I did a nandroid backup to restore the previous stock system.
However, since I restored, some problems have occurred. The internal sdcard (or internal memory) mount, I can modify without problems in ES File Explorer and from computer. But most apps can't write, some, in addiction, cannot see the internal sdcard (eg. camera ICS).
Some screenshots can ilustrate the problem:

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
(in english: Insert a SD card before use the camera)
(in english: Insert a SD card before use the camera)
I suppose this problem is some with mountpoints (Moto G mounts sdcard in two modes at the same time, one is legacy). I dont find fstab or another config file to check this.
What could be done to solve this problem?
Thanks! And sorry my bad english

What's using up SDCARD? Ghost files?

Please see these screenshots,

"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
The used space is about 8.08GB and free space is about 4.48GB. But then in this screenshot the size of whole SDCARD folder is just 6.36GB.
So, what's using the extra 1.4 GB and where is it residing?
Extra notes:
1. Recently I had to factory reset my phone and lost everything on it, and after I added back my files from laptop the space reported was correct. No ghost usage.
2. The thumbnails files in DCIM folder got huge and I deleted them to recover nearly 1.5GB, but I'm not sure if that change actually shows up.
Please help with any insight. Also, does your SDCARD folder and storage usage show such differences?
Internal storage isn't just /sdcard. Its shared with /data so /data/app, /data/data is included.

Fix damaged sd card while partitioning with MiniTool

Okay, I accidentally removed the adapter while partitioning my SD card using MiniTool. I just wanted to try out the flashable .zip I've made recently and because of so much excitement, I accidentally removed the adapter and forgot that I'm partitioning my SD card My taskbar was automatically hidden so I didn't noticed that MiniTool is running and I totally forgot all the other things since my mind is focused on editing the updater-script and so on... It's like I'm making a custom ROM for my device, then after that, I want to try to flash it through ClockWorkMod Recovery and because the version of my CWM does not support ADB Sideloading means SD card is my only option but... damn!!! Here, my SD card is now in Read-Only state and became Logical type :crying:

Try to backup your data and format it. Then repartition it again. It always works.
Ok, you can use minitool power data recovery to find your lost data and then using minitool partition wizard to repartition it again. the whole operations are totally safe, you dont need to worry about any data loss.
