Samsung Jet Icon S8003 Touchscreen Issues - General Questions and Answers

So I have a Jet Icon here that has a touch screen malfunction here. Nothing but the actual buttons are working, however the screen does detect my touch as it vibrates whenever I do so. I'm trying to find a way to transfer pictures that I really need to retrieve, so doing a factory reset/system restore is out of the question. Is there any way for me to get the pictures onto my PC? I've plugged in the USB cable to my laptop but it tells me to disable bluetooth which I can't do thanks to this shotty screen. Hopefully there is a way for me to change settings before I go off to the store and request a repair.
Thanks

Do you have and sd card in the phone? You could take it out, but besides that, I think the only way to do it is a wipe.

[Q] Factory Wipe w/no screen

My screen will no longer turn on and I'm getting a replacement from amazon. However I have a lot of personal data on my unit. (saved passwords, pictures, and access to my home pc) Now like any sane person, I don't want that in the hands of people I don't know. My question is this, how can I do a factory reset / delete all user data with no screen or way to access the menus.
I do have the charging / usb cable, a max OSX Leopard, and a Windows Vista pc.
Thank you all in advance for the help.

ok, so I did another search or two just to make sure I didn't miss anything. I still can't find an answer to wipe all user data when I have no screen. The screen is totally unresponsive, no image displays no matter what I do. I can't go to users/settings/reset, I can't remove during boot loader as there is no way for me to know what is going on.
Think of it like this, If you turn your computer on but leave the monitor cable removed from your video card. Can you hit esc or f12 or whatever during you boot up cycle....no cuz you can't see when and where to do it.
(sorry if I sound angry, very bad day at work and spent a lot of time trying to fix this issue on my own.)
What about connecting to your computer and nvflashing a stock rom. Or at least deleting some files and or folders...
First of all, **** the one linking search thread. Second mate i would connect it to tv with mini-hd, if that is an option for you.

For your personal data, you could use adb to wipe /data and the sdcard. I'm guessing that you don't have root, but I think you could temp root your TF with gingerbreak. You mightnot need root/temp root just to wipe data.
I think the hardware factory reset will erase everything for good measure, but adb woould be my preference.
For hardware reset: turn TF off. You might have to hold the power button down for 20 seconds and release to force a shutdown.
phold volume down and press power button. release power button and wait at least 5 seconds, longer is probably OK. press volume up and wzit for the magic to happen. It will probably take 15 mins. Admittedly, the hardware reset will be tough because you won't be able to see what is happening, but you could use adb to confirm that it worked.
good luck!
I had a similar problem. Used Android Screencast to view the ouptut on my PC. Unfortunately, even though it was rooted the remote input didn't work so I had to guess where on the screen to tap.

Dock power while screen off

Sorry if I've missed this discussion somewhere - i'm sure it's not an uncommon issue.
Watching videos a fair bit on the TF300T these days while travelling and not having access to my main PC. Have been watching from a USB flash drive plugged in to the dock.
When pausing a video, the screen time out turns the dock off, thus unpowering the USB port. This wouldnt be a problem except upon powering back on the stick doesn't remount properly, it shows mounted but blank. The only way to resolve this is to either a)reboot b) manually unmount and remount in settings.
Any way to keep the dock powered while screen is off? Or any other suggestions - the only other way I can think of is to put files on the tablet micro SD card, would rather not have to do this.

Have you tried unchecking Settings-->ASUS customised settings-->MobileDock Battery saving mode?
Hope this helped.
Live long and prosper.
If I have helped you in any way, shape or form, hit the thanks button. If I have given you a link to someone on XDA that helped you, give them thanks first.
Shouldve said I'm running latest cm nightly, unsure where to find a similar setting there

Rooted Z3 is waterdamaged... (Solved)

Hi community!
Today I took my (rooted)Z3 to the pool to do some pictures and videos. Before I put it in the water, I tested the pressure sensor in the air with *#*#SERVICE#"#" and the pressure increased and sinked after a short time while the flaps are closed. Then I tested it in the water and it worked too. I took the phone in the water for ~2 minutes and then out for ~1.5 minutes (to watch the photos) about 5 times. I noticed that the touchscreen didn't react good and took it out. The front and back camera got water steam inside. Then on the lockscreen the brightness increased and decreased a lot (flickering), I tried to shut it down, but it didn't react. It shut itself down after 5 minutes.
After some hours with cleaning out the water inside with sucking and blowing with a hair dryer :
By holding on the power button, the phone vibrates once, then 3 times and does nothing. It vibrates 3 times every minute.
If I put it in the charger/pc, it vibrates 3 times, the LED Red, then green lights up and goes out. This repeats always.
Holding volume up/down;power button, the pc sees it, but the phone cancels the connection instantly. This repeats too.... which means I can't access to the filesystem to do a factory reset/removing root...
Can you guys help or is there a chance, that sony's support can help? I fear that they won't take it back and leave me sit with a 500 swiss franc brick
========================= Solved =========================
My rooted, waterdamaged phone got replaced with a completely new one, which means i got the TA Partition intact. Sony probably couldn't access anything on the Z3 because the Screen was completely gone (Not showing anything and not reacting to touch), USB-Debugging off and it had a Lockscreen lock.
The same happened to my device, had the odd vibrating issue also, luckily I was insured on my device.
Ok guys, after heating the water out of my phone, it starts normally with sound, but without screen, so I cant unlock my Z3. How can I now get my files out of it?
Can you view your files when
Connecting to the pc? Or you can use adb pull method

When i plug it in the pc, it recognizes the device, but i can't see the files because it has a lockscreen lock. I didn't try the ADB Method, is there a topic here?

No it's off...
Hmm it is tough then. Is there no display or can touch without seeing anything? The last method i can see is too flash system and data only from fastboot. That way the lockscreen can be removed and the files in sdcard can be viewed in the computer. And how come your z3 is rooted with usb debugging off. Always keep it to avoid these

There's no display and it doesn't react to touching, but sound works fine. Are there instructions for your suggestion?

Got it replaced :/ Thanks anyway!
just connect your bluetooth mouse with usb otg cable and use the mouse instaed of the touchscreen... if the display is totally gone then its not possible to backup data from internal storage.
OP, did you get it replaced under warranty despite the root and water damage?

Yeah, probably because they couldn't access anything on it.

Pulled sim broke screen? Can't do anything

Heu guys,
So I received a P30 as a gift yesterday, it said it had an update so it downloaded. Then it said it needed to be at 20% to install the update so I just left it until later when I could get to a charger. The thing is, I also didn't have a sim card in it.
I pulled the sim slot with the phone turned on (install pending) , and as soon as I did that I got a new black screen of death, nothing like in any of the videos online.
This one allows me to interact with the screen, however the entire screen stays black except for about 50% of the top (like I can see 50% of the battery icon) notification area. The tiny section of the screen that turns on also looks sorta wonky, like screens often do when they get water damage.
I've been able to turn it off, by guessing where the power buttons were. I *think* I even got it to the hard reset menu, but not being able to see, I can't type on the screen. It does react to the soft reset (power + volume down) but when it turns back on, it won't even show the logos on boot, everything still stays black minus a section of the notification bar.
Is there a way to do a hard reset without being able to interact with the screen at all? Can I do it using my computer somehow?
I know the screen is not broken because I can interact with it. Also on 1 of the 30 soft resets I did, the screen flickered some sort of error message for a quarter of a second, so fast all I could do was see it was text.
I'd just return the phone but it was a friend's old work phone and there is no way to get a replacement.
I recommend you to use Hisuite on a computer, try to connect the phone (I said try because you must select the type of connection on the phone). If the phone connects to Hisuite, use the recovery option to reinstall the default firmware. Good luck!

this might be my only option. I was trying to find something just like that. Couldn't figure out if there was a software for it or not. Thanks will try when I get back to a computer tomorrow!

S7 Black Screen, but Live device. A way to force backup or fix?

we have two S7's, non-edge, and they have been almost bulletproof to now. I have a rooted S5 but have not modded either S7. My wife dropped hers, no breaks in the glass but it came up black after briefly displaying a partial image.
I can force reboot it, and it works. the backup 'key' lights up at times, the LED's work, and the phone receives calls [rings] but of course we can't see a thing.
Is there a fix? I've tried the reset via Vol - Power, that works to restart but no display. I've done Vol+ Power, can't see a thing. Tried Vol - Pwr Home, can't see anything so not sure what the result was. Plugged into PC but without being able to grant permission on the device, no dice.
How can I force a backup of everything? or... it may be backed up to her google account but how to reach, sans S7 display?:silly:
Hi, you can try to access the phone via samsung find my mobile website. You need internet connection at the s7 working and the logon data of your samsung account. In find my mobile there is a backup option.
Regards
Oliver
Fabulous! Going to try now
Oliver, unfortunately she never setup a samsung account period. hard lesson.
Surely the forensics community has a way to get to the stored data.... I guess/think the only things missing, that were not on SD card or SIM, would be a few pictures stored in default local memory, a few downloads, and things that will not be restorable easily like Calendar entries [and a whole lot of app cache stuff that is not high value]... am I wrong?
But then there is the security aspect; even if I cannot fetch usable data, I need to nuke it all... Is there no way to mount those volumes on a pc or other? A universal "nuke everything on the blind" approach?
thank you for your help
I have also black/blank screen but all audio works, hardware buttons work. I can tap the screen and it makes a sound. Voice assistant turns on for some reason and she verifies the touches I make to the screen. She also verifies I am pressing on screen buttons. I also know this because I can turn the phone off using the power button, then on screen buttons, even though it's blank. So the screen does work, just noting visually. I have tried the power + volume down to no avail. I believe the battery has totally died as was also recommended. If anyone has an idea of what to do next...please help.
, I believe, and I'm going to try today, that we can get in Via download mode. So we'll set up adb, set the "blind" s7 in download mode and see if I can browse the file system
