Hi guys....a few days i have received a system update which i can't update (because i'm rooted) and i keep getting this message.
I have gummycharged 2.0 running and don't know what to do. I know there that gummycharged2.1 is out but i have trield almost every possible way to install it but whatever i do i keep getting the boot loop samsung logo. (i don't know if the 2.1 update would fix the system update i keep getting a message from verizon)
I just simply don't know what to do anymore and any help would be greatly appreciated.
In easy to understand steps as i am still a noob to this.
Thank You
....And the only reason i rooted was to get rid of all that darn bloatware that came with the phone in the first place.
So basically removing the update notification or unrooting back to stock and somehow removing all that boatware.
Any tips/tricks/step by step guide would be extremely appreciated.
Why not just odin the ee4 file with .tar and start fresh?

I thought i did and still there was TONS of bloatware..
The EE4 takes my phone back to stock right? which is like out the box with bloatware.
If there is something that i can download and use odin to put in my phone, a link or something would be cool.
I thought EE4 brings my phone back to stock which doesn't solve the bloatware problem.

You can flash ee4, download the update, then root and manually remove bloatware.
About gummy 2.1, from what i read, you are trying to flash gbe 2.1 on top of fe 2.0. Instead, you should flash gummy gbe 2.0 (wipe everything) and then 2.1.

Yeah you can go back to ee4 then take update use this explanation to root and get rid of bloat.

I don't get it. Why allow the ota if you don't want the bloat? Either stay on gc or din ee4 and deal with the Verizon garbage.

No it isn't. What ever ROM you are using flash the stock ee4 modems, then use the modem updater included in this thread. Note you must have the ee4 modems installed for the updater to work.

[ODIN][ROM][EP4D][FACTORY] Full factory restore 2.3.6 with radio - unrooted 12/7/11
Hot off the press.
sent by genetically altered carrier pigeon with premium xda app.
Try Infinity
If you really want Gummycharged and aren't entirely sure what you're doing, I would just flash the stock unrooted fully bloated ROM, and then flash Gummy 2.0, and then 2.1 (not sure if 2.1 has the newest radios or if it's based on the newest Android, don't really have any experience with it).
If you just want the new radio with root/debloat, you can search for ROMS on XDA that have simply taken the stock GB 2.3.6 with EP4D and rooted/debloated it.
I recommend InfinityROM, it is super smooth and super stable, is up to date with the latest of everything, and is more pleasant to use than the stock ROM. You'll want to install Clockwork Recovery first (use ODIN and read instructions, it isn't difficult!).
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1112804&highlight=clockwork
Then just go to the InfinityROM thread here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1377977&highlight=ep4d+stock
and follow the instructions, again, simple. Basically just download the ROM, put it on your SD card, boot phone into recovery mode and install the ROM from there.
Then, enjoy your rooted/deodexed/debloated 2.3.6 EP4D love!

I got it to work through superoneclick even though it failed the 1st 2 times I did it. I restarted the phone did the non market app fix and then restarted again and applanet worked. It is still a little buggy but it works.

I agree with flashing Cog.
However, I am currently trying to see how far I can get with the stock 2.2.
With that said, I used "SuperOneClickv1.7-ShortFuse" to root and allow non-market apps. If it does not work, remember to right click the .exe and run as administrator (if you are on Win7).
i want to keep it stock because of the just incase something happens and i need to use the warranty or insurance i want to get it back to stock in the matter of 2 clicks to backup all the att bloatware and unroot so i can send it in.
i know there is another method to flash back to stock but i dont really understand flashing different roms and kernels and want it to be as simple as possible. if i find a real need to flash a different rom and kernel i will learn more about it. im just not fully educated on much of this stuff.

Seriously, man, getting back to stock is as easy as that. All you have to do is download Odin one click, put your phone in download mode, click start, and bam, you're at stock. If you need me to walk you through flashing ROM's, I can later on today. It's not as hard as you think.
where do i download the rom for cognition
what are the pros and cons to cognition and the known bugs in it
why choose this over other roms? why not flash to 2.3.3?
will i have to re-download all of my apps and settings etc.?

yes you can, the rom will update your firmware however you'll need to Odin the specific modems (you don't really have to as EE4 modems/radios will work fine but 90% of people on GB say it makes a difference in battery life and reception)

Ok, so it would be safe to load the new Infinity ROM RAW that Imnuts just developed?
Also, I am thinking of ODINING the newest release of CWM (4.0.0.1.4) before I flash the ROM. I just got the OTA EE4 update from Verizon and it looks like it unrooted my phone in the process. Do I need to worry about any Voodoo issues as far as disabling it before I ODIN CWM?

Thanks for the help everyone. I am now rooted under my stock EE4 build. I am currently running 2.2 froyo and I want to update my firmware to EPIW (2.3.4) and then from there load the "DarkCharge TQ" ROM
by BBCrackman and P3Droid. My main question is how do I know if I need to disable lagfix before flashing a ROM like this or a firmware version update to my phone? I've heard that If you flash a ROM through ODIN you don't have to disable lagfix. If that previous statement is not correct, how do I disable lagfix on my charge in order to run this firmware update and load this ROM?

Hey guys,
Can't seem to find a solution to my problem. I restored my phone using LG-P999-V10f back to factory rom, unrooted my phone and now it's back to 2.2.2. I tried updating my phone, but it just tells me "Current version is the latest version."
One other annoying issue I've encountered is that when my display turns off either from inactivity or from pushing the power button once, I can't go back to the phone. Pushing the power button again just brings up a blank screen, which leads to me being forced to take out the battery and reboot.
Any idea what's going on here?
When I quit using my g2x as a daily phone I restored it back to stock and unrooted it also (was on weapon). Everyday I would check for the update and it always said current version is the latest. Basically what I'm saying is, just like the 1st time GB was rolled out ota, not everyone will receive the update.
I finally said screw it and flashed bionix reloaded 1.2.

Did you also restore the stock recovery? Without the stock recovery the OTA will not work. At least that is how I understand it.
If you want a better stock-like experience try the Weapon Rom.

Is that for 2.3?
ETA: NVM, it does. I'm going to give it a shot in a bit. Thanks!
Dumb question. How do I install the APX zip file in that guide???
ETA: Figured it out, didn't need to install it. Forgot that I'd already done it here.
Phone's now update to 2.3.3, stupid black screen of death that appears when I try to turn my screen on is gone!
One last question. Is 2.3.3 the most updated version of Gingerbread available? Is there a more updated version out there I should install to?
Once the baseband has been updated you can no longer use the LG Updater to update the rom as it checks the baseband. If the baseband is a later version then expected for the rom it will not update.
You need to flash CWM Recovery using NVFlash and then flash the ROM of your choice, whether it is a stock rom or a custom rom.
if anyone gets the rumored new update coming tonight/tomarrow, and takes it succesfully. make sure your rooted, and have adb setup, and access to a computer..then please pm me. thanks.
TO BE ABLE TO TAKE AN OTA. YOU CAN BE BOOTED. BUT YOU MUST:
have stock recovery...it can flashed with odin. see here:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=19760508
you must also have all bloatware. INTACT.and i suggest NOT FROZEN.
if you lose root .....you can easily re-root. with odin. by flashing cwm recovery.tar in doin......then booting to cwm recovery and flashing...the superuser.zip...see here:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=19223405

your last bullet (not have removed any CIQ) means anyone wanting to take update CANNOT have the UCLA3 rom/kernel/modem installed as well... correct? (ATT OTA, cd's, or yours since all of these have CIQ removed already). Do we need to be on a stock UCKJ2 like we did for last week's OTA to work... or will stock UCKK1 (your stock CWM KK1) accept update? If not, is there a UCKJ2 CWM rom/kernel zip package?

try vagabond 3.5. It's almost completely stock but rooted.
If you follow directions, you can also flash the stock kernel and retain root.
There is no simple conventional method of root like SOC on the Infuse 2.3.6
---------- Post added at 04:38 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:19 PM ----------
If you wanted to retain the odex file system,
you will need to flash a gb insecure kernel.
install superuser and busybox
flash back the stock kernel and fix the vold file.
it will be fun to try
Anyone here ever heard of or used OTA Rootkeeper? I have no clue if it will work on a Kies install method (never actually flashed through Kies) but, with my Transformer Prime, we used said app to retain root privileges after an OTA update from Asus. Worked everytime for me, even when updating to ICS from Honeycomb, so maybe Froyo to GB will be similar.
I don't have my Infuse with me (left it at home) or I would attempt it myself. It would be great if someone with prior kernel flashing knowledge could try it; if it doesn't work you can just flash a kernel to get your root back.
Additionally when we first got GB last summer I remember seeing a how-to from a dev explaining how we would achieve root on GB once AT&T released the update (since SOC only works with Froyo for us)...
I have used the ota rootkeeper on my atrix 2 when it got updated. Its a pain in the ass to use. The infuse does not need it plus i don't think it will work. Rooting the infuse is easy if you use the appropriate kernels.

I actually thought it was pretty friggin simple. Open the app/Protect Root/Temp. Unroot/Install OTA Update/DL Rootkeeper/Open/Restore Root. Seems pretty painless to me
And the OP wants as close to stock as possible, sure to me and you flashing an unsecure kernel is easy to gain root, but most ppl would rather have a one click executable through a PC w/ the right drivers for phone.
Soo I was thinking, the Kies Update shouldn't erase everything (apps, sdcard, etc.), Rootkeeper stores su in a place that isn't wiped during an OTA. I could be wrong, the app might not even be compatible, but I don't have my Infuse to try..
The process, if it works, requires very little knowledge to do and gives you root w/o messing w/ kernels:
1. Start from the latest Froyo stock build/ use SuperOneClick w/ drivers to root.
2. DL Rootkeeper/open/protect root/temp. unroot.
3. Run Kies and install the update
4. On your fresh GB build DL Rootkeeper from market, open/restore root.
5. Open Rootchecker and see if it worked. Done.
If it doesn't work, flash a kernel. (hell, what have we lost anyways, 30 mins?)
This weekend I'm driving home for the weekend, I can try it then; till then, any takers?
Again, if you have to know-how to flash a kernel, do it, I'm just brain storming alternatives for those who don't or don't want to.
I gave my personal Opinion about the ota rootkeeper. I just don't like it. Its easy yes but I personally would rather do it manually with a computer. Plus it will not work with kies. Kies is different than a ota update. The leak lb3 is the exact same as official. He can use kies to update, flash a rooted gingerbread kernel then flash the stock lb3 kernel. He will then be rooted with stock kernel.

Your right, its your opinion, and Rootkeeper most likely will not play well w/ Kies. Trust me, I would much rather flash a kernel for su, it really is a lot easier than some noobs might think.
As for Kies, I clearly stated that I haven't use Kies for an update, that it might not work and that I could be wrong I'm fully aware Kies is different than OTA; I'm pretty sure it wipes where the su binaries are protected, I only offered a suggestion for the OP, again b/c jumping into flashing things just for root sounds scary. The whole point was to voice possible alternatives, etc, you know, cuz that's what we do here at xda...
@OP, if you want to gain root through a kernel, I would suggest first looking into THESE links as you might have to use some methods listed there.
Also Qk's Back to stock guide HERE can get you to stock B3 w/ custom recovery (rather easy), and his Vagabond Rom has great instructions concerning his rom and stock kernels if need be HERE. Make sure to thank qkster for these. (I guess he has spent a lot of time with the B3 leak. )
We are kind of late to the GB party, it seems things aren't as straight forward as they were in Froyo or GB <= 2.3.5. The links should get you pointed in the right direction to get your phone stock + root. Good luck and READ up!
Root needed
Anyone came up with the rooted version of the following?
http://www.samsung.com/us/support/SupportOwnersFAQPopup.do?faq_id=FAQ00045587&fm_seq=46249
The latest official release from samsung (UCLB3)? My post right ABOVE yours is me explaining how to root the newest build, links included! Read! You would have quickly found that flashing an insecure kernel is your best bet.
Additionally, I tried the method I was discussing in this thread (ota rootkeeper) and it didn't work. (@tmease, you opinion is now fact )
